Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?

dumpydumpydumpdump · 04/01/2025 19:17

Son getting married this summer. Her mum is 6ft and slender. She's going to look incredible as MOB

I am short, fat (22-24) and with massive boobs. Like huge!

Feeling a bit panic stricken now.
Don't even know what I want to wear let alone find it.

I like patterns but don't want to look like upholstered armchair.
Like most colours, complexion is fair, mousy hair.

No overt cleavage on show. Calves also fecking hug3 so not too short.

Maybe hat. But I look silly in anything small because of massive boobs and tummy.

Arse also size of a small country.

I am perfectly happy with my size mostly, certainly no motivation to starve. But wtf am I going to wear? I'm going to let him down by looking fucking awful. I jus5 want something chic and comfortable.

Budget - not bothered. I was going to look at bombshell but they gone bust. All the MOB/MOG stuff seems to be for thin elegant Carole Middleton types. Love Carole btw. But I need something for a Miriam Margoles shape.

That site is seriously dodgy, OP: don't go buying polyester from a drop ship outlet in China if you want to be sure you a) receive the goods and b) they are of wearable quality and size/ fit.

Vitriolinsanity · 05/01/2025 12:53

Crikey, you're rude!

It was for example not edict.

DowntonShabbie · 05/01/2025 12:51

Or maybe you could have some and realise that.OP clearly has a much bigger issue with her weight than she's pretending (it couldn't be more obvious from her posts) and advising losing weight in order to have a better range of clothes to choose from (as well as ever other benefit) is a perfectly normal response on a message board of this type.
It's a more honest form of communication than RL.

And still the wet fish go slap, slap, slap.

dumpydumpydumpdump · 05/01/2025 12:55

@DowntonShabbie I really don't babes. But I know other people do have an issue with other women's bodies and that sucks. Just a shame people are so shallow and insecure themselves.

Re patterns. I like the natural world patterns a lot more than geometric shapes. So prefer the recent asos link to the phase 8. All good food for thought.

Some might say it's too bridal, I suppose.

Well, yes. Because it is!

If I were the bride I’d be thoroughly pissed off if my MIL turned up in that. Perfectly fine dress otherwise.

And if I was the bride I wouldn't care.

Ok, but you might want to tell your subconscious because your op reads as someone pretty self conscious about themselves.
Happy for you if that's not the case, but it's not really what your own words say.

Check Deadly is the female out. Especially there FB or Insta if you want to see woman of all shapes sizes with the about dress on. It's a one size fits all (and it really does) you can adjust it for your bust etc and it's stunning on. It fit me at my smallest and at 9 months pregnant with plenty of room and very comfortable. A good bra transforms it too. They have a shop in frome with such helpful staff. X

Really? OP sounds like a very happy person to me.

Agree. I think OP has a great sense of humour and the guests will remember that far more than whatever outfit she wears. Whilst people tend to feel more confident when they are happy with what they’re wearing, OP has bags of confidence already.
Being possibly similar age and a similar build but slightly taller, I looked at the Scarlett and Jo link a PP posted, and there are some really pretty frocks on there……I just need an occasion to wear one.

mitogoshigg · 05/01/2025 13:27

@dumpydumpydumpdump

My dsd had that dress for my wedding in your size, it looked great, different colour though

CharlotteStreetW1 · 05/01/2025 14:08

I'm a similar size and shape to you with no discernable waist. I find wrap-style or waisted dresses to be most flattering (but not belted). Or Monsoon is my go-to.

For weddings, I'll wear a disc style "hatinator" (stupid word but it does what it says on the tin I suppose) similar to this (I got it from the UK site):

https://m.lightinthebox.com/p/fascinators-kentucky-derby-hat-hats-tulle-saucer-hat-special-occasion-party-evening-horse-race-ladies-day-melbourne-cup-with-bowknot-headpiece_p6947042.html?from_cid=4945&prm=1-2.4.1.2&sku=1_45

Big enough to make a statement but not so big you look like a mushroom. Actual fascinators, unless they're big, are a waste of feathers IMO.

I've bought a couple of dresses for weddings from a local MOB shop. I went for softer non-structured styles but with some industrial shape wear which makes all the difference.

I'm sure you'll look amazing!

PS. This dress came up in ads on this page. I already have it. It's knee length on me (I'm 5'5") and it's one of my all-time favourites. This is what I bought to go with it for a wedding but I've also worn it (without the hat obvs!) for evenings on holiday with gold sliders so it's very versatile - and in the sale!

Fuck what I can I wear to this wedding?
fudgesmummy · 05/01/2025 14:16

I was a size 24 when my DS got married.
The bride, her sisters and mum were all a size 8/10
It was a July wedding and turned out to be the hottest day of the year!
I wore an outfit from Evans, a long black and white dress in a ditsy flower print, a black jacket and hired a black hat.
Yes, I know some people would say it’s frowned upon to wear black to a wedding and was I sending a message to everyone that I wasn’t happy with their relationship?! I definitely wasn’t!
I wore what I felt comfortable in and I think I looked ok. It was very hot so I kept inside or in the shade which I would do anyway.
What ever you wear, make it your number one priority to feel comfortable.

Lilactimes · 05/01/2025 14:48

Notmydaughteryoubitch · 05/01/2025 12:52

My friend is a similar size and often looks stunning in clothes from Scarlett and Jo, they are really well designed for women with more curves.

There’s some lovely dresses here - if you buy in enough time, you could get it altered (length and around shoulders) which always helps and then throw money at some lovely shoes/ bag and hat .

Netmumnet · 05/01/2025 14:51

Monsoon might be a good shout! Could find them on Vinted possibly if sold out.

I'm an 18/20 with big boobs too and wore the one where she's wearing red dangly earrings to a summer wedding. I was just a guest, but I remember lots of people in the reviews mentioning they were wearing it as MOB

You're going to look fab whatever you wear!
