A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

I'm the same netcam literally no more space! No-buy 2026 sounds sensible but I will allow myself swaps as that's 1 out 1 in. Looking at my Depop account I've bought 14 items this year. Some were replacements but still, not so great when I'm sposed to be doing low-buy.

I absolutely failed this year, I haven't added up and I don't intend to try 😁

What I have achieved this year:
I can think of possibly 2 or 3 items in my wardrobe that I've bought and not worn (a big problem for me, buying for my fantasy life). A problem is if DH tells me I look great in something, I should definitely keep it- I should listen to the voice in my head saying when will you wear it? Instead
I've consistently made more effort to wear something I want to wear, I feel nice in, or something that I might have not worn because it was too 'fancy' regardless.
I feel like I've been a bit more fashion conscious this year, and worn stuff I felt 'cool' in- but still felt like me. I turned 40 this year and felt I was veering very quickly into comfy and easy to wear, rather than something I felt good in.

I've been losing weight on Mounjaro, and I'm down one size, would like to be down one more.
I've already had to sell on all the trousers I had, and buy the size under. I've replaced my most worn like- for- like wherever possible, and I'm going to try my hardest not to overbuy.
Dresses, again they've almost all gone, but I'm trying not to replace them, and just have a couple, as they don't get anywhere near enough wear.
I've not bought any sequins, I have bought a pair of sparkly jeans that I've already worn twice, and I can see myself buying the same again in a size smaller in the sales!

Hopefully, this time next year I'll have a smaller wardrobe that I'm happy with. Im currently trying to list everything on Whering (as I like that you can add a selfie for free, where it's a paid xtra on Indyx). I'm coming up close too 200 items though (including a little jewellery, bags, belts, shoes), so obviously I know that's too high!

Where I've failed on the coming in, I've been motivated to get extras out again, and I've more than covered the costs this year by selling.

I'm in for next year. I made this year a low buy, not a no buy, and I do think I've achieved that having only bought a handful of things. I'm definitely buying quality over quantity which is my aim. Next year I will do low buy again and actually keep a count of the cost - that might shock me into making 2027 a no buy!

I did really well.

I only bought second hand, apart from sportswear and underwear which I agreed on at the start.

I also bought a lot lot less. I still bought some fails though - a beautiful John Smedley cardigan and a suit that is far too small (I blame Vinted and it's stupid sizing).

I sorted out my wardrobe and uncovered a bunch of clothes and worked really hard at making outfits out of them. That I'm still not great at, but i felt really good in the outfits I spent time putting together and got lots of compliments. I still spend 95% of my time in the same clothes but it really showed I can do it if i try!

Coming on to wish everyone a happy Christmas 🎄
And to announce similarly that my year hasn't been particularly low buy. But to counteract that I made £1200 on eBay selling my old clothes. Also my Whering stats are 94% wardrobe usage, which I'm very happy about. My other aim was to get below a wear rate of £5 per item, which I've largely managed.
I keep the tags on clothes for a lot longer now in case of return. I've realised that dressy clothes are just not worn as they're really not suitable for my lifestyle now. I returned the beautiful velvet skirt with lace edging I bought recently. But then bought a Mint Velvet Faux sheepskin gilet off eBay New with tags, which I'm wearing loads. It's also incredibly warm & feels lovely and snuggly.
Of course there been a couple of mis-steps. 2 silk shirts that I haven't worn from the sales last year. Though I will wear them over Christmas and for many years to come hopefully. I'm still using the Whering App every day & finding it incredibly useful.
I've invested in a couple of Dark Green Uniqlo coats in the sales. One is the puffertech long green coat with the cinched in waist. The other is the seamless down coat. I wore it today queueing up to pick up my Turkey as it was freezing here. It was very warm, lightweight & cozy. The other one I've already worn too. So they're both excellent buys for my lifestyle which is less glamour but more practical in a largely rural environment. I've taken up bird watching which. Necessitates far more practical clothing 😊
