A new thread to share 'shopping from our wardrobes' so we realise we already have nice things to wear and don't need to buy anything else.

Hmm... I'm not doing well on the no buy part of this.
Please tell me I'm not the only one 😳
How are you all?
@Netcam hope all is ok ?
I'm home on my own-some as kids are holidaying in China. I'm the resident dog sitter until the last week of August when I have a week in Mallorca.
Have you all used Whering for your holiday packing planning?

Edited

Thanks for asking. Sorry not posted for a while, got back from 2 weeks in Pembrokeshire and Snowdonia on Sunday and back to work on Monday.

It was lovely, wore my hiking clothes most of the time and we made it to the top of Cadair Idris one day.

I did brave my new bikini bought last summer on the beach at the stunning Barafundel Bay, wasn't sure about exposing my 55 year old body to the world but decided I would.

Now waiting in anticipation of DS2's A level and STEP results tomorrow.

And it's too hot in the house WFH so wearing as little as possible, summer tank dresses mostly.

Not been bothered about buying new clothes, realise I have loads, barely worn some I bought last summer. Although I did buy a merino bra and a couple of pairs of wool socks in the Icebreaker sale.

I thought I had a serious merino habit, but compared to @Netcam I am an absolute amateur!

I would have spilt something indelible down it on its first outing. I salute your cleanliness, @cantonet!

Same, would be a disaster for me.

The very best of luck for your ds tomorrow @Netcam.

tonybennscat · 13/08/2025 11:34

Glad you enjoyed Wales @Netcam. The weather has been good here, not too hot in general.

Jumping back onto this thread as I haven't been on in a while.

To confess, I have failed miserably with my low spend (too many sale bargains and impulse buys). That said, I have been trying to weed out a lot of things that I've put to one side for some reason, and I have identified several things that I'd like to sell. Just plucking up the courage to start listing on Vinted or Ebay!

My main purchases recently have been sandals. I've got a problem with my achilles tendon so can't really wear flats any more for any length of time. I've tried to find sandals that have a bit more arch support and put a load of cheap flats in the charity bag. I got some lovely white leather Toni Pons espadrilles in the sale yesterday which I'd had my eye on, and also a lovely linen mix Rachel Zoe summer dress in TK Maxx. I must stop now though. I really do not need any more summer bits😁

Fingers crossed @Netcam Do the STEP results come out at 8am as well?

I've not thought about it until today; DS seemed quite surprised that we thought we'd go with him to collect his results 🤣

Hope it goes well for your DS too. I think mine will be logging in at 8am, but will go to 6th form later to meet up with everyone. I believe STEP have their own system for results but think they are available at the same time. I think he's most interested in accessing UCAS to find out if his offer is confirmed.

Is he in? We were at school for 8 - so was everyone else, massive queue 😆

Firm offer confirmed here with grades to spare. We've come home and he's with his mates.

He got his results online at home this morning. But he didn't even wake up until 8.30! I forced myself not to wake him up, despite being desperate to know. 4 A stars for the A levels and grade S for both STEP papers. I am a very proud mum. His place at Cambridge is confirmed. He's going into 6th form today to celebrate and see everyone.

Oh that's brilliant @Netcam ! Many congratulations to Netcam Junior! I had a great time at Cambridge (40 years ago!!!) and I hope he does too. What college/subject did he pick?

Well done for getting into Cambridge yourself. Nobody in our extended family has ever been to Oxbridge. He's doing Maths at Peterhouse.

What did you study?

I did English at St John's, so right up the other end of the main drag! To be perfectly honest one of my main reasons for applying there was because it looks like Hampton Court, which I've always been obsessed with. It was only the fourth year they'd admitted women, which made things "interesting" from time to time...

I hope he'll flourish there and find some lifelong friends, as I did (I was out with two of them last night).

verdantverdure · 24/08/2025 00:45

I have also been selling a bit on Vinted while off with the kids. I’ll have a count up but it’s nowhere near 100! 😃

I HAVE counted the number of clothing items I’ve bought this year though and it’s 19! However 9 of those were secondhand, primarily from Vinted.

Having done this a few years running now I can begin to see some patterns. Weather seems to be a big factor for me. As soon as there’s a heatwave I hate all of my clothes and need more linen and another sunhat to float about in! 😆

Cantonet · 10/09/2025 12:13

September style reset anyone?
I've cleared my high summer clothes out of my wardrobe & I'm currently sorting thru' some autumnal outfits.
Dark navy denim from Uniqlo & Mango jeans from last year are featuring heavily.
A khaki Trench from a couple of years ago and a pair of khaki Torhill Rise boots I bought in the sales to match are proving useful. I've also rediscovered a very old Accessorize leather bag in a bronze khaki that will tone in.
Still wearing a couple of the heavier cotton blouses & some autumnal coloured muslin blouses.
Plus i need to do some winter ebaying, as some clothes are too big on me and don't sit right any more. The good thing is all the clothes I bought last year fit perfectly. So I actually don't need to buy anything!
Famous last words...
Some recent outfits attached.

Love those outfits @Cantonet especially the chestnut brown, I wish that colour looked good on me! Chocolate brown is more of my colour and I’ve acquired some new stuff this season. I’ve gone from a size 16 to a 12 recently and almost none of my clothes from last year fit me any more 😢. So it’s a whole new wardrobe for me pretty much this autumn. Here are some new outfits

I love the pie collar blouse & jacket @Princessfluffy.
Very cool!
Well done on the massive weight loss.
It's very costly but a nice problem to have trying to replace a whole new wardrobe isn't it? Even using Vinted & eBay. I still can't get the hang of Vinted. I'm not sure the algorithms are working for me 🤔

Princessfluffy · 21/09/2025 22:34

I think with Vinted the algorithm shows you similar stuff to your most recent searches.
my wardrobe is 55% sourced from Vinted haha so the algorithm is definitely working overtime for me! Here are a couple of weekend outfits, I had a big splurge this weekend to replace stuff that no longer fits. I’m especially liking my new leopard baseball hat which is very tactile!

I really like the green tones you've put together with the leopard hat@Princessfluffy. I don't really need any new clothes these days. I've dug out most of last year's wardrobe & everything still fits. I can't be bothered with Vinted and I think it's probably a good thing . I'm sure if I did I would be buying all sorts of random bits.
I'm concentrating on accessories like belts at the moment ( mostly from Primark). and I did buy a Preloved leather absolutely perfect Autograph bag off eBay for a totally bargainous price as attached. I have the same bag in burgundy that I bought last autumn and it's been a really good buy. I also bought it Preloved & its wearing really well.

Hi everyone, just checking in, not been very active here lately. Life is busy. Had gas boiler taken out and heat pump installed along with all replacement radiators and hot water tank. Now in process of dismantling kitchen in parts and taking them gradually to the tip. Meanwhile we are living in a bit of a makeshift kitchen with camping induction hob and mini combi microwave/oven grill. Taking the sink out is the next step and I think we're going to have to live with some kind of temporary sink unit for a while. I can see why people pay companies to do full kitchen installs now!

anon2022anon · 18/10/2025 21:09

Hi! Netcam, you have my sympathies, DIY kitchen refurb is hell and lasts forever. If you are managing to put any thought whatsoever into outfits, you have me in awe!

I've done crap at the low buy part of the year, shockingly bad. But I like a few of my outfits lately, I'll see if I can find pics of any.

anon2022anon · 18/10/2025 21:18

I picked up some navy palazzo culottes in the sale in m&s, and I've LOVED them. I wanted the Cos ones, but I can't pay £70 for some trousers unless I wear them every day. Judging by the times I've pulled these ones out, there's a good chance I might have got the use! They feel smart, but cool. I'm also leaning back into the autumn stereotype of leopard prong everything.

@Princessfluffy so many nice things there! And that bag is lovely @Cantonet . I bought a brown Paul Smith handbag from Vinted last year for £30, never used it so I pulled it out to sel, but thought oh, I'll give it a try first. It hasn't been off my shoulder since 😁
