Agree @MildredSauce
The blue eye shadow is classic.

Tangledteatowel · 24/11/2024 13:30

I think she looks amazing and really epitomises the spirit of Vivienne Westwood - it’s a fabulous ad! 😍

And guess what? It's being talked about and shared - there are far more positive comments than there are negative. Job well done

I think its a fake advert probably to a scam Chinese retailer IMO. Real VW ads look nothing like this - they are all about very sharp photography that clearly showing the lines and silhouette of the clothing.

I agree. I think it's a fake advert to a scam site.

Crikeyalmighty · 24/11/2024 13:35

Personally I think it looks like it's from peacocks or somewhere- bloody horrible-not about the lady who looks jolly and fun - purely the clothes- mind you I'm not her market but yep it's def not my taste and I don't think does anything for the woman either

Crikeyalmighty · 24/11/2024 13:38

Oops I missed it was a bloke- still think it's bloody horrible

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 24/11/2024 13:41

@whatwhatnot Am well-versed not only in Vivienne Westwood but advertising, particularly fashion advertising, marketing and branding too.

But thank you so much for educating me 😂

bunnybunnybunnybunny · 24/11/2024 13:44

As mentioned in a previous post, micro advertising like this is huge. It's about engagement.

Anyway, I don't actually use social media any more so really aren't in a place to comment as I don't see this stuff. However, I know many who engineer this stuff (not to mention the more authentic and carefully stage-managed advertising (also linked to in this thread).

I agree with@whatwhatnot.
I think it looks like a scam site.

I have reported fake adverts/ scam sites to Alémais and Casey Casey. If anyone cares to, they can send it to VW. Alémais and Casey Casey sent very nice replies thanking me and saying they would try to take down the fake sites.

LOL. Of course you are. Saying it doesn't make it so.

If you were, you would appreciate that even viral/ guerilla/subversive marketing is going to maintain a certain standard of visual quality for a brand standard. The photograph is too bad and low res/blurry as well as badly composed. Even if the aim was to make it talked about as a viral marketing campaign it wouldn't be that bad.

But you are claiming you are expert when you go on to say
Anyway, I don't actually use social media any more so really aren't in a place to comment as I don't see this stuff.

IHaveNeverLivedintheCastle · 24/11/2024 14:02

On the official VW site they have compiled a list of official social media channels. I haven't checked every single one but didn't spot this.

Vivienne Westwood approved social media

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/11/2024 14:16

Maybe I'm being naive but I didn't take this post as a slight against the model in particular, I took it as a brand spending shit loads of money on an advert and it looking shite.

The makeup, hair and background are all awful and you can't really see the clothes properly.

But that was just my take.

Toffeelady6 · 24/11/2024 14:18

It's a bit mean OP.

I don't think the brand did. It looks nothing like VW official social media.
Vivienne Westwood Facebook

FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee · 24/11/2024 14:23

No, I know that now from reading the thread. But I hadn't known that when I first opened it and that was my understanding of the post.

unsync · 24/11/2024 14:23

If they're aiming it at GenX - it's bang on target. Makes me think of Cyndi Lauper. VW has never done the whole bland, borin, disposable fashion bullshit.

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 14:24

@FuckoffeeBeforeCoffee great user name .... I tried to use it but clearly you beat me to it ☕☕☕

mumedu · 24/11/2024 13:05

The model is a man. Why can't anyone see that. She's shaming a cross dressing / trans man.

Trans man? Really?

EvangelicalAboutButteredToast · 24/11/2024 10:32

I’ve no idea who this even is.

I’ve looked at the Facebook stuff to try and figure it out and can’t see this ad anywhere. All the pics are the normal VW stuff which makes me want to buy loads of stuff. I don’t have the lifestyle for that though!!!

Are you suggesting I made this up? 😂

I'm really surprised at the reactions here. This looks nothing like a Vivienne Westwood advert just from the photograph quality and its composition. The campaigns are typically very high definition photographs with clear lines that show off the shape of the clothes. This is a bit blurry and looks like an amateur shot taking at a bonfire or Christmas market. By comparison the Spring 24 ad campaign featured Naomi Campbell.

This is what VW ads normally look like:

https://theimpression.com/vivienne-westwood-pre-fall-2024-ad-campaign-review-2/

This is the Autumn/Winter 24/25 ad campaign and that photo isn't among the images

https://www.viviennewestwood.com/collections/autumn-winter-2024-25/campaign/

So I definitely think that's most likely a fake advert. Even if I'm wrong, it's a terrible ad - the photo is poor quality, the composition is messy, the model clearly looks like a man in drag - which maybe the point @isitsnowingyett an it lacks the clear lines and clarity of showing off the clothes which VW adverts normally have.

Another one - why on earth would I make it up? Let me go back and find the screenshot🙄

So many people here jumping to conclusions and attributing certain negative characteristics to me based on - nothing . A few words. It wasn't the woman, her age, her belly, her make up - yes it was the dishevelled looking patchwork cardigan and skirt combo - combine that with the inflated price and " well it's Vivienne Westwood" snobbery. It reminded me of the attached. No it's not my look 😂

Nobody is saying you made the advert up. A few of us are saying the advert is fake and will link to a scam site.
