Struck by this ad that appeared on FB this morning and not in a good way 😂

I’ve no idea who this even is.

I’ve looked at the Facebook stuff to try and figure it out and can’t see this ad anywhere. All the pics are the normal VW stuff which makes me want to buy loads of stuff. I don’t have the lifestyle for that though!!!

Rowansiskin · 24/11/2024 10:33

How mean.

BoobyDazzler · 24/11/2024 10:34

She looks happy and fabulous. It’s the lipstick colour that ruins the overall look I think but then I bet people judge me on my hot pink, so 🤷🏽‍♀️.

TunipTheVegimal24 · 24/11/2024 10:38

I feel like the make-up is very Westward too! Better to be fun and glam than dull or just looking like you've given up on life. I'd love the energy / reason to get made up on occasion!

Me neither, loving the drunken shirt and jackets, all skewiffy, but cant afford that and dont have the 'look' to carry it off

theriseandfallofFranklinSaint · 24/11/2024 10:42

Is she somebody famous?

She looks like an older woman who has had a lot of work done (and not well, unfortunately) 😬

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 10:44

@isitsnowingyett if you're such a fashion beacon upload your photo then we can compare

Giggorata · 24/11/2024 10:47

A pleasant change to see an older woman wearing quirky and unusual clothes, looking happy and confident.
She looks as though she would be nice to know in RL.

Alltheusernamesaretakenomg · 24/11/2024 10:48

She is fabulous and I adore her! I want to be her best friend

Answers coming as anticipated !

I don’t think they are. I think you anticipated everyone piling on and taking the piss out of this woman like you are. Sad behaviour

booboo24 · 24/11/2024 10:49

I've only seen this as a still ad

My first thought was, 'Great cardigan!', in fact I zoomed in for a closer look. I'd also say it was pretty classic VW knitwear.

Janedoe82 · 24/11/2024 10:29

I don’t think it looks cheap! Very Saltburn. Parody of the upper classes almost.

She does remind me of Lady 'Bubbles' Rothermere

Looks like you have rather dull, mass-market, conventional ideas about what looking good is, OP. She looks individual, quirky, not in denial of her age or shape and above all she looks happy. Everything that older women aren't supposed to be because we're supposed to be trying to look like a Kardashian.

Peaceandquietandacuppa · 24/11/2024 10:53

What do you mean? I don’t like the eye shadow but otherwise, what a refreshing advert. She looks normal although a little work done (however no massive collagen lips), it’s nice to see someone older than usual models in an ad too. She looks fun and happy. I like the cardigan and bag too. Do you not get the concept that the clothes will look different on you as well?

BitOutOfPractice · 24/11/2024 10:53

I didn’t even notice the outfit. I thought it was an advert for sausage rolls 😬

woman looks like someone whose party id like to go to.

TiredEyesToday · 24/11/2024 10:54

It’s obviously been styled to evoke the 80s (not surprising, given we’re living in a very 80s like economic and social moment)…it’s like Martin Parr gone posh. I like the cardigan, and I think it’s a high fashion shoot- it’s not meant to be documentary photography.

FennelFan · 24/11/2024 10:54

Eyeshadow is a bit much for me but other than that she looks brilliant. Outfit is very stylish.

BreatheAndFocus · 24/11/2024 10:54

To look like what?? I’ve seen far, far worse adverts. Is your issue the price of what she’s wearing? That’s par for the course, isn’t it? Not just for VW but for so many high end fashion brands. There are women here who spend eye-watering amounts on very plain, bland knitwear, but that’s their choice and their style.

Of all the fashion ads around, that seems such a strange one to pick to criticise 😆

mumedu · 24/11/2024 10:55

This is surely a man.

Babewhat · 24/11/2024 10:56

VW would have adored a) that image and b) this little furore this strange little person is trying to start up.

Theseventhmagpie · 24/11/2024 10:56

I actually quite like it and it’s fab to see an attractive, older women in an ad. It’s the return of heroin chic in some fashion ads I’ve seen lately that would concern me, not this.

Letmegohome · 24/11/2024 10:57

@isitsnowingyett tbh I'm more upset by the handbag being place on the ( grim) sausage rolls and pies.
What is the point you were trying to make?

usernother · 24/11/2024 11:00

She looks like she's pissed and couldn't do the buttons on her cardi up properly.

HumanRightsAreHumanRights · 24/11/2024 11:03

I think the eye make up is way too dark for the rest of the look, so my eyes are first drawn to the super dark colours around the eyes then everything else looks washed out in comparison, but I don't really see what's wrong with it other than that.

It's not something I would wear, but I can see it looking great on someone else.

Very refreshing to see someone who doesn't look like they've just been told their cat died, their favourite shows been cancelled and they owe HMRC £250k, which seems to be the go to expression for models nowadays.
