Struck by this ad that appeared on FB this morning and not in a good way 😂

The make-up is terrible, particularly the white foundation, or rather, usually make-up artists know that a flash can make some make-up white and adjust what they are doing for the cameras. Clothes fine, not my style but I like the look.

Well, whatever ad campaign it is, it's worked! I really want that cardigan, despite it being in colours I'd never wear!

This lady looks like a fun and glam granny. I’d love to have Christmas in that glitzy home - sausage rolls and posh chocs galore! I’ve always been skinny, mousy, cautious and rather boringly conventional - would love to be able to project that ‘up for a party’ personality. I think this is a bit of a 70s spoof but all the better for it. Remember what the fabulous Dolly Parton said (I’m paraphrasing) - ‘It takes a lot of money to look this cheap’.

I love the cardigan and am delighted to see an older model. The makeup and hair make me think possibly aimed at the USA market?

She basically made the Sex Pistols who they were. Her muse was Sarah Stockbridge, kooky, crazy and beautiful.

She was a complete one-off - a British icon.

What exactly do you expect from a VW campaign? You come across as very ignorant regarding the fashion world OP - you obviously don't understand how the fashion world works.

Agree the make up is shocking and very pantomime .. otherwise she looks great

It may be a man dressed in a traditionally female style, wouldn't make them a Transwoman, any kind of woman and certainly not a Transman.

Yes. Me too. It's obviously a man in drag. I don't really know why everyone is laying into the OP as if this is some test of unreasonably judging middle age women or women's body shape. It's a man in drag in a badly composed low resolution almost certainly not genuine Vivienne Westwood advert.

I don't mind any shape and size and age of women models being used to sell me women's clothes. I don't want to see women's clothes being sold to me on a man for lots of reasons.

Is this ad just not an example of target marketing/micro influencing and exactly the kind of thing one would find on a social media feed that uses algorithms, like and other data to deliver advertising. At least to my eye and experience, it is exactly this.

And guess what? It's being talked about and shared - there are far more positive comments than there are negative. Job well done.

She looks fine, much better than all the young women I see around with trowelled on orange foundation, huge fake lashes and overfilled lips. Bet they spend a lot more than what that cardigan costs!

I think its a fake advert probably to a scam Chinese retailer IMO. Real VW ads look nothing like this - they are all about very sharp photography that clearly showing the lines and silhouette of the clothing.

The skirt is this.

The skirt and cardigan are available on Far Fetch and Lyst but not direct from Vivienne Westwood. This means they are not current season but may still be available from shops or sites which stock Vivienne Westwood and are still holding stock. Far Fetch and Lyst are legitimate sites. No idea if that Facebook post is. I don't use Facebook.
