Op this is very telling of who you are as a person.
Coming onto a forum filled with women, to woman shame a fellow woman living her best life, Is just appalling

ThatFluentTiger · 24/11/2024 11:58

I also have no clue what is wrong with the picture

localnotail · 24/11/2024 11:59

She looks great! I love it )

Answers coming as anticipated !

"I meant to do that!"

BruhWhy · 24/11/2024 12:01

It's an awful picture. Really badly lit and strangely staged. She looks cut and pasted onto a weird 80s buffet backdrop... which is evidently what they were going for.

I have a feeling you weren't critiquing the art style though?

Tubs11 · 24/11/2024 12:02

I'm not sure I follow tbh. If that's a staged photo then it's piss poor, blurry and poor composition, but if it's meant to be an action shot then I think it meets the brief and is refreshing change from all the touched up marketing thrown at us

IMustConfess · 24/11/2024 11:50

Perhaps they're trying to address the problem that when you use 7ft tall size 6 models with an average age of 19, the women with the money to actually buy your £400 cropped cardigans and £1k jackets think 'nah.'

It's either a fake ad or the agency might be trying some targeted testing using less glossy ads and more diverse models who might match the data they have from you.

In which case OP, are you a Woman of a Certain Age who goes joyously for the slap and the lashes?!

Julie168 · 24/11/2024 12:16

I agree OP it's awful. The make up is just terrible, but VW herself always looked a thousand times better without her make up and coloured hair IMO.

The woman has got her mouth half open and her eyes half closed as well by the look of it. I can't see how anyone thinks they'd made her look great.

Personally I think there's a middle ground to be had between models that the vast majority really don't identify with and this shit show.

But it looks like a man! (living his best life I suppose)

spoonfulofsugar1 · 24/11/2024 12:17

I personally find it refreshing that it isnt the usual boring glossy perfection.

Maybe it is, maybe it isn’t.
Im not into trans bashing either.

Live your best life and don’t cause anyone or anything any pain 🤷🏻‍♀️

TheSquareMile · 24/11/2024 12:24

It looks as though she is wearing the Highlander Cardigan and carrying one of the Westwood Heart bags.

Having said that, I don't think that it's actually advertising put out by the brand itself. The styling just doesn't look like what they do.

I think that it may be a composite made from a personal photo harvested from a site like Facebook, with a view to misdirecting people to a fake site.

If I had to guess, I would say that it's a photo of someone who has been given the cardigan and bag as a gift.

TypingoftheDead · 24/11/2024 12:25

I don’t like the cardigan that much - it’s obscuring her shape (maybe that works for some people but I find it too distracting), other than that I think she looks good and happy.

I bet OPs FB feed is usually filled with sweets in pizza boxes and SHEIN hauls 🙄

Incisive social commentary. Brilliant.

It’s causing pain to me seeing that cardy!

honeylulu · 24/11/2024 12:27

I thought "she" was a man too. It's quite a drag queen look, a pastiche of womanhood - excessive make up, heavy false eyelashes, flamboyant clothes, serving loaded trays of food to the hungry menfolk.

I'm all for middle aged women/women of all shapes and sizes being represented but this looks a bit odd and try too hard with the viewer wondering (as I did) if they used a transwoman model to tick an inclusivity box.

One of my former bosses used to wear a lot of VW. She did look colourful and a bit different admist a sea of black/ grey/ navy suits (law firm) but some people who didn't recognise the brand would refer to her as "the bag lady" or "drag queen". It is a very distinct type of look so maybe the advert does convey that. Some folk will be happy to give it a go and carry it off.

Preppingdonkey · 24/11/2024 12:33

It’s classic Vivienne Westwood, what would you expect to see?

It's not though, literally none of their campaigns or adverts look like this.

Hoppinggreen · 24/11/2024 12:36

Eye make up not my cuppa but I don't see the issue other than that, I love the colours in the cardi!

Preppingdonkey · 24/11/2024 12:37

@Sugarflub I used to work near the shop and lots of their customers have this look imo.

Preppingdonkey · 24/11/2024 12:38

Maybe it’s changed in recent times though.

They do, the campaigns and advertising put out by the brand isn't so though. Along with the poor quality, blurry nature of the image and the fact it's not on any of their socials or their website seems a bit weird!

It's definitely the Highlander cardigan. I found it on Far Fetch.

Highlander Cardigan

Preppingdonkey · 24/11/2024 12:42

I’m didn’t say it was a advert campaign just that it looked classic VW…
