A question or 2 about "Knickers" to the mature women amongst us!!

  1. Do women in their mid fifties still wear thongs??
  2. For those of us who dont anymore, do you still wear knickers that still look a bit sexy so to speak? Or has that gone out the window now?

Christ no, I'm 54 and it's comfort all the way. DH has muttered about my granny pants but a) I am a granny and b) when he swaps his horrendous Sloggi man briefs for something more sexy, I'll happily do the same Grin

I’m mid 40s and still wear thongs. Sloggi Stringtime are my favourite for comfort and no seams. For actual “nice” knickers I like Aubade.

lovenotwar149 · 21/10/2024 20:29

Ok thanks. I wore thongs in my mid forties too!

40 something here, I buy 2 pairs of matching knix with a new bra, in different styles where possible. I don’t do so called nude (makes my crotch look cardboard) or white (reminds me of schol).

The rest l usually supplement with M&S Brazilians, plus a few M&S thongs.

Businessflake · 21/10/2024 21:26

I don’t think thongs look sexy at all. If I wear one it’s for practical reasons like the only way to avoid a vpl on an occasion where I really don’t want a vpl.

If I want to feel sexy i wear silk or lacy pants that cover my backside, usually in black.

mymumwouldntapprove · 21/10/2024 21:30

Nope, mid 40’s here and have never worn thongs.
I don’t think they look sexy at all.
if I wanted sexy pants I’d go for silk or lace cover up the wobbly bits.
if I need to avoid VPL big seam free pants work just as well.
DH know much better than to comment on my underwear. As a previous poster said, my big pants are no worse than his saggy boxers!

Doggymummar · 21/10/2024 21:34

Wirapa all the way 55 or are you talking lingerie? Cos no, we don't have sex anymore so it's irrelevant

elQuintoConyo · 21/10/2024 21:34

I've got a range of everything, late-40s here. It depends what I'm wearing, how I'm feeling, how long I'll be wearing them. I've got a Calvin Klein thong that feels like air! And apple-catchers that require 3 pegs when drying.

Judystilldreamsofhorses · 21/10/2024 21:36

I’m 51 and wear Chantelle seamless knickers pretty much all the time - black with black bralette tops from Thought. It’s giving functional bikini vibes rather than sexy but I am fine with that. I do have a few nude thongs with matching bralettes I got in the summer when I was wearing pyjama type trousers (linen or cotton stripy or gingham wide legs) but they are about as far from sexy as it could possibly be!

fallenbranches · 21/10/2024 21:43

No, never even attempted to put them on after childbirth. Can't stand to have anything rubbing in my crack and I know I'd spend the day tugging them out. They seem a bit 90s now anyway. The only decent ones I have are a no vpl ones when I'm wearing trousers that require it. Otherwise it's cotton briefs always

BamberGirl · 21/10/2024 21:45

55
i wear knickers that look nice and are comfy,as per pp I like M&S Brazilian knickers plus really like the Miami ones from their boutique range, lovely colours, comfy and flattering, matching bras too. I’m not skinny either.

i only wear a thong if needed for no vpl.

I’m mid-forties and have never worn a thong in my life. Big pants ftw.

I'm older. Never worn a thong. Very unattractive.

Big pants all the way.

tillyandmilly · 21/10/2024 21:50

Never worn those thongs - thry look so uncomfortable and unhygienic!

Brassybean · 21/10/2024 21:53

Not worn thongs since pregnancy - they’ve been really uncomfortable ever since - I stick to m and s cotton

StarlightLady · 22/10/2024 05:22

Further to my previous post up thread, I love my dresses. In the warm weather, with long summer dresses, unless l’m on a period, l often don’t wear anything at all.

lovenotwar149 · 22/10/2024 05:52

Thanks ppl....really appreciate the comments! Laughed a little too! I'll continue with my big pants!!! Lol!! Soooo comfy! :)

Thongs …. you mean ‘cheesewires’ don’t you?

Tried it back in the 90s and never again. I don’t wear anything tight/revealing enough to worry about VPL. Comfort all the way.

Crazyeight · 22/10/2024 06:07

Dh never sees my underwear because with 2 primary aged DC and working full time we only manage a quickie after lights out and by that time I'm fully into some comfy pyjamas. So it's comfort all the way for me.

onwardsup4 · 22/10/2024 06:27

I'm still wearing massive pants since my having my youngest who's 2 and a half . Tried getting some slightly sexier ones I don't know if they're the wrong size but they are just awful and uncomfortable.
Need to find comfy ones that aren't ugly 😂 but I'll never go back to thongs I don't think they're flattering anyway

PortiasBiscuit · 22/10/2024 06:29

Been in Sloggi control pants for eight years, love them.

ChaToilLeam · 22/10/2024 06:31

Comfy big pants all the way here! Never wore a thong in my life, hideous things.

DurhamDurham · 22/10/2024 06:42

Comfy knickers all the way here.

I've never liked thongs, they don't do anything for me. I remember years ago there was a trend to have them on show with some low slung jeans or Juicy Couture type pants. Hideous. Some thongs even had small diamanté detailing at the back, urgh.

RoseMarigoldViolet · 22/10/2024 06:47

Do you find that you can still wear a thong after a c-section? I found that it sits directly on the scar area and doesn’t feel comfy even years later, but maybe that’s just me.
