A question or 2 about "Knickers" to the mature women amongst us!!

  1. Do women in their mid fifties still wear thongs??
  2. For those of us who dont anymore, do you still wear knickers that still look a bit sexy so to speak? Or has that gone out the window now?

Never ever wore a thong, but would / do go without any undies if not needed / can get away with it, at times. Could never understand the point of underwear that was 'there' to go under anything!

Edited

I regularly go without in the warm weather, but it’s definitely a summer sport 😉.

Does anyone have a recco for nice cotton knickers? Used to wear M and S but the gussets shrank. Wirapa a bit too ugly even for me. Don't need to be sexy, just vaguely pretty.

I wear Chantelle. Seam free and one size (sounds unbelievable but they work!). Black or neutral. Sooo comfy!

Agreed, these are amazing. I’ve only got a couple of pairs and when I wear them I always make a mental note to get some more.

I do have a couple of their thongs for under gym gear but I don’t find the one-size works so well in that style.

Big pants are far less obvious.

The thing about wearing thongs to avoid VPL is that if the material is so thin your knickers will show, if you wear a thong your bare bum is obvious. You might think "great, no VPL"- but honestly, bare bum, it's not a good look.

Agreed. Also many women end up with horizontal lines across their bum from the top of the thong. Thongs just give a different kind of VPL.

Ewww. 😑
Nowhere women can talk in peace.

LoremIpsumCici · 22/10/2024 10:16

I wear the exact same cotton bikini style knickers and sports bras that I have always worn since a teenager. I’m over 50. My DH thinks I look sexy in anything. For him, me being sexy is me doing DIY with power tools or out doing landscaping covered in mud with leaves in my hair. Suits me fine. I’m not a feminine woman.

Ewww indeed. In most topics on MN it's not a problem when a man pops up, but you'd think it would be pretty obvious in which threads they would not be welcome.

I would have thought there were better sites to cater for such “needs”.

Bewareofthisonetoo · 22/10/2024 10:26

I do and as m 63 -have never really worn any other kind. Day to day tho they are just simple cotton.

Stepdad55 · 22/10/2024 10:56

Next do some nice ones

italianlondongirl · 22/10/2024 11:35

Question for thong wearers... apologies if too much information , but do you feel the bit of material chafing your anus and the delicate skin around it?

I think I'd always be wanting to tug it out!!

Gonnagetgoingreturnsagain · 22/10/2024 11:44

I just wear normal knickers like M&S bikini knickers, not really into huge granny pants and I’m 53. I do have French knickers but only tend to wear these if I’m out out or for dates.

Haven’t worn thongs for years, not to say I wouldn’t wear them. My ex best friend who’s a year younger has always worn black thongs, apparently it’s her go to knicker style.

KirstenBlest · 22/10/2024 11:47

I've worn a thong once. Binned it.

M and S bikini knickers for me.

Aydel · 22/10/2024 12:29

M & S high waist Brazilians. Library in the front, party in the back. Also Wirarpa big pants, which have a very adequate gusset, unlike some M & S microfibre pants I bought, where the gusset is about an inch wide.

Wirapa are just the most comfy knickers ever. I couldn't care less about whether anyone else is bothered. I even bought some for my daughter after she complained that her pants weren't comfortable. She has binned all her other knickers and wants me to get her some more.

Patienceinshortsupply · 21/10/2024 20:14

Christ no, I'm 54 and it's comfort all the way. DH has muttered about my granny pants but a) I am a granny and b) when he swaps his horrendous Sloggi man briefs for something more sexy, I'll happily do the same Grin

This!!

Sometimes I consider buying myself something a bit sexy 'for DH' and then I find myself eying his greying y fronts, or holey boxers that he's owned for the last decade and I find myself too incensed at the patriarchic imbalance to be in the mood for anything remotely sexy anyway!!

I doubt DH would ever have the gaul to mutter though.

Lakeyloo · 22/10/2024 13:09

Mid 50's here... went through a (really bad) spell of wearing thongs with flowers/butterflies/bling on the back which showed above my jeans/trousers about 30 years ago but luckily it was short lived as they were so uncomfortable !
I now live in shorts style low rise knickers. Plain cotton for everyday wear or lacy/pretty for special occasions. I think they can look sexy.
No wedgies and minimal VPL .
I do also have a few pairs of Bridget Jones for when i wearing anything unforgiving, and 1 black, 1 white and 1 nude thong in case they are ever needed under certain clothes.

Not so much chaffing, but i do feel as if I'm carrying something between my bum cheeks and the temptation to keep pulling it out is there !

Anisty · 22/10/2024 13:16

Out of the window! Aged 57 and i like M&S bikini style. I don't like big knickers that come up to the belly.

Never have worn a thong, ever.
