Sudacrem price riseI went to buy Sudacrem cream recently and saw that the price for a 400g pot was x3 more expensive than my last purchase!

A quick Google reveals :

I have been using this every night on my face as an acne cream for about 20 years... thin layer all over before bed. Does anyone amazing job. At first used it for spots now I just use it as a moisturiser/ skin conditioner and it's 10/10

Tikttotk · 20/10/2024 20:41

Honestly I’m not sure of its true purpose. There are better options for all its uses.

Happiestwhen · 20/10/2024 20:43

Tell me about it, just bought a big tub on Tesco online shop..£10!! Although it was 3 for the price of 2 on selected items so I got 2 follow on tubs of formula aswell. I was looking for the Aldi version , Mamia Creme
Does anyone know if it has been discontinued? I actually couldn't find any own brand nappy creams.
The only other thing I could see was bepanthen.

Sunbird24 · 20/10/2024 20:44

@showersandflowers going to try that tonight! Not sure my pillow will thank me in the morning but it’s worth a try 🤭

Lifeomars · 20/10/2024 20:49

Discovered it a young mum, many years later I still buy it, Currently using it on my heels which were ripped to shreds by a new pair of shoes. Truly miraculous stuff

Has anyone found it effective for eczema? DS has very persistent eczema and I have a big pot of this and never thought to try it for that

I've used it on eczema and psoriasis, it's quite good for both if a bit messy

CaveMum · 20/10/2024 20:49

Always a tub Sudocrem or a tube of Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream in use in this house!

mitogoshigg · 20/10/2024 20:51

I swear by magic cream and balm - sudocreme and Vicks vapour rub ... in fact at a pack of ibroprofen, plasters and antacids ... my holiday first aid kit!

VictorianBigot · 20/10/2024 20:57

I have eczema and occasional psoriasis and found Sudocrem (or Pseudocrem as I shall now be calling it) irritated it further. It's drying.

The only things I've found useful for my own skin issues are steroid ointments during a flare-up, and multiple applications of Norwegian Formula throughout the day as a preventative measure.

It’s so thick, I assumed it clogs pores!

handmademitlove · 20/10/2024 20:58

@BattedAnEyebrow me too :-)

Choochoo21 · 20/10/2024 20:58

My big pot has ran out and I am shocked at the price!

I can also only find the tiny tubs and they’re £6!!

I used to see it all of the time and never thought to buy another one because it’s something that never seems to run out.
If I knew the price would shoot up so high then I would have stocked up!!

So glad you started this thread.
I feel less alone now! 😁

I have but only have mild eczema. If I’d it disappears if I use sudocrem on it for a couple of days

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 20/10/2024 21:03

My late MIL used to use it as moisturiser on her face. After one visit I leant over to give her a kiss and got it on my face - it took forever to get it off my glasses! In the end the care home confiscated it as she couldn't see what she was doing and got it everywhere!

yeaitsmeagain · 20/10/2024 21:04

Never bought it, we've never had any in the house. Not sure why we would need it.

IVFmumoftwo · 20/10/2024 21:08

We get through loads with our two year old who isn't potty trained yet. Love the smell.

Well useful to prevent nappy but if you have no kids I suppose not!

FrenchFancie · 20/10/2024 21:10

My old horse used to get terrible sweet itch and the thing we found was best for it was…. Sudocream!

we always joke, slap a bit of Sudocream on anything, if it’s good for the horses it’s probably good for whatever is bothering you!!

MainStreetOrHighStreet · 20/10/2024 21:10

I’m obviously an outlier because I’ve never wanted to use it on anything! I don’t like the smell or feel, and wouldn’t put anything on a wound that’s been glooped out of an open tub. Boke.

dogcatbird · 20/10/2024 21:15

you can buy the non-branded equivalent much cheaper. not worth buying Sudocrem as no difference and it costs three times the price!

Carpedimum · 20/10/2024 21:16

Wonderful stuff, couldn’t live without it. Our house use it for all manners of ailments, it’s a standing joke “put Sudocrem on it”. When my DS was a babe in his cot, I left a pot on his cot top changer, not thinking that one day he’d wake up and be able to pull himself up and reach the pot... he was covered in it head to foot and he’d eaten it! I was in a flat spin, called the helpline and thankfully was assured he’d be fine.

Finetoday · 20/10/2024 21:17

‘Horse people’ use this by the bucket load.

I defy any horse owner to claim they haven’t got a gammy, hairy, straw-laden tub of this on the go 😂

QueenOfHiraeth · 20/10/2024 21:17

I'm out of step with Mumsnet on this as I hate Sudocrem!

It's vile, icky-sticky stuff and, back in the day when my DCs were babies was one of the main causes of severe nappy rash as mothers plastered it on their babies' bums, it transferred to the nappy surface which made it less absorbent and caused horrendous rash, almost like burns.

MostlyCloudy1 · 20/10/2024 21:18

krazipan · 20/10/2024 17:27

I'm pretty sure my mum still has the remnants of a pot from when my youngest sister was born and she is 32!

I’ve seen 30+ year old sudocrem…: 🤢

I’ve never used it on my kids, horrible stuff and too thick for the skin to breathe, clogs pores, I just think there’s better products out there

I recent turfed out anything in the kitchen BBE 2014, the medicine cabinet got a cut off for the millenium.
Years ago I got some free Hedrin via Mumsnet, that's got to be good for prospective grand kids right, thinking 2030...

Oh my God I got free Hedrin with Mumsnet too. Forgot about the freebies I used to get as a tester until recently, so have now signed up to their new version. Hedrin was very good actually.

I think DH has a manky pot somewhere. He's probably double dipped after smearing it somewhere gross, so I'd hate to think what germs are lurking in it.
