Sudacrem price riseI went to buy Sudacrem cream recently and saw that the price for a 400g pot was x3 more expensive than my last purchase!

A quick Google reveals :

Great for cuts on horses too!

PippyPip · 20/10/2024 19:56

I slather it on my bikini line after shaving 🤣

Weird to know how they ever made a profit when each household only needs 1 pot to last three decades 🤣

When we saw the new ad on tv the other night, we said the same! Clearly why they need people to buy it for other reasons 😆

Has anyone found it effective for eczema? DS has very persistent eczema and I have a big pot of this and never thought to try it for that

Not in our case, it's very drying so when I put it on mine and ds eczema it really itched and made it much worse.
Great for cuts, scrapes, bug bites as a disinfectant and to soothe, so we still have a pot, not very moisturising though.

TheMamaYo · 20/10/2024 20:03

To be fair, spending £8 on it is still worth it, considering the pot will last you for the next 20-30 years.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 20/10/2024 20:05

There has never been a baby in my house but there is half a tub in the bathroom.

No it isn't, it is drying which isn't good for wound healing. It has its uses but not for wounds.

I honestly love sudocreme it's one thing I would probably pay whatever they ask for.
Even used on the dog countless times (she doesn't lick it)

A 400g pot is £7.50 in Asda. You must have last bought some in 1980 to get that for £2.50. YABU

Stopcoughing · 20/10/2024 20:16

I use it when I have a roseaca flare up. It's magic cream in this house too

My sister has dreadful eczema and was specifically told by doctors including the dermatology consultant not to use it.

She gets giant vats of aqueous cream and slathers that everywhere. She really rates Moo goo though and always has some on the go for more troublesome bits.

BeerForMyHorses · 20/10/2024 20:17

I don't think it matters how much it costs. You only buy it once when you have a newborn and it lasts until they have their own kids!

SabbatWheel · 20/10/2024 20:17

We call it willy cream in our house, but I get odd looks at the stables when I need it for the horse as I can never remember its real name. “Anyone got any…er..willy cream?” 🤣

Blanketyre · 20/10/2024 20:19

I use it for my horse. Brilliant stuff

LordFartQuads · 20/10/2024 20:20

It can be used over an emollient to keep the moisture in and protect the skin

FriedBucket · 20/10/2024 20:21

I recent turfed out anything in the kitchen BBE 2014, the medicine cabinet got a cut off for the millenium.
Years ago I got some free Hedrin via Mumsnet, that's got to be good for prospective grand kids right, thinking 2030...

MaggieBsBoat · 20/10/2024 20:22

We’ve been using Sudocrem for 30 years. We never don’t have a pot. It lasts forever.

Epaderm for eczema though. Every time.

both are magical.

ohfourfoxache · 20/10/2024 20:25

We got through multiple tubs of the stuff when ds1 was in nappies

But he’s now 9 and mostly gets used for cat scratches, grazes and my spots

Lavenderblossoms · 20/10/2024 20:27

It is fantastic for spots. You can usually get it cheaper at home bargains or the like. Sometimes they have their own brand. But I swear by it for spots and rashes, all sorts!

LadyMonicaBaddingham · 20/10/2024 20:29

Vaseline for just about everything here. Or Germolene, though that's not as good as it used to be old gimmer

tupperwaretowers · 20/10/2024 20:30

Love it, it would cure a wooden leg. Still got my mini pot from my Bounty bag 18 years ago.

Notonthestairs · 20/10/2024 20:32

"The pharmacist told me not to use it for eczema (although I think it does say on the pot that you can). She said the reason it's so effective for nappy rash is because it's drying - so the opposite of what you want with eczema."
Oh my goodness, I've been slapping it on my eczema for years 😬

Sunbird24 · 20/10/2024 20:36

I just bought a pot today! Always have some for spots and bites

I have recently eliminated my eczema in 24 hours by giving up dairy, may be worth a try- could not believe how it literally vanished (it was all over my abdomen and kept getting infected and weeping previously)

Tootingbec · 20/10/2024 20:37

We have many pots in our house dotted around various bathroom cabinets, kitchen drawer of random crap etc. Used for all manner of ailments!

Still known as “bum cream” in our house as a homage to its nappy rash soother origins.
