Trends you wish would make a comeback

What fashions or other beauty trends would you love to see come around again?

Mine would be short hair for young women. I feel like young women only have short hair if it’s quite an extreme “statement” look (Pink, Wrecking Ball era Miley Cyrus etc.). Whereas I used to love those short, very layered haircuts (as modelled by Kerry Bishop of Neighbours fame in the picture). I could never have had that style myself as I have hair like Crystal Tipps, but I think the likes of Madonna, Demi Moore, Sheena Easton, Marie Friedriksen etc. looked stunning with it.

Any other votes for lost trends?

I can’t think of anything more boring than skinnies coming back. I hate the fact that trends recycle so quickly. I hate that trends in NYC are the same as London and it’s all homogenous. Mob Wife is a look for 5 minutes and then it’s something else ( quiet luxury …yawn) I do still have some clothes from the early 90’s that I wished to god I could fit into …. They’re all from Karen Millen which was expensive and well made at the time. Long fitted column skirts with very fitted jackets with nipped in waists and sleeves. I used to feel the bees knees in those at the time.

Shoulder pads in clothing. You see them built into expensive clothing. They really improve many clothes.

I need low rise jeans and trousers to return. I realise I'm in the minority in this but while I'm reasonably tall, I'm short waisted and your average trouser looks high waisted on me. As for actual high waisted trousers - forget about it, they're up around my boobs. Low rise jeans used to sit just right on me, around my belly button.

I'm wearing green eyeliner today. Wore blue eyeliner yesterday, I have navy too. 😉

We moved eight years ago, the sewing machine made it out of the garage yesterday.

I used to alter and adorn a lot of my clothes to personalise them.

This hairstyle.

Tailored shift dresses. Raglan sleeves. Lovely fabrics.
I’m fed up with frills and flounces and they don’t suit me and my broad shoulders.

I’ve always been inclined to dress a bit boho/“weird” but I’m prepared to express it through jewellery and the way I put an outfit together nowadays.

I've always worn bootcut jeans and have no problem finding them - I've just ordered a couple of pair. There isn't a huge selection, but they are there.

Yeah a 3/4 length sleeve looks great on me. Hate extra long or puff sleeves

I'd like to bring my old figure back and then the short skirt, clumpy shoes and tights with a second hand 70s blouse. Ah. I can dream

Actually there have been studies showing that people with botox are less good at reading emotions (presumably because we mirror other people's emotions) and have less empathy.

Hmm I wore these yesterday and will be again tomorrow but I'm in my 50s so noone sees me. It's great

I agree about short hair. Pixie cuts look amazing on nearly everyone. I also agree about wanting people to go back to making an effort again!

I would be terrified of them, my bust would enter a room 4 days before the rest of me!

I am late 30’s so not young but not very old and im a size 6/8 and skinny jeans really suited me😟I am a keen runner and still have a decent figure (if I can say that) and being small and slim “mom jeans “ and big wide legged jeans and high-waisted actually give me a stomach I don’t have.. The oversized everything look absolutely awful on me . I hate it but I know wearing skinning jeans is so so outdated now.
I am honestly glad that younger girls don’t feel pressure to be overdressed and uncomfortable but sometimes I do think it would be nice to be able to dress up and feel like it’s normal (I do notice it more in parts of mainland Europe like Spain etc). I think now there’s a lot of no particular fashion but I really hate the oversized tracksuit look everywhere..
I love the boho look so wish that would come back !

I would like trousers to come in different lengths, like men's do. I could get away with it in skinnies, but can I find a decent length pair of high waist, wide pants (in a specific colour) anywhere? I cannot. They all flap around my ankles. Short women of the world have their pick of pants. How hard can it be to sell some with just a couple of extra inches? As someone vaguely carrot shaped, I really, really rock wide trousers.

I disagree, hardly look good on anyone, they're too severe.

Personally I would like to dress like a Viking.

Totally agree - they only suit the very petite and gamine.

I would like some of the 00s fashions like the pretty cord skirts that were midi and the jersey tops with trims. Everything was better quality and the Boden stuff was fabulous

As to knee high boots, I bought some to wear with tweed mini skirt and boxy chunky knit jumper
