I see women in leggings or jersey trousers with short tops and they don't have a VPL. how?!?! Please tell me I don't have to resort to thongs

Thongs. Packs of 6 from Primark. Cheap as chips. Been buying them for years.
So comfy I don't know I'm wearing one.

rainbowbee · 02/10/2024 00:19

Seamless thongs that are laser cut, a size larger than your normal. They're ugly though!

bendmeoverbackwards · 02/10/2024 00:21

Can someone explain why VPL is so bad? We all wear knickers 🤔

I must be the only woman who doesn't care about a knicker line. Nobody has ever commented to me about it and I would raise an eyebrow if they did.

You're not the only woman - I couldn't care less if anyone sees my knicker line, and I'm reading this thread in amazement that so many do care.

Thongs. I only wear them and have since my teens. I find them far more comfortable than proper knickers, though I know I'm in the minority. Probably just used to them as I can't even feel them.

Exactly the same here; i don't feel them at all.

ChangeItAgainSam · 02/10/2024 01:24

Intimissimi seamless microfibre thongs. Very comfy and definitely don't show. Sizes are tiny so Size well up.

Dunno I just think it looks a bit unpolished

It’s not just knicker lines though it’s unsuitable underwear for your clothes, a lumpy lace bra under a thin t shirt, black straps under a thin strapped top and a bulky knicker line under leggings or fitted skirts or trousers.

No one is going to comment on it but most will think it looks messy and lazy.

Completelyjo · 02/10/2024 06:03

ouch321 · 01/10/2024 14:30

Thongs are vulgar.

No underwear is really unhygienic both for the individual and anyone else who has to use the same seating given all women have discharge and whatever.

Just wear normal underwear. I've never understood the notion that one is supposed to be ashamed to be known to be wearing knickers.

So no one should be ashamed of knickers but thongs are vulgar? Right.

My dd calls it 4 bums 😂

She is a dancer and leotards with tight shorts over are quite the good example of causing 4 bums.

Dogsandnumbers · 02/10/2024 06:05

I only wear thongs. Hate big knickers and find them really uncomfortable. I'm always surprised by the thong hate on here. All my friends only wear thongs too.

Same here - will never understand the hate they get 🤣

I've been here for too long because I clicked on this thinking it was a whole new chapter in MN laundry-line etiquette.

i was going to say, I just peg my knickers at the end of the line furthest from sight

😆🤣

People are mistaken if they think thongs don't show a VPL. They often do. Fine if you don't mind but it often obvious.

If you are thinking of chunky g string style they will do, I imagine most people who say they wear thongs to avoid a vpl mean a typical flat style thong as those do not show even through something like a satin skirt and definitely not through leggings.

This is the style that doesn’t show because it sits high and flat on the waistband and there’s nothing on the bum.

At risk of sounding like I'm staring at too many bottoms, they do show through leggings and it is often possible to see that butt cheeks look separated by the thong and cheeks are looking unsupported , can't think of a different word, uncovered. As I say, fine if the wearer is ok with this.

Unless your bum is incredibly saggy a small bit of cotton from your pants shouldn’t be supporting your cheeks.
It’s not a bra designed to hoik your cheeks up.

I don't give a shit either.

Doingmybest12 · 02/10/2024 06:35

I know this, that's why I said 'look unsupported, can't think of a different word' but yes I am quite saggy though, don't think that's unusual.

I don't think the problem is seeing knicker lines per se. It's more than the lines create lumpy bumps, with the flesh under the knickers being a slightly lower level to the flesh outside the knickers. So you get lumpy bum cheeks. It's not the seams as such that are the problem.

Exactly! I wear thongs to avoid lumpy bum cheeks! I’m sure the world wouldn’t end if I did have lumpy bum cheeks but I feel more confident with a nice smooth silhouette.

I’ve tried sizing up in pants but then there’s too much fabric and it bunches up under leggings.

Sign me up for the thong appreciation society! 😂

Sodthebloodymealplan · 02/10/2024 07:53

Used to wear thongs. Now I find they feel like my crack is being cheese sliced. I can only assume my arse is now too droopy! 😳

Another vote for pants two sizes bigger. They don't come up any higher.

Also commando under running leggings and sports shorts. They are gusseted for a reason, and I have decided it is this.

Ohthatsabitshit · 02/10/2024 08:39

thecatneuterer · 01/10/2024 12:05

I say this every time on these threads. I buy normal multi pack knickers (I like the shorts style, but it would work with any) but, I buy them two sizes bigger than my size in trousers. They don't look big, but they don't dig in to the skin at all, they just sort of sit on top of it, so no lines are created.

Surely these ARE the correct size if they don’t dig in and your other clothes are too small?

thenightsaredrawingin · 02/10/2024 08:44

I am wondering how much building more muscle in your glutes helps. Can any super fit people tell me if it still shows if your glutes are more solid? Mine are still work in progress unfortunately.

YYURYYUCICYYUR4ME · 02/10/2024 08:54

I don't / have never worn underwear (If I can help it, or for more than the one day that it had an unsuccessful outing!) that fights with your clothing. It has to be comfortable, sit well (a fan of big knickers, no trim or lace and oversized and bodies) and then it works with the clothing. It is not the VPL that's the issue for me, but that the underwear ceases to be just that, it becomes part of the look and not one that I like. If nothing digs in, it shows out less!
