Beauty advent calendars 2024 #4

We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

Also don't store your perfumes in bathroom or on direct light. They may look cute on top of dresser but this imacts longevity. Once opened try to store in dark, cool, dry place

Jeremono · 01/10/2024 21:07

I usually do three sprays on my wrist and two on the back of my neck under my hair.”

What a great idea. I think I’ll adopt this going forward.

I love the thought of a bed perfume too.

That’s all very helpful. Good to know they don’t necessarily go off, I might dare to open a couple more bottles at a time.

I feel like this thread smells wonderful 😂

MiaN · 01/10/2024 21:16

I am changing that to they last very long, years, if you store them right :) . Proper storage is key - else they can go bad.

I am looking forward to December fragrance opening thread

QueefofSheena · 01/10/2024 21:20

I also do about 3 squirts on the wrists and two on the neck. I also often spray something else in the evening. I’ll wear perfume if I’m alone or WFH totally for me.

Mine are kept in an old cocktail cabinet in my bedroom along with jewellery and small handbags. If I get any testers or little bottles that don’t suit me I often spray the bed linen. I love perfume!

Fedupandstressed · 01/10/2024 21:40

Mine are in my undies drawer, old Harrods advent box, several IKEA boxes ( Bit of a niche collection) all tucked away in the dark I have literally hundreds of tester vials that I used to keep in a test tube holder in a drawer until I got too many. Now they're scattered in drawers and handbags.

I spray the pulse points; wrist, inside elbow, behind ears and then a spritz through my hair, first thing in the morning. Then I have a lighter perfume for after lunch at work.

Re: look fantastic calendar elemis gift, I have had an email to say gift has been dispatched

ClementineSatsuma · 01/10/2024 23:34

Oh you terrible influences.

I've just ordered the LF advent after telling myself I didn't need a beauty advent this year.

It seems like the elemis offer is gone.

I did, however, purchase through quidco so I'm hoping I get 10% cashback.

The calender was out of stock so I had to "pre order", but I'm guessing they're just restocking.

ClementineSatsuma · 01/10/2024 23:43

Ah, just checked the Quidco T&Cs and it's only 1% cashback on advents. :(

AnnieSnap · 02/10/2024 00:22

Does anyone know when the M&S calendar becomes available?

MidnightMeltdown · 02/10/2024 01:38

I would do one spritz of perfume in the day (usually on my chest), and maybe two in the evening (depending on how strong the perfume is!)

Personally, I hate it when I can smell someone else's perfume across a restaurant, and I don't want to inflict that on others, so am careful about not overdoing it. I think that less is definitely more when it comes to perfume. It's something that people should be able to smell when they get up close and personal, but not from across the room.

Launches 24 October- £50 with a £35 spend.

pinkchampagne1 · 02/10/2024 07:19

Just checked out my JL rewards just in case there was a discount like last year that might tempt me into buying their calendar, but there was just £5 off a £70 spend on home bits. 😏 Oh well, I don’t really need a second advent but could have been swayed with a decent discount.

Talisin · 02/10/2024 08:21

Cult Beauty OOS now as well so that’s Harrods (both), Space NK & CB all gone by very early October. John Lewis will probably do well out of it.

pinkchampagne1 · 02/10/2024 08:27

Wow, I have never known advents so sell out so early! I don’t imagine there will be much left by Black Friday this year.

virgocatlover · 02/10/2024 08:29

A tip if you're going for John Lewis - buy a JL gift card through TopCashback topgiftcards and you get 2.5% cashback on the gift card purchase. Pay for the calendar with the gift card - It will give you around £5 in cashback and if you go through TCB you get another 1% cashback on top - every little helps!

After everything hung around until BF and beyond last year I did think they might reduce numbers this year. It wasn't a good look for many retailers to build them up then start reducing.

thetimeisnow · 02/10/2024 08:55

My Space nk, ordered on the 10th, has changed to dispatched!!
Payment taken today.

TriciaMcMillan · 02/10/2024 08:58

Are Liberty not doing a fragrance calendar this year? Any references I see to it just take you to last year. I was hoping to have other options having missed Harrods, but at this point it's looking like it's HN or nothing.

Jeremono · 02/10/2024 09:11

“Mine are kept in an old cocktail cabinet in my bedroom along with jewellery and small handbags.”

This sounds fabulous! So many great ideas for me to pinch. 😁

nearly61 · 02/10/2024 09:23

@TriciaMcMillan and Spacenk fragrance too. Hope some others pop up soon as I love a good fragrance advent.

Oh yes, although wasn't overwhelmed with Space NK this year. Fingers crossed for more.

IDontHateRainbows · 02/10/2024 10:04

Not advent calendars, but if anyone is interested Selfridges are doing pretty decent skincare boxes with a fair few products for the price. I have ordered the barrier building kit, but there are 2 others in the range.

AprilLady · 02/10/2024 10:11

@TriciaMcMillan Liberty did a fragrance advent 2 years ago. It was much more expensive than Harrods and not as good, so didn’t sell that well. As a result, they didn’t do one last year and I’m guessing they will not do one this year.

So in terms of high end multi-brand fragrance calendars I think there are only 3: Harrods (sold out), HN and Space NK (both still to be released). Think the Perfume Shop and Fragrance Shop also do calendars which will have a mix of more high street/designer fragrances. Flannels have some fragrance “crackers” (a women’s and a men’s version) that are also worth a look.

Doubleraspberry · 02/10/2024 10:14

Don't forget Sniph. Small company but interesting fragrances.

Doubleraspberry · 02/10/2024 10:17

I just looked and it's gone online. £135 for 12 days, several in-house perfumes. I think that's an ambitious price, but they do do interesting options for anyone interested.
