We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

I think most charity shops take unopened products, or if opened I think you can offer them on Olio?

Unopened items can also be gifted to some food banks. This is what I do in November with the items I won’t use (usually body lotion, hand cream and hair masks.

MrsBnow12 · 18/10/2024 06:32

@Hungrycaterpillarsmummy personally I have found these threads incredibly useful to help me make informed decisions about my choices. Whether it was asking about perfume types or the detailed spreadsheets listing product types. Along with learning about new calendars, never knew Bonne Mamam did one.
I am very grateful to everyone who contributes on this thread.

My local WI has a collection ( of gifts not specifically beauty products) for the needy so I usually give my unopened unwanted things there. Unless my nieces or daughter gets them first that is.

I buy ACs with the intention of selling half the stuff to pay for it but not everything sells.

I wonder which will sell out next. I reckon it might be Look Fantastic.

I think many will sell out over the next week or two.

I'm another who finds these threads really helpful. I would have missed out on lots of bargains if it wasn't for some of the people on here and I enjoy hearing everyone's views and experiences.

I've had a message to say that my HN fragrance is on its way to my local depot, so thst usually means it should arrive today.

JudgeBurrito · 18/10/2024 07:46

@QueefofSheena You might want to bugger off with your elasticiser and Pillow spray to somewhere less joyous.

😂i am a big fan of M&S, and actually of these products, but this did make me laugh. You're so right with the tongue in cheek comment, I don't see anyone on here buying stuff they can't afford, so what's the harm? We're allowed to be critical of the products as well as complimentary, I think that's what PP might be picking up on.

MonkeyTennis34 · 18/10/2024 07:49

Last year, I donated my unwanted AC products to a local women's refuge.

IDontHateRainbows · 18/10/2024 07:50

Have unboxed Selfridges. Personally it's not my fave, quite a few things I wouldn't use but should be able to make my money back on resale. There were a few things I'd rate, Memo Marfa perfume, fenty glossbomb lip gloss, sol body spray and paco rabanne Eyeshadow palette the top pics.

Some very cute nail polishes my daughter nabbed as I'm not a nail person.

I'd rate liberty, space nk and JL over this one but it's all personal. I haven't had HN so can't compare it to that one but I'd go for one of the others if you are dithering.

OvaHere · 18/10/2024 08:04

I think Boots 24 Days of Beauty is a really good one for £99 especially if you have points you can use. It's got products not really seen much or at all in other calendars. E.g Huda & Fenty lip, Drunk Elephant, NARS, Shisheido.

Granted some things are small sizes but it's stood out to me as the most interesting at the lower price point. Main gripe if I have one is the large bottle of very nice sounding shampoo but no conditioner.

QueefofSheena · 18/10/2024 08:11

@JudgeBurrito I’m a fan too but I was grumpy. 😁 There’s always someone who comes along and snarks on these lovely threads. We can afford it and aren’t hurting anyone. These are my favourite threads every year.

Puravida23 · 18/10/2024 08:12

Thanks for that review @IDontHateRainbows Selfridges has been incredibly popular though. I must admit it wasn't for me but I think that is because I already have my advents so not in the market for another £££ advent
In saying that I was watching the Ok unboxing yesterday and actually thought it looked quite good if you like receiving makeup and for the price tag after previously rejecting it. Was someone asking up thread about a more make up heavy advent?

IDontHateRainbows · 18/10/2024 08:15

For the PP asking about the beauty concierge voucher... I nearly missed this and threw it out! Suddenly remembered and rescued it. It says 'enjoy a complimentary service, our experts will bring the best of beauty hall to you'
Sounds like a hard sell to make me want to buy more stuff so I'll be giving it a miss but I suppose anyone wanting to get advice on products with either deep pockets or a will of steel may benefit!

With all the doom and gloom in life especially in the current climate it's great to have a bit of lighthearted joy !

Jeremono · 18/10/2024 09:21

I see, thank you @Stowickthevast Maybe I’ll trial it on a tret break to see how I get on.

Jeremono · 18/10/2024 09:23

TriciaMcMillan · 17/10/2024 18:51

Right. I think I'm convincing myself to buy the Space NK fragrance calendar and then open it back to back with the Harrods one to cover the 24 days up to Christmas.

The small fly in this delightfully scented ointment is that I swore I wouldn't buy yet another calendar both to myself and to my husband. He will see this as evidence of my complete inability to exert any self control.

And he will be right. Bah

Sounds to me like your husband needs to buy you the calendar so then you can keep your promise. Problem solved!

Fedupandstressed · 18/10/2024 10:03

Had an email from SpaceNK for up to 20% off £100+. Tried it on the fragrance advent but no luck.

Deleted email as I don't need the temptation. I already have Harrods fragrance and Boots Premium.

(Even though I really, really want )

Doubleraspberry · 18/10/2024 10:09

@Jeremono and any others, not advent calendar related, but any tips on tret - where to get it, what to use etc? I'm intimidated by the idea but do want to try it.

Yes, I thought that would be too good to be true

I use Dermatica. I've been using it since January but I only use every other night. I think it has helped my rosacea but it is strong which is why I alternate nights and use a lot of barrier products. I also rate their cleanser and sun screen as they don't irritate my skin.

I have code that I think gives us both money off if you join. Don't feel you have to use it though. Shop around as there are other subscription companies.

Personalised Skincare

Dermatica provides online personalised treatments for ageing skin, hyperpigmentation, acne, acne scars, rosacea and melasma. Visible results in 8 weeks.

TriciaMcMillan · 18/10/2024 10:46

@Jeremono you are clearly a person of tremendous perceptiveness and insight. I have advised my husband accordingly. 😁

JudgeBurrito · 18/10/2024 11:12

Thanks for the reminder about the Space NK discount @Fedupandstressed , I've stocked up on some winter essentials (Biossance rose and squalane oil, Summer Fridays Jet Lag mask and my BB cream). When you see what it costs for just three items you normally buy it does put the value of the calendars in perspective, they really can be a bargain (if you'll use the contents).

Jeremono · 18/10/2024 12:11

@Doubleraspberry I had a bit of a journey with tret. I was put on it due to lupus rashes but it proved tricky to keep up with in the UK because of the availability, options and price point.

I then picked up the brand Acnelyse whilst on holiday in Turkey for around £5-6 and I got on so well with it I returned the following year to buy a few more tubes. I’d say start off slow (dosage and frequency) and build up to see what your skin prefers.

Boots are giving away their Summer Edit box (worth £231) when you spend £80 on selected beauty. Today only or whilst stocks last.

That's a great deal
