We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

@OvaHere Have you caved in yet? 😆😆

QueefofSheena · 17/10/2024 15:49

If anyone likes Carolina Herrera fragrance, there’s an AC with a mix of male and female scents and a couple of mini lipsticks. I think it’s £80. I’ve ordered from the CH website before and got generous samples

No. I've collected a number of sample size perfumes recently I've barely made a dent in so it's not remotely justifiable. I've told myself I can have next years Harrods fragrance AC.

virgocatlover · 17/10/2024 18:11

Selfridges is back in stock

Hi, I went rl shopping this pm in JL.

During a nice chat with the lovely assistant on the Lancôme counter, she mentioned that her concession would be doing a GWP in a couple of weeks or so. Might be worth holding fire on any Lancôme Xmas present purchases from JL for a while to see if this materialises.

On a related JL note:

For those of us with £10 off skincare, minimum purchase £10, it is possible to find something in store and get it for free.

I trotted round the JL counters today to see what I could snaffle for £10 if I don’t put it towards a bigger purchase. I found some things from The Ordinary that came in at £10 or so and L’Occitane and Rituals had stuff too.

(It’s possible I need some other interests 😹)

TriciaMcMillan · 17/10/2024 18:51

Right. I think I'm convincing myself to buy the Space NK fragrance calendar and then open it back to back with the Harrods one to cover the 24 days up to Christmas.

The small fly in this delightfully scented ointment is that I swore I wouldn't buy yet another calendar both to myself and to my husband. He will see this as evidence of my complete inability to exert any self control.

And he will be right. Bah

Stowickthevast · 17/10/2024 21:23

@Jeremono I tend to use Good genes as a serum in the evenings. So usually post cleanser & pre moisturiser - not sure if that's right or not though! I tend to alternate with a retinol so use it every other night. I'm having a bit of a break at the moment though until I get my next freebie.

MidnightMeltdown · 17/10/2024 21:37

I wonder which will sell out next. I reckon it might be Look Fantastic.

Maybe the retailers have limited the numbers of ACs they've produced this year? 2022 was the fabulous AC year where they'd all overstocked and there were some fabulous bargains.

I had an entire wall of advent in 2022 Blush

It wasn't my fault, I was a victim of the aggressive price cutting

@MidnightMeltdown similarly, my husband and I were just debating where we can create a 'calendar station' for me and how early I'll need to get up.

Me too. Down to the having a break! I'm trying to improve my skin barrier, think I might have been overdoing it.

@MidnightMeltdown I'm still not over the 2022 calendars, LiB and Flannels were brilliant (contents and discounts).

QueefofSheena · 17/10/2024 22:03

My favourite AC ever was the bargainous Flannels of 2022. It came wrapped in a suit bag

Yes! I still have that bag…

Puravida23 · 17/10/2024 22:15

@MidnightMeltdown that wall is a thing of beauty. 2022 was indeed a golden year for advents I ended up with 4 that year including Flannels which was indeed a fab advent . I do remember having to smuggle them in past my husband at the end though and have only just finished my stash legacy from it

Housewife2010 · 17/10/2024 22:23

I think I must have had 7 in 2022. Cult Beauty for my birthday, then I bought in the fabulous sales, Flannels, JL, Selfridges (half price & arrived on 30th November!), LIB (£99 on tiktok) Cowshed (which I saved for this year's Jadvent) and a 12 day Bare Minerals which I snapped up when it was vastly mispriced & took me though to Epiphany. I think that's it.

I’ve still got a huge amount to use from mine! It’s actually a bit demoralising because I’m not enjoying using the stuff. Just want it gone. The excitement and novelty wore off long ago.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 17/10/2024 22:36

I still have a huge stash from last year but this didn’t stop me buying this years Harrods, No7 Ultimate, LiB and Look Fantastic. I had to employ extreme discipline to stop me buying Space NK, Cult Beauty, Harvey Nics and Sephora too. It’s like a sort of madness overtakes me! 😂.

Puravida23 · 16/10/2024 19:45

Ok all is not lost who is buying M&S next week?
I am a no at the moment but I think I may start filling a basket just incase I decide to switch to a yes!

Edited

hahahha

I have done exactly this!

MidnightMeltdown · 17/10/2024 22:52

I definitely had a few more than you can see in the photo. I think I picked up Elle and Bare Minerals at bargain prices. However I had to hide a few in case people thought that I was crazy (which I probably was).

I gave quite a lot of stuff away to family, and some bits I sold, but I still have quite a stash. I didn't really need an advent calendar this year!

Yep. Despite already owning enough beauty products to see me through 2025, I have bought Harrods, Space NK, F&M and Harrods Fragrance.

I'm actually glad that they are selling out quickly this year as my willpower crumbles in the face of a discount.

Hungrycaterpillarsmummy · 17/10/2024 23:10

I like a beauty advent calendar although I've only ever had the m & s one each year, but to see people buying multiple and then becoming demoralised with them and just kind of getting caught up in the whirlwind of buying them seems rather off to me.
These beauty calendar threads seem to whip people up on a panic to buy them all. It's so strange!

Not seen many people get demoralized on here myself. Main vibe is excitement.

I think most charity shops take unopened products, or if opened I think you can offer them on Olio?
