Beauty advent calendars 2024 #4

We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

One of my sons got me the large Flannels cracker last year and the candle was chipped. They did a partial refund and refunded the postage. It was a packaging issue as several YouTubers also had chipped candles.

I watched a Sephora unboxing at the weekend. I liked it more than I thought compared to just reading the list of contents. I find a good unboxing video can definitely sway me one way or another. Sometimes it works the other way and I like one less after watching a video reveal.

Cosmetopia (sp?) can talk me out of just about anything. I only just discovered her after someone posted a link on one of the threads. Too late for me this year but next year I will buy NOTHING until I've watched her take. 😂

@OvaHere I do like Cosmetopia but I think you need to be careful how much influence you give anyone, positive or negative. She's been reviewing multiple calendars a year, for years, so she'll have a different opinion on things than someone who is new to luxury beauty. She's still interesting and useful to watch, but I don't always agree 100% with her.

Just given in to temptation and ordered the John Lewis calendar - was hoping for a discount or gift with purchase offer but was getting concerned it was going to sell out!

Ohh @CocoMascara I was eyeing up the harrods box too, some good items in there.

@IlovePond Your post regarding the free lookfantastic gift made me buy my conditioner and heat protectant for the forseeable to get the free gift. I'm planning on reusing the SpaceNK advent for DDs 16th next year so the contents will go towards that.

Also have it in my head I need to do a penhaligons order, but one item I'm after is currently oos, if it comes back into stock I'll make an order.and take it as a sign it is meant to be 😅

@alwaysfretting I messaged customer services today and they told me the same thing about the e voucher. I haven't received an email either with said voucher and I agree with you that there was no mention of this when we ordered.

I'm not desperate for it but it does piss he off that they offered it and aren't delivering - it feels dishonest.

I was being slightly tongue in cheek there. There's stuff I like that she doesn't but she is a refreshing change from the 1000s of YouTubers for whom everything is great and brilliant all the time. I do need to be more sensible and discerning next year and less like a kid in a sweet shop.

It's bad, isn't it. Shame to spoil such a lovely advent calendar with this malarkey. I'm not sure I want the freebie enough to message them yet again. I think it's AI.

Wasted most of this pm fantasy shopping at Sephora. I have just over an hour to decide if I am going to go for the GWP.

I quite like Sephora’s a/c - Cosmetopoeia liked it too, (or as she put it, ‘I like it more than I do not like it!’)

I was just about to buy the stuff from Sephora I had been dithering over all day when they stopped the beauty box deal - they must have either ended it at 10pm or run out!

I didn’t ‘need’ any of it, but I had spent the afternoon putting together a DIY a/c for myself and was just getting up the nerve to pay. Oh well😿

@tellmewhenthespaceshiplandscoz was it you that ordered the Le Labo lip cream from HN at the same time I did? If so, did yours come with a security seal and/or in a box?

Ive been ignoring this thread for weeks as my intention this year was to just get the H&B Calendar + the GWP with Look Fantastic by ordering some faves from previous ACs, like the Olverum bath oil... now Ive just gone and ordered the SpaceNK fragrance calendar... it was just too enticing.. Theres a cap of one per customer by the way ..

@psuedocream3 I think I’ll use all of the Harrods 12 day box. Some bits I already use but most I wanted to try. I haven’t opened anything but it smells gorgeous! Plus the box is lovely, really sturdy.

I got my shiseido yesterday, very pleased with it, have tucked it away so I’m not tempted. @OvaHere If the GWP was small, the samples are tiny! Probably not enough to cover my face (I don’t have a big face!) so pointless really

I've got the space NK in my basket , but the vanilla mist is holding me back . I think I'm going to wait for HN on Thursday..... decisions decisions

I have discovered one new love in the HN advent, and after all the masculine vs feminine I found that it's mostly rated as masculine. Anyone can wear anything really. I am hoping to collect my Harrods today but I feel I may decide to keep it for December as I it will take me time to get through testing what I have from HN. My only problem is as it's shared advent my son may be nagging me to open his picks earlier.

I really should not be buying anything else!
