We still have 2 months to go so there's still time for dilemmas, decisions and discounts.

We have a few coming out this week including John Lewis, OK and No7. I'm still WAC (without advent calendar) but that may soon change!

H&B is a good calendar @Jeremono - tempted by it myself, (although quite a few things I wouldn’t use).

I didn’t get it last year as I didn’t like the products, but have had it a couple of times before and loved it.

I am surprised it’s not already sold out.

Happy birthday @pinkchampagne1 !

The Brown Thomas advent is now available for pre-order. Lovely packaging but too many things I won’t use to justify it. They say it’s worth over 1k, priced at €300

Just had another look at H&B. I love some of the products, but 8 or 9 of them I have absolutely no use for and no one who would appreciate a regift.

Think it’s a reluctant no from me, (unless it miraculously hangs around and there’s reduction later.)

LightandBreezy · 03/10/2024 12:25

@loropianalover I think that Brown Thomas calendar is great, I would have been very tempted were I not in the UK

I thought there were a lot of small sizes in it too. I think it's over priced for what it is.

It is lovely! I hate how picky I am. I suppose you could sell on the bits you don’t fancy.

The packaging is really what sucks me into things, I’d love to have that sitting on the coffee table all December 🙈 I was the same with the Diptyque calendar.

They do ship to NI if that's any good to you? I don't know if there are any parcel redirection services from NI to GB?

I thought most products looked quite dinky in the overview pic. I wish they would bring the price of that one down and then offer a more fragrance/luxury/homeware calendar at a more expensive price point.

It is definitely beautiful.

The sizes look pretty good to me, the only things I think are small are the cleanser and face cream but they are Hourglass and Prada, so that makes sense. 15ml for a serum is reasonable, and the room sprays and scents are good sizes (okay 1.5ml Kilian but you do get five). That retinal alone is £70, and I use it anyway. I'd be very tempted if I was in NI/ROI. I still don't think it's maybe quite as good as Space NK, but I think it's better than JL (admittedly a bit more expensive too).

If it was €200, I would go for it. There are only about 6 or 7 items I wouldn't use and they are all regiftable.

@loropianalover Ah the Diptyque ones are gorgeous! I foolishly hesitated to get one a couple of years ago that heavily featured my favourite scents and candles. It sold out and future years have never quite lived up to it for me - which is part of my pickiness too - I seem to focus on the items I don't want more than the ones I do - eg. I didn't get the next diptyque calendar because it had Eau Capitale in which I really dislike. Arguably anything that curbs my luxury calendar appetite is a good thing though 😂

LightandBreezy · 03/10/2024 12:44

I think what I liked about the BT one was that I'd use pretty much everything. Not too worried about smaller sizes as long as it's things I want to try or know I'll use. @OchonAgusOchonOh thanks for that suggestion- I've messaged them as there is a international delivery service, but it's more out of curiosity tbh - I bought Space NK this year and also made my own 'dream' calendar with the best of my stash and some extra buys from eBay/liberty/Vinted so I'm done for this year now really.

Mencia · 03/10/2024 12:51

Are there any codes for Look Fantastic? Need to buy 2 as presents and would not mind 10% off

Jeremono · 03/10/2024 12:54

@IlovePond I felt the same on first look at H&B but I figured even the products I’m not wild about I will still be able to use, except maybe the tablets and that bloody toothpaste they put in every year.

IlovePond · 03/10/2024 13:01

Ah, the toothpaste @Jeremono - you have to give them credit for trying 😹

Roundaboot · 03/10/2024 13:52

Aw, I'd take the toothpaste over another black eyeliner any day!

52crumblesofautumn · 03/10/2024 13:56

Oh I do like the John Lewis one....I've got a £10 off on rewards too but argh. Will dither further.

I'm looking forward to trying the toothpaste. The only DoD for me is the bath salts but even that is better than a black eyeliner.

AprilLady · 03/10/2024 13:59

I think JL is actually very fairly priced this year, and I’d be surprised if it got discounted.

If I wasn’t in the UK I’d be pretty tempted by Brown Thomas. I don’t think the picture is doing it any favours - the products are mostly reasonably sized. For example, the Le Labo perfume (as it happens my favourite Le Labo!) is a 15ml bottle that retails for £74, but looks tiny in the picture. The Killian perfumes are all tiny, but it is a full discovery set of their best sellers, so not unreasonable. At 300 Euro it’s not great value, but not terrible either.

Thatsjustnotcrumble · 03/10/2024 14:39

Very good point @virgocatlover, thanks you’ve given me the nudge I needed 😊 I’m going to buy it now, I’d be disappointed if I missed out.

MidnightMeltdown · 03/10/2024 15:07

I agree. It's £933 worth of products for under £200, so I'm not sure why people think it's overpriced. You're only paying 20% of the retail value. I suppose what they mean is that it's overpriced for the products that they actually want to use.

I also think that it will sell out before being discounted

QueefofSheena · 03/10/2024 15:10

@pinkchampagne1 happy birthday. I am hugely impressed with your self control. I’d have that AC opened by the end of the day as it’s a birthday gift!
