Does the holy grail of a trouser you can wear jumpers/tops with so that your vpl isn't visible but there's no tightness on the tummy exist?

If you plan to wear a flowy top - wear low rise trousers and go under the belly

You want

Beyond Nine

trousers.

They are hilarious.

Illpickthatup · 29/09/2024 12:30

Have a look on Halara. They do various lengths and have super stretch fabric. Loads of styles and colours as well.

CharlotteBog · 29/09/2024 15:30

Those M and S trousers shrink in the wash. I am 5'7 and the legs shrank so much they looked ridiculous.

I have 2 pairs. I'm 5'8" and mine didn't shrink.

Looking at the ones on the website again, I think these are different to the ones I had. There were quite a few reviews of the ones I had saying that they had shrunk, and I think they discontinued them because of this. The current ones had only 8 reviews when I looked this morning.

I might give them another try, although the Ninepine ones I bought recently are so lovely I might splash the cash again and get another pair.

I found ditching trousers and wearing dresses got rid of the problem of pressure on the stomach (used to suffer a lot with bloating). Tulip and swing style dresses worked well. It was transformative for me. I'd recommend the dress option.

PinkOrca · 29/09/2024 21:02

@lentilweaver I looked up elasticated trousers on their website and can't find any. Do they have a name I can find them by ?

Just to say, if anyone reading this does like the patterns/fabric etc, it's worth looking the brand up on Instagram and watching videos of people wearing the different styles, as some of them look great and not clown trouser-y! (Not an ad, they've just been on my wishlist for ages but are ££ so I've been doing a lot of research on which will be the right style for me)

I've seen someone wearing them in real life and they looked fantastic, and much less goofy than on the site

Frosty1000 · 29/09/2024 21:54

I'm not even 5'2 and have gynae issues so comfortable trousers are a must for me. I can't do wide legged either!

So my go to are the petite ponte leggings from Sainsbury's, they're thicker than normal leggings so are more trousers.

Magic trousers/jeans

Stretch trousers from niche online

I've also found Matalan Rosie jeggins are high waisted enough not to cut in.

Ilovemyshed · 29/09/2024 21:57

Matalan, Bengaline troysers

Rina66 · 30/09/2024 05:22

I've got these sort of peg style stretchy elasticated waist trousers, they're sold out now but it might be worth you looking for something similar? So comfortable and surprisingly flattering, I bought the white first for Summer and then bought the denim for Autumn.

escape · 30/09/2024 05:31

I've seen elasticated/tie front trousers in Next that are not wide legged. More tapered & smarter in style.

Full empathies- my tummy is huge and it's becoming more and more difficult to dress!

ShinyAppleDreamingOfTheSea · 30/09/2024 07:42

@escape do you mean the ones they describe as 'joggers' but see fairly thin, soft viscose jersey ? I've had several pairs of these sjnce they've been doing them (a few years now) and they are very comfortable .

Blinkingbonkers · 30/09/2024 08:40

When people talk about Levi 501s are you wearing the men’s or women’s versions? I had the comfiest pair in the 90s but was a men’s style….just wondering if it’s still ‘the thing’ or I should be looking at the women’s?! Thanks!

I wear the women’s 501s. I guess it will depend on your body shape. The 501s are quite roomy round the hips and thighs and smaller round the waist. I can’t imagine the men’s would work on an hourglass or pear shape.

boxoftoads · 30/09/2024 13:27

Sweaty Betty Explorer Trousers or their Explorer Jumpsuits. Both fantastic.

KatharineClimpson · 30/09/2024 17:37

Thank you, thank you, I am also awaiting surgery for a large hernia and am getting desperate for comfy trousers!

Dubuem · 30/09/2024 21:07

Merona · 27/09/2024 23:58

They are really awful. I have a huge tummy compared to the rest of my body and cannot find comfy trousers, but I wouldn’t even wear those monstrosities around the house.

Jeggings with a longer top?

CalicoQuince · 30/09/2024 23:04

I bought a size 16, and over the couple of years I’ve had them they’ve stretched to fit me when I was probably a size 18, and also when I was nearer a size 14. Just looked a bit looser on the legs! I’m 5’9 but bought the standard leg length rather than the longer one.

sorry I’m making a terrible mess of commenting 😅

Have a look at Carys Whittaker on Instagram, her entire page is dedicated to clothes for women with sensitive stomachs/ painful bloating. It is actually brilliant.

WickedWineWitch · 01/10/2024 11:56

Thanks have followed all these people and have lots of trousers in baskets now!
