Does the holy grail of a trouser you can wear jumpers/tops with so that your vpl isn't visible but there's no tightness on the tummy exist?

I’ve got a couple of pairs of these. Very comfy. Can dress up for work and dress down for weekends. Am also a short arse and not too long for me.

might get another pair as I’ll be gutted if they discontinue

Should have said, they’re from The White Company

Suzuki70 · 28/09/2024 09:06

I've got some Lucy and Yak Alexa on navy which are good. I'm not tall but I roll the legs. They're not really for cold weather though, in my opinion.

If I'm a size 12 in marks jeans do you know what size I'd go for waist wise in Levi's? 29 sounds too small, 30?

29

I don't go by waist sizes in jeans as my waist is 12" smaller than my hips. I would buy a 29" waist but they wouldn't go over my hips.

I don't know why Levi don't put hip sizes on their site as well. I wish they hadn't discontinued their curve jeans.

Jaehee · 28/09/2024 09:29

I have endo so struggle with anything that feels even slightly restrictive. I wear these which are really comfortable:

https://tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc144453826

(they also do petite lengths)

For jeans, I have a pair of Levi's 501s which are comfortable. They are fitted at the waist but looser round the belly area which helps. I'm between a 10 and a 12 and the 28 waist fits me.

Yes, same for me really. I’m a 14 and a 31 fits comfortably on the waist, but I usually get a 32 as it just feels/looks better over hips and bum! I like having space around the waist as it makes me feel slimmer 😂.

That's my issue, I'm an hourglass which a large waist/hip difference. Levi's are the only jeans I've found that don't gape at the waist, although it's still a bit tricky to get them over my hips.

Edit: the 501s that is, I don't know about the fit of other Levi's.

I really like these jersey jeggings from next.

henlake7 · 28/09/2024 09:53

JD Williams do some nice jeggings too. Not that restrictive (I can squat in them comfortably!).

They look good @EnjoyingTheSilence
How short are you? I’m 5’2 and I wonder if they’d be too long for me.

A 29 or even smaller. I think they come up big. I’m a 10 and my ribcage are size 25. Don’t find them super comfy on bloated days, though. I’m really tall so perhaps they just aren’t as high on me and might be comfier if you’re a bit shorter?!

Only if you want to look like a clown ...

Or a pregnant woman.

Or one with fibroids or endometriosis or recovering from gynaecological surgery …

Or simply suffering with a swollen or tender middle for any number of reasons.

You’re so lucky if you haven’t had to imagine any of these scenarios …

Or suffer from IBS and have a continual tender tummy hence my interest in the post.

Still does mean I want to look like a complete wally!

I'd like to see trousers comfy on the tummy that look stylish/trendy/smart too!

myslippersarepink · 28/09/2024 10:13

I really need smart work wear comfy tummy trousers if anyone has any tips please? 🙏

GrumpyOldGran · 28/09/2024 10:22

Have you considered jeggings?

Like jeans but with a stretch waist?

ChocHotolate · 28/09/2024 10:24

I bought Halara via ticktock shop recently. They look exactly like jeans but are soft and stretchy in every direction with elastic waist. No digging into my flabby tum! Honestly the most comfortable trousers I've had for ages

Cocolapew · 28/09/2024 10:27

I got elasticated waist cords from Bon Marche of all places and they are super comfy. I turned them up because I like shorter trousers with boots, but they do different lengths.

greenmarsupial · 28/09/2024 10:38

These are better than the M&S ones in my opinion. tuclothing.sainsburys.co.uk/product/tuc144479372

It looks like there are wide leg ones too but I haven't tried those.

EnjoyingTheSilence · 28/09/2024 10:53

@GrizzLee I’m 5’2” too!

honestly they’re so comfy, I’m so sick of jeans digging in and showing off my rolls of flab 😩

GettingStuffed · 28/09/2024 11:42

I find Peacocks trousers to be comfy
Like these
https://www.peacocks.co.uk/4703031-black-plain.html

I have some from nak-d which are really loose around the stomach
https://www.na-kd.com/en/products/elastic-waistband-cotton-pants-khaki-beige-1100-006961-9459

I'd also recommend Halara. I have a couple of pairs of non stretchy ones but their stretch ones really stretch.

streamy · 28/09/2024 14:17

Could maternity trousers or jeans work? Some places now do post-maternity trousers and jeans too.

Is it that you don't want fabric which is restrictive around your stomach or would soft, super stretchy fabric work?

Sammysquiz · 28/09/2024 14:27

Urban Outfitters Livvy trousers are great. Bought them following a recommendation on here & have been really pleased with them.

GameOfJones · 28/09/2024 14:56

I really like cargo trousers from Fat Face. I have a few pairs of these and they're very comfortable and easy to wear:

None of those mean that you can't wear flattering clothes.

I recently got these from Uniqlo. They are so soft and stretchy, have a gentle waistband and skim over my less than flat tummy! https://www.uniqlo.com/uk/en/products/E470169-000/00
