Does the holy grail of a trouser you can wear jumpers/tops with so that your vpl isn't visible but there's no tightness on the tummy exist?

These are good but you deffo need longer tops with them. I should have added - I'm wondering about in the rain too! I love a wide leg but what if it's wet!!

They do a straight leg version as well
I have endo so always looking for comfy ones!

I have some drawstring jeans which might work. They don't look that smart but are pretty comfy.

Only if you want to look like a clown ...

Or a pregnant woman.

Or one with fibroids or endometriosis or recovering from gynaecological surgery …

Or simply suffering with a swollen or tender middle for any number of reasons.

You’re so lucky if you haven’t had to imagine any of these scenarios …

ThorndonCream · 27/09/2024 23:43

@BetsyRegards I have suffered from some of those things but I still wouldn't wear clown trousers. I mean it's bad enough to be suffering without adding clown trousers to the mix.

Only if you want to look like a clown ... 🤡

They are really awful. I have a huge tummy compared to the rest of my body and cannot find comfy trousers, but I wouldn’t even wear those monstrosities around the house.

Osco · 28/09/2024 07:35

They are hilarious. I bought the m and s jersey ones after reading about them on here but they did nothing for my pear shaped 5’5 body. I tend to wear cargo pants, chinos or lululemon soft leggings as jeans alternatives. None are great but better than the clown pants😂

fernsandlilies · 28/09/2024 07:45

Seasalt have several trousers that are either elasticated all around or have elastic at the back of the waist. Really nice looking when they are on, and great fabric.

eg https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/dayby-tapered-leg-cord-trousers although these look much better in life than on that model

Dayby Cord Trousers

A soft cotton needlecord trouser with tapered legs and elastic waistband for extra comfort. The perfect blend of comfort and style.

Up to you, @WickedWineWitch - the Beyond Nine clothes are specifically designed to be comfortable around the middle. Which is what you asked about, I think?

Recently brought some bits from mango for the first time in years- super comfy!

also lululemon leggings. Pricy but 100% worth it

WickedWineWitch · 28/09/2024 08:13

Yes the middle it's important! But I am very short so can't really pull off very wide legs unfortunately

Barrel Leg trousers from Cos.

NiggleNoggle · 28/09/2024 08:23

I bought two pairs of poplin joggers from Primark, navy this season and a grey last. They are actually quite smart as the fabric is really good. They don't look like joggers but are very forgiving:

Those M and S trousers shrink in the wash. I am 5'7 and the legs shrank so much they looked ridiculous.

If you buy them get a length that is too long to allow for shrinkage.

I decided to splash the cash and buy these https://www.ninepine.uk/products/asana-relaxed-straight-pant-navy?variant=47251527860572&shpxid=aa600fae-235e-4523-b947-97effd0ca788 and they are really worth the money.

How are the lengths on these? I keep seeing them on Facebook!

Oceangreyscale · 28/09/2024 08:36

All Saints Aleida trousers are smart and elasticated at the back so comfy.

weareallcats · 28/09/2024 08:36

I struggle with jeans and find they often look unflattering around the middle (plus I have proportionately short legs) but have got a pair of Levis 724s that are comfy - I sized up an inch around the waist, but they still stay up. I also have a nice pair of cords from White Stuff - think they are called ‘twister’ - with a tapered leg, they do chinos in this style too.

Lentilweaver · 28/09/2024 08:39

I know you said jeans alternative but I recently bought the Ribcage jeans from Levis and they are pretty comfy.

RampantIvy · 28/09/2024 08:45

@ReturnoftheBink I bought a 32" leg length and they didn't shrink. I would normally wear a 31" leg in straight or skinny.

I kept getting Ninepine ads on my Facebook feed and was fed up at not finding what I wanted in the shops, so I bit the bullet and splashed out for them. I am really pleased I did.

Just to say, if anyone reading this does like the patterns/fabric etc, it's worth looking the brand up on Instagram and watching videos of people wearing the different styles, as some of them look great and not clown trouser-y! (Not an ad, they've just been on my wishlist for ages but are ££ so I've been doing a lot of research on which will be the right style for me)

Lentilweaver · 28/09/2024 08:55

I also wear elasticated trousers from Uniqlo. They have a new range every year

WickedWineWitch · 28/09/2024 09:03

@weareallcats @Lentilweaver

If I'm a size 12 in marks jeans do you know what size I'd go for waist wise in Levi's? 29 sounds too small, 30?
