What’s this shoe trend? Medieval jester?

I do love browsing the latest trends to see what people are wearing but I’m seriously struggling to understand when/how medieval inspired shoes came into fashion. Anybody get this? I can’t decide whether I hate them or not - the Khaite ones seem to be selling out super fast 😂

Poulaines! I once, for work, made a short documentary film about shoes, and medieval poulaines were discussed. Supposedly, they were representative of wang size.

The Khaite ones aren't too bad but it seems designers are out of ideas if they have to go back this far!

Give them 4 wears and the longer toed ones will have toes pointing skywards. They were a thing in the 90's as I recall and were butt ugly then too. The trend didnt last long.

I quite like the first pair. There's something quite 90s about them that appeals to me.

Go to a reenactment market (I can provide details) and get a pair of ultra pointy medieval boots in lovely soft leather for a lot less than £1,280.

Superb work, @Checkoutmyshoes - you have truly illuminated my comprehension of the Khaite collection. They must have had an entire year’s worth of interns scattered across the better European universities, poring over manuscripts and paintings.

The fact that they're selling out fast doesnt really mean anything, they might make very small numbers of items so it would look as if loads of people have bought them

I really like that suede jacket. No good for flabby tummy sticking out underneath it though.
