What’s this shoe trend? Medieval jester?

I do love browsing the latest trends to see what people are wearing but I’m seriously struggling to understand when/how medieval inspired shoes came into fashion. Anybody get this? I can’t decide whether I hate them or not - the Khaite ones seem to be selling out super fast 😂

Personally I am looking forward to my Satin Caterpillar era - thanks @MetaDaughter!

That dress looks like a condom on a deflating penis.

When I saw these I had some sort of medieval song playing in my head (lute)

You can buy it here if that’s your thing. It’ll also be great for Halloween I’m thinking

I really like the first ones, but I did have some ankle boots a bit like that in the 90s and I remember them being annoying to walk in 😂

Presumably this means pointy toes will be back in fashion for a few years.

Pointy boots or shoes like a shrew's nose often get a little ''bend'' in them and can also be a bit of a trip hazard.

Had these in the nineties, but with teetering spike stilettos. They were great for pulling blokes, but my god, the foot pain at the end of the night…

I quite like the Khaite ones.

Like pp, I’ll be glad to move from clompy to something more elegant.

Checkoutmyshoes · 12/09/2024 12:07

@VenusClapTrap this is what I think of when you said elegant: Gianvito Rossi boots

Though it has a higher heel than I like, they look so elegant and classic to me!

Oh yes. That takes me right back to Red Light Rush on Thursday nights down The Escape.

I love love love a pointy toe (pref not QUITE so lengthy and with one inch heel or similar) so if anyone could point this pleb in the direction of high street versions I will salute them with a lute-accompanied hoppity dance.

The totemes look so flimsy.

TheLurpackYears · 12/09/2024 13:37

I've had some like the man boots I the OPs link. I adored them but they were absolutely crippling to wear.
I've spent dozens of hours in lectures on iconographic sources connected to my field and spent a lot of time just sketching all the amazing shoes.

Omg, very impressive! I just recruited some other peasants and we did a tribute dance to you on the village green but the liege lord took agin us so we’re now in the stocks.

MetaDaughter · 12/09/2024 15:15

Oh no!

I’ll send him a few barrels of mead. That should get you out. 🍺🍺🍺

Nothing wrong with those boots. 😄 had a couple of pairs and similar shoes in the 90’s and they were very comfortable!
Not so much now, though.

Yeah this one’s a bridge too far for me. Agree that the belt is giving me North Pole.

Oh good, I already have wetsuit boots so I'll be right in fashion for once.

Bit sweaty for all-day wear though.

The ones without heels look like cycling shoe covers 😂

I had to google that and yes they do but more pointy.

I must say I’m starting to feel quite guilty about giving Khaite and Toteme so much free publicity. I mean what if they come up with more peasant chic at medieval couture prices?
