Beauty advent calendars 2024 #2

With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

Thanks for your thoughts @MidnightMeltdown @AprilLady and @MyStylish40s I am leaning towards leaving it for a while to see how my finances pan out and if it goes OOS then so be it. I was supposed to be having a no-spend month, but then had to fork out for exciting things like moth-killer earlier in the week🙀

I really struggle with the idea of spending a lot of money on one item, but don’t have the same issue buying lots of smaller/cheaper stuff that ends up costing the same. It’s weird!

I only signed up to the Wait list last week & I’ve had an email. It doesn’t really appeal to me though, so I am going to refrain

I've ordered the Space NK. I think it's definitely the best one this year. If I could afford it, I'd get F&M too. I've found so many of them disappointing this year. I'm not impressed by the Boots one.

My flannels beauty cracker just arrived and the two Caroline Hirons sets I ordered as well. It is taking all my strength not to dive into the cracker and use everything immediately 😂

However I'm not sure what to do as it's not an advent calendar. Might do an unboxing video for social, keeping in mind I've only got about 200 followers on my personal account and 1200 on my bookstagram account. 😂 Oh and I've never made a video before.

Has anyone had the Harrods box and tried the Tom Ford lipstick? I have always wanted a TF lipstick and was glad to see it wasn't a red as I don't suit reds but I'm not sure this is right either - it's a tad too brown. I don't want to try it on as I'll sell it if not keeping it. Does anyone rate it?

The colour is better than I thought as I was expecting it to be more orangey

I personally don’t think SpaceNk will reduce this year I think it will sell out before. I don’t even think Cult Beauty will this year either and they were throwing loads of offers last year (I hope it does though as could be tempted)
My money is on Harvey Nicks and Selfridges reducing if any. I am already working out what price would possibly make it worth a purchase for those!
It’s hard to predict though as it will depend on stock levels I guess you just have to weigh up how you would feel if it sells out. I think Spacenk is a fantastic advent this year but I own too many of the products already to justify a purchase for me but if I didn’t I would have bought now rather than wait

I agree. This is the first time I've had Space NK as my main calendar. I've had it a couple of times before with excellent offers, but I definitely see it selling out before they need to add GWPs.

Last year I had the Diptyque calendar, and although it was beautifully packaged the contents were disappointing, not in quality but in variety. Yes there were candles - I would even have been happy with a few more to be honest - but the rest was dull, lovely stuff but dull, a whole load of very nice Eau de toilettes and perfume in decent sized spritz bottles, but too many of them, a solid perfume in a lovely container that is too heavy to go in a small bag. A few shower gel/ hand cream samples. It didn’t really have the excitement that an advent calendar with many different products has, so for that reason I wouldn’t recommend it.

It could be that the first drop has sold out and it’s being restocked? It won’t have sold out completely.

It wouldn't surprise me if they are releasing in batches and 'selling out' to create a buying frenzy?
Although with that many other calendars out there this may just mean people switch to a different one?

No I think it's because they can only send out so many at once. When I ordered mine this morning the shipping date was 13th Sept. After the first batch sold out the shipping date changed to 17th Sept. I expect that it has something to do with logistics.

My H&B arrived today. I think the courier was exaggerating describing it as "outsize freight". That said, it was heavy. I opened it on the doorstep and brought the 4 of them in 2 at a time (courier dumped it on the doorstep, rang the doorbell and ran, presumably in case I suggested he brought it in to the hall).

Just ordered the SpaceNK calendar after being underwhelmed by the rest. Was just patting myself on my back when I realised that although I had updated my billing address, the delivery address was still my old address [eek]. I’ve send a message to Customer Services and now fretting until they tell me they can fix it, otherwise someone is getting an unexpected Christmas present!

I don't know what's going on with Harrods as I have had a 3rd email confirming my 3rd Fragrance calendar has been cancelled!

Boots is releasing a skincare calendar for £65 on Thursday, as well as a 12 day calendar for £99. I'm not impressed with the luxury calendar today so we will see.

Have you managed to find a spoiler for the Skincare one? Am sure I saw something that said they have 3 calendars this year, think the 3rd is the 12 Days of Luxury Beauty.
I also wasn’t impressed with the one today.

So... I bit the bullet and bought the
Space NK one, even though it was 288e and 5e delivery to Ireland 🫣. I'm justifying it by telling myself I'll use most of the products and use the stuff I don't like as stocking fillers for my adult daughters! And, I won't be tempted to buy another one!! Roll on December!!

@MrsBnow12 no I haven't seen a spoiler, but they've posted on social media to say all 2 are being released Thursday (even though one is already out). But as it's cheaper I'm wondering what sort of skincare will be included.
