With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

I actually use my jade gua sha and jade roller from my first H&B calendar every day. I was pleased to see them.

But then, they just kept coming…

Is anyone thinking of the Charlotte Tilbury one ? £170 for 12 days. I've ruled out Liberty and kind of liking Cult Beauty at the moment

I'm not a fan of 12 day calendars. It's not an advent calendar unless it's 24 days, unless using it for the 12 days of Xmas.

I had Clarins 12 day for the 12 days of Xmas last year. I didn’t really think it was value for me, even with 20% off. If the CT one has full-sizes, that might sway me - I want to try more of her products myself.

I'd have bought CB if day 25 hadn't been full of all hair products which I'll never use. I had it last year and it was far better. I'm ready to order my SpaceNK one which I had to forgo last year as I was made redundant.

As a tip for saving for these, I do the penny a day challenge. 1st Jan save 1p, 2nd Jan save 2p and then increase it every day. Gives you £660 by the end of the year and I don't notice the money going out.

I didn’t buy it but looking at last year’s contents I would this year if they are similar.

Despite the link, this was their 2023 calendar. It wasn’t discounted - that’s just their way of showing the ‘value’ of it.

Very late to the thread, but reporting for duty! It feels like the calendars come earlier each year - I’ve not really got on board with them yet as the kids haven’t gone back to school where we are, so I’m still in summer mode!

I’m going to get Space NK year. I missed out on it last year as I dithered too much as there was talk it would be discounted but then it sold out. I’ve been a fan of CB in the past but am not really feeling it this year. I do like that it has multiple products in lots of drawers though.

I’ll probably get LF too for January - I also find it great value.

I have to admit that I still have stuff from last year’s ACs which I haven’t opened yet. Time to start my September ritual of using up last year’s ACs to make room for the next stash!!!

H&B arrived today. Very pleased: I always struggle with the days getting shorter and anything that gives me something to look forward to is good! I’ve ordered Paxton & Whitfield too. Just waiting for the Rituals ones to come out so I can decide which to get for DD.

I agree about 12 days. Back to the drawing board. Thought the MacMillan Boots one might be worth looking at but nope.

Nothing to do with advent calendars, but @CordeliaNaismithVorkosigan lovely to have another Lois McMaster Bujold fan on the thread!

Also excellent to find another Georgette Heyer fan! (I think Bujold owes quite a lot to Heyer.)

These threads are my happy place. I agree with previous posters about space nk being very practical I think that’s where I’m struggling there’s lots in there that I love and use so it would make sense for
me to buy it but then again the reason some of them items are my go to’s is because I’ve discovered them over the years in advents etc and there’s nothing really in space nk I would be excited about if that makes sense so maybe I’d be best picking the likes of harrods or liberty where I know I would be excited by items/ new to me items etc and get some of my good old faithfuls from eBay of the space nk.

is all calendars bar boots and fenwicks revealed? Wonder is glossybox doing one this year I used to get it for my niece. Xx

@fadedrose The outer packaging - ie the one with the address, postage etc. on - isn’t branded, so as long as you tell her not to open the package at all until 1 December it will be a surprise.

Mine had a sticker saying “H&B Beauty advent calendar”, which was a bit of a give-away! Otherwise it was a plain cardboard box.

Hourglass is amazing @Giftwithpurchase , when I wore foundation I used their liquid to powder one and it would last 14+ hours.

I’ve unfollowed this thread now, got my AC, the big releases are all announced now, and will be seeing everyone on the Liberty AC opening threads. I asked DH a few times if he was considering getting me Vogue and he said to just pretend it doesn’t exist. I’m more a jewellery person anyway. Cult Beauty has announced The Skin Intellectuals set and they’ve just teased a CBxSali Hughes edit which should be right up my street. So with the Christmas limited editions, a skin edit and hopefully a winter bodycare kit or edit from Liberty, I’ve moved on from AC. Very excited about my first one though!

I think someone asked this upthread but I can’t see an answer - any news on an Elle calendar this year? I got one last year and really rated it.
