Beauty advent calendars 2024 #2

With just under 3 months to go until 1 December, there are some big decisions to be made! Thread to discuss advent calendars while we wait for more content revelations and release dates.

It's usually the type of thing marketed for 'tired and aching legs' recommended to pop in yout hand luggage for a long flight.

There is absolutely nothing of interest to me in that Advent Calendar, and I say that as someone who's bought it for the past six years. I'm sick of the sight of Percy and Reed, Colour Wow and Dr PawPaw.

I predict they will have hundreds of them still sitting on the shelves by Dec 1st.

I’ve been holding off making a decision as found a lump last week and went to the breast clinic today. All is ok, I’m so relieved, feel very lucky and now want to treat myself!! I like the Space NK one, with JL a possible, but v disappointed in M&S. I also love those hourglass palettes and may add one to my Christmas list or do they normally sell out? Another love of Arizona Bloom, Almond Blossom, and Sunflower pop and absolutely can not stand the rest so reading the perfume first put me off completely. Same with Space NK I would be so much more tempted if I like the scents but I don't like the Sol De Janeiro choice and I don't know what. Cult beauty fragrance choices are also one I have and one I had and didn't care for.

They all stock so many good perfumes, but not impressed by the choices

Meh, M&S is a real dud for me. 6 hair products that I won't use so that's a quarter of the calendar as duds. Then the rest of it is all fairly dull. More black eyeliner, red nail varnish and This Works sleep stuff...😴

That just leaves Boots Premium as a potential for me now, and if that's no good it'll be JL. I checked my order history for last year and I ordered on 10 Nov for £175.50 which must have been a reduction for Black Friday.

I’ve just been looking at fragrance shop AC. I’m going to wait to see what’s in the perfume shop one. I got it on a BF deal last year for less than £50 and was impressed with the contents. Both of these AC have male and female fragrances so I gifted the male ones, but I thought it was really good value. I am a sucker for mini perfume bottles though.

I'm not too excited by M&S either. I bought it for the first time last year and I was SO disappointed with it and hardly used any of the items. I'm still interested to see what Fenwick are offering this year.

I had an email about the L'Occitane calendars today, they look good value as well. I don't really need anything though...and I am not really into multiple hand and body creams.

Does anyone know if there's one that just sells shower gel and haircare? I'd probably use everything then.

Definitely worth treating yourself after a shock like that!

I remember going to M&S to return something a couple of years ago and the person on the till tried to flog me an advent calendar as they had dropped the £30 spend due to lack of sales, (may have just been my store). I declined as I had already bought one, (I loved it that particular year, though, so perhaps I should have got another!)

@MonkeyTennis34 I second the Flannels cracker, unless you want Lynx or the men’s Baylis & Harding. Men’s offerings are a bit limited.

This year doesn’t seem to be hitting the mark with ACs. I remember wanting several last year but this year I’m not really excited by any.
I think there will be some Black Friday Sales? Or maybe on this thread we’ve just had too many before & they’re not exciting anymore?
I’ve got Liberty so that may do me this year?

The Flannels fragrance crackers were reduced around Black Friday last year. I think I picked them up for about £40 each

I'm abroad this year over BF/Cyber Monday and likely to have limited internet, otherwise this would be a good plan. Think it sounds like I've talked myself into Space NK..!
