How many dresses do you have?

I met up with an old friend a few weeks ago for a lunch in John Lewis. We got onto the subject of how many dresses we possess in our wardrobe. My friend said she thought she owned about 8. I was shocked and felt I owned around 30 dresses minimum.

We both went home and counted up our dresses. I had 40 dresses and my friend just 20. So we were both inaccurate. 2 I haven't even worn yet!

I felt so guilty I donated 8 dresses to charity toute suite! My friend has never been that materialistic or shallow despite earning a handsome salary (60k) and she said she wd get rid of a few.

How many dresses do you all possess out of interest? I now have 32 hanging in my wardrobe....! How many is too many?

I have no idea. Probably more than 30.

I like dresses and have different ones for many different occasions....off to count dresses.

None. Two summer skirts and one winter.

None. I never wear them.

About 15. I acquired a bad scar on my cleavage a couple of years ago and so had to give a lot of my dresses away. 🙁

6 x sun/summer casual dresses
4 x winter casual

I would have to count but at least 30, maybe slightly higher. I have an entire double wardrobe dedicated to them and a few long skirts.

About 12 /13 I think. But I'm not that keen on dresses. A few I wear to work in the summer, a few I only ever wear on holiday, a few smart winter dresses I wear out or to work occasionally and some I'll probably never wear again but still love. Oh and one black one I bought for a relative's funeral several years ago and have since worn once, to another funeral. About half of them are black actually!

I'm going to guess around the 30 mark but you've made me want to count now!

Loads, I'm considering getting rid of some bodycon ones which are wildly out of date and half a size too small but am not sure about whether they'll come back any time soon and I'll lose that half a stone.

I think 3 or 4. I rarely wear them. Just don't ask me how many pairs of jeans I have...

Why do you feel guilty? If you wear them and enjoy them, fine. If not, give them to a charity shop and someone else can benefit.
I don't own any dresses. All those tiered floral things aren't for me. Personal choice. I think you have to find your own style. I have some plain cotton and linen skirts I team with loose shirts or tshirts when it's hot. Otherwise, trousers. I have 26 pairs of trousers!

I thought that sounded like a lot in your OP. I don't wear dresses usually apart from in the summer, on hot holidays and for special occasions. I have a few from my working days which I've held on to incase the need arises.
I've just totted up in my head and I must have about 20, which came as a bit of a shock. I live in leggings and trousers normal and have more dresses than I do 'bottoms'

Added 'sort through dresses' to my to do list. Any that haven't been worn for a while will go to a charity shop.

Not many, I don't really like wearing them much, and I find once you've been seen wearing it once or twice it becomes a bit of a uniform if wearing multiple times, whereas trousers/jeans you can make into various different outfits with different tops etc.

Two - I have my wedding dress and a mother of the bride dress I wore in March this year.

I have just been and counted my jackets and coats (I have one from when I was 18 and I still wear it occasionally) and a Levi jacket which I wear all the time (belonged to H in the 70s).

I am not saying ....

What I will say is that I'm glad our children have left because I'm using their wardrobes.

Oh and I haven't counted the dozen or so I keep elsewhere (there's at least two in the car).

Too many to count! But I'm always in a dress so only have 1 pair of jeans and a couple of pairs of trousers

That fit? Maybe two. In my closet? About 20.

About 12 I think, most of which are summer cotton/linen smart/casual which I wear a lot in summer but I wear trousers of some description most of the year. 3 or 4 cocktail/evening but these are only needed maybe once a year.

A lot more than 40. I don't feel guilty.
