Hi, could you help me? I’d love to get my shoulders out more and actually feel some sun (West Coast Scotland lol)! I’m middle-aged and mainly have to dress practically as have SEN child, 5ft 5, was obese lost weight but now v flabby stomach, I’m thinking some kind of loose but somehow also bandeau tops or dresses maybe? I’d just like to look and feel nice in myself again, it’s been years. (Yesterday I looked at wide leg denim dungarees with a bandeau vest too under but I’m not sure)
Thank you, I love your threads.

halfthesun · 17/05/2024 06:59

Hello! I'm tall at 5 10 and a size 10. Love dresses but need a high neck as feel my decollege is rather sun damaged. Can you help? Have about 100 pounds and the occasion is family garden party. Thank you Daffodil

@DoctorDolittle would love to help you. How about a Bardot shape top? Would look a bit more up to date than a bandeau. A few different ideas for you below. Next also do this shape every year in a variety of prints which is a really easy to wear style link

@Happyface120 ooh this sounds like an interesting one! What kind of glam are we talking? Fashionable, trendy style glam or Nadine Merabi style all out glam?

These are all gorgeous. Loving the navy shorts.

Tired00 · 17/05/2024 20:46

Hello! Thanks for starting a new thread, I loved the advice in it last time! I wondered if you could give me any ideas for what to wear for a long weekend at Disneyland Paris? Going with kids so need to be practical but also want to feel stylish! I was thinking shorts but not sure about the Bermuda style that’s out right now - early 30s, 5ft 6 size 10-12 and not sure what suit! 😊 x

frillseeking · 17/05/2024 21:35

@Peaceandquietandacuppa had a little look about but struggling with this one. When you say glitzy are you thinking metallic/ sequins kind of dressy? Difficult to find anything that's not backless or then completely covered up which will be too hot for July

@Tired00 I'd keep it simple with denim shorts and a tshirt or vest and maybe layer up with a linen shirt if you want to add a bit of fashion. Or something like these cargo shorts if you want something a bit different. If it's your vibe, I'd also suggest cycling shorts and an oversized tee (adanola have just launched some really nice summer styles.)

I had to include these Disney T-shirts from Matalan as well. I think it's nice to get into the spirit!

@frillseeking Thank you! Love some of the dresses - how can I track them down? Daffodil

Rainyblue · 18/05/2024 07:47

Hello love your threads! Any suggestions for how to look dressed up without wearing heels? Due to a knee injury I can’t wear heels for any length of time, and I have a couple of evening events coming up that I need to look a bit glam for. I worry that dresses don’t look right with flats. It’s too warm for boots.

I don’t like my knees, so only wear longer skirts or dresses.
I was wondering about some wide leg trousers instead?
I am 50 and a size 14.
thanks!

frillseeking · 18/05/2024 08:27

@halfthesun just let me know which ones you like and I'll link

Hiya! Back again sorry! Looking for help!!!!
Bought (impulse) a gorgeous pair of cream (sand shell?) shorts this morning; but I’ve no idea what colour to wear on top! I normally wear blue/white/navy combos in summer but I just loved the cream ones so said I’d get and if I can’t get a top il return. I’m dark blonde; fair (but wear tan) and size 10 but with a chest so I normally do v necks or sleeveless. (Mid 40s)
I’d expect to wear these with these
https://amzn.eu/d/d1duPgI but could prob wear with wedges also.

any help for a style or colour top appreciated for day and/or for evening on hols

thank you!!

*Sorry v necks NO sleeveless!

Jagsy · 18/05/2024 14:37

Hi I hope you can help me pls. Going on my first holiday in 6 years, hot country. I’m 5ft2, 11 stone, size 14 mostly maybe 16, and tummy area is something I hate to draw attention to. Pls can you suggest shorts, or tops or dresses I can buy for the holiday? Navy is my favourite colour, I like blues, greens, greys etc I have light brown hair and blue eyes if that helps. Thanks so much x

Tired00 · 18/05/2024 18:40

@frillseeking thank you so much! The Disney tees from Matalan ate a great shout too!

frillseeking · 18/05/2024 21:18

@Thisisthedawningoftheageofaquarius I would go for something like a gold metallic vest for evening. This would look really nice with the sandals and some gold jewellery and I'd pair with a belt like this one to tie in with the sandals. I also like this navy printed top for an evening look if you like prints. For daytime something like this sage tshirt would work with the cream (this could even be for a casual evening out as well)

@frillseeking please help!
I have an £80 Boden voucher to spend. It's not somewhere I tend to shop.

I am 52 ( how?) 10-14 pear shaped now with a post hysterectomy belly .

Happy to bump up the budget a bit but Boden isn't somewhere I look so am a bit over faced.
Love bright Colours
Love dresses
Have green R&B trainers that I would love to wear more
Struggle with trousers due to pearness.
Off to a friends get together next weekend hopefully a BBQ if the weather plays ball!
Any inspiration would be much appreciated.

frillseeking · 18/05/2024 22:28

@timefornewme2023 I think they do have some lovely pieces but because some of the prints are so bold, they're a little bit marmite and instantly recogniseable. I like this shirt dress link and this tiered maxi link. Prints are great for hiding a tummy and they both have a tie waist detail which provides a bit of extra coverage.

OP posts:
frillseeking · 18/05/2024 22:32

@timefornewme2023 this is also nice linkk*. I'd never pay that price for a jersey dress but as you have a voucher, that makes it a little easier to spend

Thank you for this thread.
I’ve just bought this Phase Eight dress to wear to a wedding, and am thinking of treating myself to some Esska sandals to go with it, but am struggling to choose a colour. I’m thinking maybe an orangey red (rather than a blue red) What would you go for?

I'm looking for some guidance/ inspiration too. Thank you OP!

I'm a size 16-18 , 5'5". Carry a lot of weight around waist. I have fingers crossed for an upcoming interview and the job will be regular meetings with C suite and Board. I basically need a new wardrobe. Professional looking- work wear. Please help 🙏🏻

Last few years I've been wearing anything. I also didn't have to go in to work much. But now hopefully things are changing for better.
