Could you recommend some nice sandals that are stylish but comfortable to be in daily without giving you shin splints! Nothing chunky or orthopaedic looking, something that goes with wide leg jeans, linen trousers etc.

Thank you!

Some summer layering ideas would be great. It’s been so chilly here in Scotland. A cardigan looks frumpy, a denim jacket is not good with jeans. I have an olive utility jacket but it’s quite dark. I am a really casual dresser so anything too formal just doesn’t feel comfy day to day. Any ideas? Thanks!

frillseeking · 06/07/2024 22:06

Not sure if these will be your style @WildFlowerBees but I live in this style of sandal for every day with wide legs and jeans a tshirt and find them super comfy

Thank you for replying! Not really my style a bit too chunky but they look comfortable.

@WildFlowerBees air and Grace might be worth a look. They are very good quality and comfy but a little more dainty looking

@redfacebigdisgrace layering has been essential this summer with the weather we've had 🙄 couple of inspo ideas. I wear my trusty bomber for every day- it goes with jeans, wide legs I even wear with a tshirt and gym leggings. I'm also loving the leopard trend and this jacket from mint velvet is gorgeous. Bit of a statement piece but it would jazz up any basic outfits. Chuck on jeans and a tshirt and you're good to go!

Great, thank you!

redfacebigdisgrace · 07/07/2024 08:23

@frillseeking thanks so much. I like the leopard one. I have quite big shoulders so the bomber style looks a bit manly on me 🤣

frillseeking · 07/07/2024 08:48

@redfacebigdisgrace here's the link for you. I agree with Erica Davies that leopard is a neutral- it goes with anything so this is the type of piece you'd get lots of wear out of

@frillseeking thanks! I’ve just ordered it. 😂 Weather doesn’t look to be improving any time soon so I splashed out for next day delivery!

Sleepismyfavourite · 07/07/2024 10:08

Thanks @frillseeking, any ideas for dresses for this kind of in between weather we’re having? Something that would carry through until autumn?

Sleepismyfavourite · 07/07/2024 10:09

I’ve also been wondering what type of skirts are in fashion at the moment. I used to wear skirts all the time but then found it too much of a faff to match them with top & shoes as tend to live in trainers.

frillseeking · 07/07/2024 13:20

@Sleepismyfavourite you'll notice the shops are starting to get transitional styles in at the moment. The colours will be slightly more autumnal and the print bases a little darker, like this leopard print style from M&S. If the weather turns sunny again 🙏🏻, you could wear with sandals but they would carry you through to autumn with a pair of ankle boots and leather jacket

Re skirt styles, the denim midi is still going strong and is a an easy, daytime style that looks good with trainers. For a trend piece, the full maxi skirt is everywhere this summer and is surprisingly easy to wear. It's a good style for summer as looks great paired back with a vest and sandals but as shown here, it can be worn with layers and trainers to take you through to autumn

Thanks @frillseeking, that’s so helpful. I particularly like the printed button down dress from H&M & I see it comes in other colours/ patterns too! Also the maxi skirt from M&S looks really versatile & I can imagine wearing it a lot. I think I’ll order both of those. Very grateful for your advice for taking the time to do this.

frillseeking · 07/07/2024 13:59

@Sleepismyfavourite no probs! The H&M dress is super versatile. You could wear out for drinks or dinner with drinks but equally it would work with a blazer for the office. It's a staple piece that they bring out every season in various prints so worth keeping an eye on. The skirt is also a good piece- I like how they've styled it simply on the website but again, I can see it with a smarter top and gold shoes and jewellery for an evening look

hi @frillseeking I’m so happy you are still here! I love jumpsuits at the moment (having only just discovered them). I have a linen - cotton blend one which is great but goes a bit saggy and wrinkly.
have you seen any nice jersey jumpsuits - wide leg; fitted around the waist (baggy with waist ties don’t suit me).
Ideally a V neck & with cap sleeves. Sort of a nice but casual day look in navy or black?

Thank you!!!

DarlingCoffee · 10/07/2024 21:24

I need some office wear ideas for the City. Hourglass UK16! Can you help
please @frillseeking?

Gofastboatsmojito · 10/07/2024 21:33

Hi @frillseeking , I'd love some help please if you've got enough time and ideas.
I'm after anything really, especially like dresses and jumpsuits but also tops and anything else!

I'm a 43 year old size 14, medium height and apple shaped. Good legs, small bum. 34J and too much podge round the middle and the back.
Caucasian, mid brown hair

Style wise I like slightly edgy or retro items but nothing too fancy dress. I like jewel colours, esp greens and teals. I like prints, pref geometrics and avoid florals unless they're oversized or semi geometric or otherwise interesting florals.

Any suggestions which spring to mind would be very appreciated. Thanks.

halfpasteleven · 10/07/2024 22:19

Hello @frillseeking
I'm 5ft 3" size 10 and would love to embrace the wide leg trousers/jeans trend but cannot find any that don't make me look dumpy!
Would love your suggestions please
Thanks a million!

hailholyqueen · 25/07/2024 11:49

Just to say, thanks again for the fantastic advice about H&M puff sleeved tops and the pull on trousers, they've become my staples @frillseeking 🙏🏻

halfpasteleven · 25/07/2024 22:10

@hailholyqueen would you mind linking the trousers please?
Thanks so much!

hailholyqueen · 25/07/2024 23:10

@halfpasteleven these are the full length ones: Wide pull-on trousers www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.1216645006.html

And these are the cropped ones: Cropped pull-on trousers www2.hm.com/en_gb/productpage.0971104028.html

Hope that helps
