Thanks @Housewife2010 , I may be leaving Beauty Drop but I'm definitely sticking with these threads! 😀

Bimblesalong · 12/03/2024 15:30

Thanks for the new thread. Continuing the discussion from the last one, I was given some Dior perfume for Mother’s Day. The packaging was indulgent, recyclable and contained additional sample freebies. Unboxing was lovely and encourages me to purchase from Dior again. Come on, Liberty!

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 12/03/2024 15:42

Thank you for the new thread

Thank you for the new thread!

I agree with all the pps about the packaging. I don't expect bags and boxes but tissue paper cost next to nothing. It doesn't feel luxury at all.

Thanks OP Grin

I purchased the Net a Porter beauty kit that was linked earlier. Thank you to the poster who shared the info. It came in a lovely bag, great price for some new to try products.
I must say that generally Net a Porter packaging has gone downhill too. Every item used to come in a box/bag beautifully wrapped. They sent me a Khaite sweater in a bit of tissue and cardboard box…had to send it back as it was faulty with a big hole in it! A lot of luxury stores have lost their sparkle with regards to the nice “extras” it’s all a bit slap dash now.
I remember receiving a Liberty dressing gown many years ago…it was wrapped and boxed with bows..the good old days 😁 how I miss them!

LoveLabradors · 12/03/2024 16:44

Thanks for the new thread 😊

violetmondays · 12/03/2024 16:53

I love nice packaging. Definitely would tempt me to buy from somewhere.

Just out of interest what do people do with the lovely boxes from these places? I have the Liberty boxes and some other ones sitting in a pile empty, waiting for a use for them but I can't think of anything to put in them!

listsandbudgets · 12/03/2024 17:04

My necklace turned up - in brown paper!!

Not impressed with it to be honest the stones looked a lot bigger in the picture and in real life they absolutely miniscule. I'm considering returning it if I can cope with the stress. It was "only" £84 pounds but in all honesty I suspect I could have got something equally pretty for a tenner in the market

SoloCat · 12/03/2024 17:22

Apologies…thanks for the new thread 😁

Ahhhh Dior packaging if you buy direct is really lovely and yes samples are generous too. I always keep packaging for wrapping up Vinted sales.

Also Dior used to do a free engraving service too even on lipsticks!

HellsBells67 · 12/03/2024 17:30

Totally agree re the packaging being a let down. I had to return a smashed to smithereens Emma Bridgewater jug that was so utterly under wrapped and of course it was then out of stock for a replacement. I buy a fair bit from Selfridges with the annual delivery next day pass and everything is wrapped in gorgeous yellow striped tissue, often items in cloth bags. Liberty is not selling itself here.

LadyLapsang · 12/03/2024 17:56

Amusing tale on Liberty ordering / wrapping and initiative / customer service. I ordered a necklace and small gift bag. They cancelled the necklace and delivered the gift bag! To be fair, usually their customer service is very good, both in store and online.

LadyLapsang · 12/03/2024 17:57

I haven’t cancelled Beauty Drop but will review after the next box.

Isabelle70 · 12/03/2024 18:48

I have cancelled my subscription but I will follow along in case I want to pick any items on eBay.
I didn't need it but I got the valentine wash bag off eBay for £18 to store my stash!

TheChosenTwo · 12/03/2024 18:52

Well I’m on my own with not caring about the packaging then! I just don’t care about it, I have bought what’s inside and the external packaging is just clutter in my eyes. I’m not keeping it to store and have boxes etc hanging around with no purpose, pretty paper or whatever, I recycle it all straight away. If I buy a present for someone from somewhere I’m not going to put it in packaging from somewhere else!
However it does need to be functional and protective - things arriving unwrapped/damaged is not acceptable.

CocoMascara · 12/03/2024 19:04

Can anyone remember when the loyalty vouchers are next issued?

wheresmyshoe · 12/03/2024 19:27

Thank you for the new thread. I was rather surprised when my £260 dress came folded/creased in a cellophane envelope within a paper package.

listsandbudgets · 12/03/2024 19:30

@CocoMascara End of April for loyalty vouchers I believe - seems a very long time from the end of February

listsandbudgets · 12/03/2024 19:52

Just tried necklace on - it's certainly more delicate than I expected but much prettier on than off so I've decided I'll keep it after all... phew was feeling cheated.

LemonJuiceFromConcentrate · 12/03/2024 20:13

Thanks for the new thread 🙂

I’m a packaging appreciator.

Things being packaged with care is an acknowledgement from the retailer that they have value and will be special to you. It’s reassuring.

I’ve been thinking about buying a scarf from Liberty as a birthday present to myself. Still unsure about it — it’s priced in the 400s. (Big birthday.)

but this thread is giving me pause. I’d actually hate it if I did buy it and it arrived all creased in a plastic wrapper like some random kitchen cloths from Amazon — it would feel a little contemptuous. Like, “Now that we’ve got your money, why would we bother treating this thing like it’s special?”
