How old is this bride?

I'm thinking of wearing this for my wedding. My friend think it ages me considerably. Wedding is informal and low key. How old would you think the bride would be wearing this?

No!
The sleeves are a nightmare and that blouson bodice is awful. I am sure you will find something that is perfect. This is not it.

The bride is the age of whoever is wearing it.

Wedding dresses don't come with ages.

redboots765 · 13/02/2024 19:44

op you need a new thread..this is the sort of thing I like, I have £200 please help me.

For the love of god don't spend more. It's enough, you have a child and I'm sure many things you can spend £2000 on. a dress for one day, should not be that.

One day!! don't get swept up in the wedding crap, you won't care after the day. Google wedding blues, you will feel that if you spend 2K on a dress.

It's a celebration of your love, you just need to look lovely, mumsnet can help you look fab for £200. I'm sure of it.

Literally, any age - so elegant, so dignified, absolutely marvellous!

Thecurtainsarewonky · 13/02/2024 20:10

Any age could wear it, but you’d need to be tall and thin to pull off that waist- otherwise it will look frumpy.

CinnamonTree · 13/02/2024 20:20

@redboots765 I will not be spending more than a couple of hundred don't worry 😁 We're very low key people. We want a beautiful ceremony under the trees with our families and our children. Our marriage is the union of our lives together and that is the most important thing for us. I'd rather use the money towards our family holiday / honeymoon later on in the year. I know all that sounds cringey but it is true.

But if you have some ideas I'd love to hear them.

Wow the responses on this thread! I'm stunned. Thank you all for your input and support. I won't tag people as such but I will answer the questions I remember:

Wedding is informal and will be an outside affair. Small ceremony and then lovely pub for after. We will have about 15 guests. I don't think a really big fancy dress will suit the occasion and tbh as much as I will feel fantastic I will feel fantastic in any dress that will be special to both me and my husband. We are both so happy to get married.

The maids to measure dress I adore but I do think it is a bit bland for a wedding? I don't know though but I do love it.

I also like the following:

https://www.needleandthread.com/products/petunia-gown-champagne-1

https://www.monsoon.co.uk/camilla-embroidered-bridal-dress-ivory-64637946.html

https://www.monsoon.co.uk/isla-bridal-skirt-ivory-20000170016.html

Skirt would need a top. I don't like the Monsoon top it is horrible.

I'm reluctant to buy from vinted without going to try on and buy in person. I'd happily buy second hand though. I do love a bargain if it is right.

I don't really have a set style as you'll notice but I know what I like. I'm the sort of person who goes out looking for the perfect black dress and always buys something so far removed.

The pink version of that Petunia dress is gorgeous.
Probably not what you want for a wedding but just saying 😅

Ulysees · 13/02/2024 20:35

@CinnamonTree that was my sentiments when dh and I married. My wedding, meal after and party didn't cost much. I decorated the room for the party with a friend. Made some decorations for the table. Pound shop helped. I would rather spend the money on the house etc. We cruised for the honeymoon.

Whippetlovely · 13/02/2024 23:47

I’m sorry I’m not keen on this at all , looks like an old ladies nighty so I get what your friend is saying. It may be the picture and look nicer on hopefully. Sounds like your not too keen on it either op so keep looking for something you will know when it’s right
