Do use a handbag still

Since paying by phone has taken over and less use for cash or cards I never seem to use a handbag. Off I go with just my phone and coat with various things tugged in pockets. But I feel that I need to re-organise my self. Do you still have handbag, purse, phone all separately? The last purse I used was a massive spotty cath kidston one!

I haven't really used a handbag since having kids! I just shove stuff into pockets like you

TokyoSushi · 09/02/2024 22:00

No really rarely now, just phone & bits in pockets.

Mairzydotes · 09/02/2024 22:04

I always carry a bag, I feel my pockets aren't secure enough for my phone and keys. I've noticed hardly anyone else seems to carry a handbag.

Zoraflora · 09/02/2024 22:05

Yes I love love love handbags so will always carry one!

DisforDarkChocolate · 09/02/2024 22:05

Not so much in the winter. The pockets on my Didriksons are massive, and warm.

Quizine · 09/02/2024 22:07

Just a small cross body bag with a foldie uppy shopping bag just in case! Phone in pocket always. If the weather is bad, then a slightly bigger bag to carry an umbrella.

MidnightMeltdown · 09/02/2024 22:07

I never leave the house without a bag. However I always carry the 'essentials' - makeup, umbrella, water bottle, mirror, hand sanitiser etc as well as phone, purse and keys

rainydogday · 09/02/2024 22:07

I feel so frumpy and mumsy if I do take one out. For example on a night out if I need to put keys, lipstick in it etc. mind you I am mumsey! If you were to buy a new bag what would it be? I don't mean high end designer, but what style? I do like a nice brown soft leather type.

I do, all the time. Partly because I love bags so enjoy choosing one and using it but I also hate stuff in pockets.

I guess I do carry a lot of stuff. Like to have lip balm, mini deodorant etc.

My keys are heavy, I've usually got a water bottle and other bits.

suki1964 · 09/02/2024 22:09

I can mind last time I carried a handbag. Even the clutch bag I carried for a wedding only had my vape in it :)

I do have a cross body purse which takes my loyalty cards and phone and a few small items and thats it

Katieflake · 09/02/2024 22:10

Since I started wearing reading glasses I’ve realised why ‘older’ women are rarely without a handbag!

K0OLA1D · 09/02/2024 22:11

Not unless we are going to the pub. Then I have a little over the body bag. I have a laptop bag for work.

If it's a day out anywhere with the kids, like a museum then I might take my rucksack. It's never got much of mine in it though!!

I have never been a baggy or a shoey person for that matter. And I am at a point in my life where me being comfortable definitely comes first!

I've got a few cross body/sling bags for nights out. I'm not a clutch bag fan because I don't want to hold it all night.

Day time I generally have a tan tote or cross body. Or for days out where I need more stuff I've got a smallish leather backpack. I prefer neutral bags that go with everything.

I don't really buy any coloured bags except a couple I've bought to match wedding outfits.

If someone asked me what I wanted I would have a dr marten cross body bag I think

I can't imagine going out without a handbag. I drive almost everywhere so don't usually need a heavy coat, and I need a bag for my purse, makeup bag, hairbrush, phone, car keys, house keys, pencil case, and all the other little things that I tend to carry round with me. I've always used a nice large bag as I couldn't fit the things I need into a small one.

Uniqlo mini shoulder bag like this. Round Mini Shoulder Bag (Corduroy) | UNIQLO GB Lots of different colours and they are like Mary Poppins bags, you can fit the kitchen sink in there.

Oh this looks really handy!

My (reasonably smallish) bag contains;

Phone
Purse for coins
Lipstick
Hairbrush
Small pack of tissues
Pen
Notepad
Paracetamol
Moisturiser with SPF

Occasionally my kindle, gloves and various baby paraphalia go in there too. I can't imagine not having a bag!

idontlikealdi · 09/02/2024 22:18

Yes. Mostly cross body, phone, keys. Glasses, random shit that accumulates.

Mum2jenny · 09/02/2024 22:19

Unless I’m just walking the dog, I take my handbag everywhere

rainydogday · 09/02/2024 22:21

@K0OLA1D wow the Doc mini bags are really cute.....

I have a dr martens back pack (smaller one) and dr martens side bag which I alternate. & for Christmas DH got me a bag just big enough for my phone & 2 cards which I use if I don't want to have a bigger bag 😂

Pencil case - LOL! I thought that I carried a lot around with me 😂

rainydogday · 09/02/2024 22:24

I do have a massive work bag on wheels for a laptop. Which I also carry bits and bobs in. I started to think about getting a hand bag sorted again when I bought some nail files. Organised people have bags with tissues and nail files! I wasn't very good when I had small children either. Used to stuff a spare nappy in my pocket!

I will sometimes do the school run with keys/phone in my pocket but it's just at the end of the road. Can't imagine going anywhere longer than that without a bag - keys, purse (in case Apple Pay has a meltdown), book, headphones, 18 random lipglosses that are at the bottom of my bag, an old snack bar from when DS was a toddler etc etc.
