Fellow apple shaped women, have you found any dresses you love recently?

Hi all, I need a dress or two to wear on days I have to go in to work. No real dress code (NHS) so looking for comfort and practicality.

I have no waist, it has disappeared and I am struggling to know what might suit me now. Anyone a similar shape found something flattering?

That Hush mini cord dress is very similar to what I have/wear/look good in.

I’m a large 10 sometimes 12, so I’ve ordered the small. Other things I’ve had from them in the past have been generously sized.

I just remembered this dress, that I bought in the autumn and is very flattering on me. It’s that rare beast, a drop waist, and I wear the neckline open which looks better than in the photos of the model. I don’t tie the stupid bow thing, just let it hang loose.

I have just bought this dress. I am a size 16 apple, and 5'3". It fits really well, and the quality is fabulous for the price!

I have this. But I tumble dried it and the collar has gone all twisted 😔

How annoying! I systematically ruin all my clothes eventually...tumble drying non drying clothes, washing cashmere on a hot cycle, shrinking trousers by boil washing. And always the stuff I really like 🤨

Ok so I’m belatedly back with my Hush cord dress report. Sleeves are full-length I’m afraid, but easy to roll up. The length on me is mid-knee so it’ll be below knee on you.

Oh well that's money saved 😂

Need to get my arse into gear and lose 1-2 stone and start wearing my lovely dresses that used to fit.

I am an Apple… Empire line dresses are our enemy. I would go for fit & flare and shirt dresses. Bias-cut satin slips look great if you are straight up and down but have no waist.

Here are a couple of examples of the linen dress. They have pockets and skim the body and hang really well. I'd size down. I have them in several colours, having discovered them a couple of years ago. They do crease but that's linen for you!

It's funny isn't it, bias cut anything makes me look like a snooker ball in a sock 😂

@Lookingfornemo most of my dresses like that, I just buy the tunic length ones so they are above knee length on me.

Let us know how it is @TJH1 ! It really is a lovely dress in two beautiful colours. I don’t think it’ll suit me though, I think it might make me look pregnant, so keen to know what you think.

@Seas164 - I think I can wear bias cut because I have smallish boobs, a huge rib cage (was an opera singer years ago, then carried twins which made it even bigger) and I am so short-waisted there is barely an inch between my hip and my rib cage. (I have a flobby tum from carrying twins and huge weightloss too.) I tend to wear bias cut with a jumper over the top.

i am a tall apple and have always found dresses a nightmare. Nowadays things are worse because my natural apple shape has been even more emphasised by peri. However: this dress in the tall length looked so good that I bought it in two colours.
