Fellow apple shaped women, have you found any dresses you love recently?

Hi all, I need a dress or two to wear on days I have to go in to work. No real dress code (NHS) so looking for comfort and practicality.

I have no waist, it has disappeared and I am struggling to know what might suit me now. Anyone a similar shape found something flattering?

Following with interest as I also don't have a waist! I have several of these dresses from Seasalt. Keep an eye out for their Spring/Summer linen dresses as they don't have a waist and hang beautifully.https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/heartfelt-dress. I also have this one and it is perfect too. https://www.seasaltcornwall.com/killick-knee-length-shift-dress?color=17830

Heartfelt Knitted Dress

A finely knitted swing dress that's one of our seasonal favourites. Flattering panelled design with delicate knit stitch details down the front, easy drop shoulders and an elegant boat neck. Two large apron pockets add the finishing detail.

This one is lovely. Still a little spendy but much reduced from original price!

@Cheswick I am very apple shaped and live in this style of dress. It skims the tummy very well.

I’ve also just ordered this as I wanted to see if the shape works for me. https://www.thewhitecompany.com/uk/Stitch-Detail-Cocoon-Dress/p/A10694?swatch=Navy

Love this! Smile

I second the Seasalt knitted and linen dresses mentioned by @Lookingfornemo

VincentVanGoth · 18/01/2024 20:51

I tend to go for a wrap dress or a smock.
i love some of Duns Swedens older patterns, you could probably pick up second hand if that’s your type of thing. Also get quite a bit from Popsy clothing.

Oh replies! Thank you everyone, I love all of these!

Anyone who is a true apple shape surely doesn't suit a wrap dress?

Make me look pregnant!

Orangeoranges42 · 18/01/2024 22:08

@RandomMess cI always find this baffling apples are told wrap dresses- I agree I deffo look pregnant in wraps 😫

Notellinganyone · 18/01/2024 22:09

I’m a definite Apple with big boobs and I love wrap dresses.

RandomMess · 18/01/2024 22:57

An apple has a bigger tummy than boobs regardless of how big the boobs?

Januarydontbecool · 18/01/2024 23:00

Wrap dresses don't work for me. Fatface Simone ones do. They have generous pockets, are usually made from natural fibres and scarcely need ironing.

IPlayMyGuitar · 19/01/2024 00:03

I wish shops would use more that the one slim body type in the photos. I'm an apple and I can never guess what dresses will look like on me so I never risk ordering on line.

mamboshirt · 19/01/2024 06:25

Sorry to hijack but if anyone knows of ones that deliver to Australia I would be very thankful. I tried to buy theTOAST gingham one but they don't deliver here. Exactly what I was looking for too :(

So hourglass then!!!

Im an apple, I wouldnt be caught dead in a dress, they all look terrible on me

Trousers and top every time.

RandomMess · 19/01/2024 07:23

I'm super short so wear long tunics as above the knee dresses and a lightly padded push up bra which means the fabric hangs down from boobs, just skims my tummy and shows that I have slim hips.

Trousers and tops work but getting the tops the correct length and tightness is tricky.

Susannah & Trinny book on what to wear is helpful. 10 body shapes and what suits them. I tried out clothes for V apple and column shapes and I'm 100% apple

FatFace do, if you swipe through the photos for a product they often have a larger model as well as a slim one.

As an apple with a very big tummy I like this style of dress, it hides my mid-section but I can undo the top buttons to create a V neckline so it draws the eye upwards. I have to avoid empire line or anything that has a belt or defined waist.
