I've given the hair pomade to my partner to use as a beard balm... he likes it!

GreigeO · 20/01/2024 19:16

I find the hair pomade too strongly scented

Same here. I've tried it today as a leave-in conditioner but it's left my hair feeling very rough and tangled. Will try it as a wave definer another day and see how that works, also see whether I can tolerate the scent.

PurpleWhirple · 20/01/2024 22:00

I love the scent of the hair pomade but haven't tried it yet, I'm worried it will be too heavy for my fine hair. I'll try it tomorrow when I have nowhere to go

CanImakethisbetter · 20/01/2024 22:07

I have really fine hair and it worked lovely. Made my hair really shiny and no flyaways.

I did only use a tiny bit though then added a little more

CocoMascara · 21/01/2024 10:06

I LOVE LOVE LOVE the hair pomade. I have curly hair (3a), it’s fine in texture but thick in quantity. I used a small amount when my hair was still slightly damp and it’s defined my hair beautifully, was also good on the second day, it didn’t seem to be too heavy or make my curls flat. Will definitely repurchase.

re the spruce hand cream. The last one I used as a foot cream. Like a pp I also thought it was an odd Christmas tree smell, but didn’t it seem so weird on my feet!

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 21/01/2024 10:24

@PurpleWhirple my hair is really fine and the pomade is really good on it (and smells divine). Like @CanImakethisbetter I used a tiny amount at first and then added to it so it wasn’t too heavy. I put a little on my hands, rub them together and then smooth over the flyaways.

PurpleWhirple · 21/01/2024 15:46

Another fine haired fan of the pomade, it's gorgeous! I also loved the oil from one of last years boxes but my hair isn't dry and the oil was a bit heavy. The pomade is perfect. I'll definitely repurchase (she says not having looked at the price 😂)

soupdragon321 · 21/01/2024 19:33

Hi all, I’ve been getting these boxes for a while now, some good some not so great. However, can anyone confirm something fir me. I was under the impression that your bank of £20 a month can ONLY be used on things within the beauty department. I’ve seen posts of people saying they’re saving for jewellery, but I thought you had to use it on beauty? Thanks!

BCSurvivor · 21/01/2024 19:39

@soupdragon321 I mainly use my credit for fabric, so I assume you can use it on anything, plus you get free postage, regardless of the price.

CornishPorsche · 21/01/2024 19:46

@soupdragon321 I've spent most of mine on jewellery including Maria Tash. In the store though, they couldn't make it work at the Maria Tash counter, but it works great online!

soupdragon321 · 22/01/2024 10:00

Ooh wow, I had no idea! That’s great news as I don’t actually use that many beauty products, but love jewellery!

Jellycats4life · 22/01/2024 10:13

Yep @soupdragon321 Liberty say your balance can only be spent on beauty, but in reality the website converts your money into a voucher which can be redeemed on anything you like.

The website doesn’t have the functionality to restrict which departments you can redeem the voucher against 😄

ExtremelyJoyous · 22/01/2024 14:25

Hi all, I’ve just cancelled my subscription (😢) but when doing so it said it would be cancelled from February.. I assume this means I’ll still pay the February credit so should hold off on doing any orders until then??

D20 · 22/01/2024 17:56

I’ve cancelled this month but I’ve no idea if another £20 will be collected or not. My sub comes out between 31st-2nd with no rhyme or reason and my cancellation date is down as 31st Jan.

If you shop in store they take it as a voucher also. I buy fabric with mine

See the first kit of the year is out! I’m going to pass on this one

dullandgrey · 23/01/2024 10:08

Oh that's a shame. Not for me either!

mejustmenothingtobe · 23/01/2024 10:08

Oooo I am quite tempted actually….any reviews from those who have used any of the contents before?

CornishPorsche · 23/01/2024 10:19

Looks like a nice kit, but I don't do baths so bath oil is a waste for me when it can't be used as a shower oil instead.

I also feel like the only person left who hates masks - floppy cold rubber or coldlt wet cheap papery stuff on my face doesn't make me feel nice. It's also incredibly wasteful. I've never seen a positive effect from a mask to make it worthwhile.

Imnotadentist · 23/01/2024 10:26

I’m passing too. Already have some masks in my kit and by now they seem to be becoming a cheap filler for these kits. And the plastic waste as previous poster said is a turn off too. Not interested in products that go on your intimate areas that aren’t from a chemist (ie medically tested). The hair product I think we had in the 2022 calendar and it was fine but I wouldn’t repurchase. Which only leaves the bath oil and balm of interest.
It’s a Valentine’s kit - where’s the 20ml of your rose based perfume? (I know we’ve just had a tester in the drop but does no thought go into these things?)

Another76543 · 23/01/2024 10:30

I like the new kit, but don’t think I’ll buy it because the scent of the bath oil you receive is random. I doubt I’ll like 2 of them.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 23/01/2024 10:30

Not for me either. I love the bag but I already have the bath oil in that scent and nothing else interests me enough. I probably would have bought it if the bath oil had been in another scent though. Other than that, I have no interests in single use masks and, while the intimate oil would be nice for massage or as a body oil, nothing scented goes anywhere near anywhere 'intimate' as that's just an instant recipe for a not so romantic fungal infection.

SwordBilledHummingbird · 23/01/2024 10:32

Oh, I just realised that you get one of three scents for the bath oil. Ok so I'm a bit tempted now as I love Verden and was looking at buying the bath oils in the scents I don't have anyway (I have Herbanum). It's free returns isn't it?
