@TheSandHurtsMyFeelings I agree, this is quite an undignified ending in my opinion

Orangeslemon · 13/02/2024 18:01

I’ve spent quite a bit more than my Beauty Drop credit since joining in 2021 so they’ve definitely had a lot of purchases from me that they wouldn’t have had otherwise.

I just don’t think it’s worth £60 for the boxes plus having £240 tied up as credit. If the extra £5 was credit I’d most likely have carried on but as it is I’m going to continue until the April box then probably cancel.

I’ve committed myself to buying only the Liberty advent calendar for the past two years as I’ve wanted to use my credit towards it but I’ll be more open to other options this year.

OooScotland · 13/02/2024 18:03

Is anyone staying?

Gensola · 13/02/2024 18:05

Lol I have cancelled - the boxes are way too variable for me to pay anything for them. I’d rather pay for a Fab Fit Fun or similar box. Not sure what they’re playing at but it’s a no from me

LaBrujaPiruja · 13/02/2024 18:06

Third email with a clarification, hahaha

Ap24 · 13/02/2024 18:06

CornishPorsche · 13/02/2024 17:56

@Ap24 aaargh. Affect v effect. Grrrr.

They had set the bar so low by not sending me most emails about product/kit launches. So I was just impressed they bothered to reply at all!

Pootle40 · 13/02/2024 18:08

I'll go against the grain -£60 a year for the 4 boxes is good value. The little Dermalogica cleanser would be at least £10/15 on its own I reckon. I'll stick with it as often these sorts of things are good for travel beauty items but f hand luggage only. In the grand scheme of things I won't miss £5 a month which I suppose is what they are hoping for.

I’m holding on until the next box in April and then deciding I think.

TreesinthePark · 13/02/2024 18:10

I've just had the third email for clarification, wouldn't be surprised if new members receive it too!

Corknut · 13/02/2024 18:12

I’m so disappointed. I was thinking about being tied to Liberty and the £20 but this is ridiculous. I cancelled as soon as I got the email. Like others said I have spent a fortune with them, well over £20 a month and buy the calendar every year on top of that! Crazy business decision

Do you think they just want to get the scheme back down to a manageable level (even with the enforced savings aspect it was in the end FREE BEAUTY PRODUCTS so it must have grown hugely) or is this a first step and they’ll be ending it in a couple of months? I joined in October and spent ages checking it was legit before I subscribed. It sounded too good to be true!

I've had the third email too.

viques · 13/02/2024 18:13

Ridiculous! Just had a THIRD email. apparently I am “ outside my contract time” with BB, so my new charge will be from March . I have never had a “contract” with them for BB and am willing to bet no one else has either. So like most others on here I am out, mostly because charging an additional £60 a year for stuff the manufacturers are giving them either for free to promote or at a huge discount is a bloody cheek, but also because they are so extremely incompetent*. Three confusing and contradictory emails in one afternoon.

They are going to miss all those £200 being spent aren’t they.

*and also because for some reason they have stopped stocking Floris bath essence, they still stock their other bath stuff but not the bath essence.

SarahC50 · 13/02/2024 18:14

I emailed for clarification but I am also cancelling. Really shitty way to treat subscribers to the beauty drop. Not worth it for me not worth it to use their clunky unusable website. Won't be saving for the advent calendar so lost a customer there. Cancelled it now and told them why

laclochette · 13/02/2024 18:16

Super cheeky of them to falsely claim that they are extending the benefits of credit spend and free postage to the entire inventory, when it has always been the case (I have plenty of proof of this, having ordered various non-beauty items using my credit and got the free postage).

I am so miffed about the whole thing that I might email and say I'm reporting them to the Advertising Standards Authority as this is a pretty flagrant misrepresentation in a commercial email.

All in all I think I'll cancel my subscription. £60 a year for effectively free postage is insane. Space NK and Sephora offer free delivery for £10 a year. I have to wonder what the marketing team there are up to - pretty amateur behaviour.

cancandt123 · 13/02/2024 18:19

Yea I felt the need to email them and tell them why I was cancelling. Won't make any difference but I feel better for doing it

Pinenu · 13/02/2024 18:19

It’s not much notice (for those of us with one month) either. It’s a shame how it’s been handled but overall, I’ll continue to shop with Liberty if they have stock and it’s not cheaper elsewhere.

I originally signed up to save for the calendar so I’m going to try to continue putting £20 aside for an end of year treat.

I’ll be sad to not join these threads though.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 13/02/2024 18:24

Yeah, the 'outside of your contract' thing is really weird, on top of everything else.

Terrible Comms and PR!

PomsRun · 13/02/2024 18:26

They’ve been complete planks - think they need us more than we need them.

You have a point, buuuut no matter how good value the boxes are, you just can’t compete with free.

They’ve really painted themselves into a corner.

I just wish I could figure out whether they’re doing this because, as a loss leader, it failed… or whether this is the beginning of the end of the entire scheme, because it REALLY failed.

VoleChomper · 13/02/2024 18:31

Their comms team really seem to be a bit inept. Not just today, sending everyone double emails but some people seem to never receive any emails at all despite contacting customer support, or promotional emails are days late.

periodiclabel · 13/02/2024 18:31

Got my third email too - it's pretty insulting! Far better to say woops, we made a mistake but we'll overlook it and let you stay until April on the old deal - worth far more to them long term. Anyway, off to cancel now! Bye perfume samples sitting in a drawer

WeAreBorg · 13/02/2024 18:34

Yeah I’ve now cancelled if the three months grace isn’t on
How miserable 😭

medicalmysterymachine · 13/02/2024 18:34

I've cancelled my subscription and the subscription will conveniently be cancelled AFTER they've taken February's payment. There is no option to remove the payment method without adding a new one.

What a clusterfuck.

Noeggsontoast · 13/02/2024 18:34

I've just cancelled and spent my credit on Suqqu and Trish McEvoy items I love. I have a bit of a stash so whilst I enjoyed saving my credit for the advent calendar or other things from across the store it was a bonus to receive the boxes. I probably would have stayed if I didn't have such a stash, as the value of the items was always in excess of what would now be £15.

Sad it's come to an end but seriously the communications team have made a bit of a mess with this.
