Cancelled, credit spent. It was a no-brainer for me - if they'd slapped on a couple of quid per month to cover delivery of the boxes I'd have carried on, but a fiver a month is too much for face masks and samples of perfume I've never liked.

I agree with PPs who have voiced suspicions that Liberty want to end this scheme and have therefore made it unpalatable!

I've not checked my emails yet but I don't like what I am reading here. Am I right that the boxes are now going to cost £15 per box from being free? If this is correct I am going to cancel right now as I'm sure many will. What a change in terms and conditions.

Effectively, yes. It’s now £25 per month, but only £20 of that is account credit. So basically you are paying £5 per month for the boxes and the “perks”.

I think I'm going to cancel too but I'm not sure wear to spend my £100 credit on! I wish they sold Chanel perfume.

Me too. I’ve just spent far more than I should have on Chanel makeup at John Lewis (and wanted more), but am also struggling to spend my credit at Liberty.

£60 pays for my Pai cleanser for the year. I’d rather have that than 4 boxes of strange samples. And don’t get me started on the eye masks!

I've discovered Pai products, they are lovely aren't they? My skin is so much calmer. I stocked up on eye cream recently and got a free small rose hip oil which I as very happy with

MsNobody · 13/02/2024 17:23

Yeah, I'm out. I'm guessing it gotten too big for them and they trying to cull it.
Shame all my basket is currently out of stock, do items ever come back to stock???

Essentially, yes. The monthly subscription is increasing to £25 per month, of which £20 will be added to your credit balance and the other £15 an admin charge. So you are giving them £20 per month to put into account credit AND then paying £5 month/£60 per year for 4 boxes.

EuniceLopril · 13/02/2024 15:52

I'm just about to cancel.
I don't get promotional emails from them. Tried to speak with their CS about it twice after whining on this thread but got nowhere. No emails means I never know about, or have a link to purchase, Edits or GWP and so of course 10% off Beauty Boxes is no benefit to me. In addition I find the website search function is useless.

I have a reasonable amount of credit, no idea what I want to spend it on!

It’s tech issues like the emails never reaching you, the email gaffes (like today’s), the online stock issues and the website being shite (it’s true the search function doesn’t always work, not to mention the poor photography) which highlights a major issue with Liberty management IMO. We’ve all worked in places that are stuck in their ways, and resentful of having to modernise and change.

You can’t get away with half arsing your online offering anymore.

WeAreBorg · 13/02/2024 17:27

Haha read the email and immediately came on here to 100+ messages

This is so sad! I love the free boxes and building up credit but there’s no way I’m paying a fiver for it.

I think a few of us are clinging on for the April box then cancelling? I actually feel like I’ve been dumped just before Valentine’s Day and it is super hurtful

safetyzone · 13/02/2024 17:30

I'm now wondering if they've had to lay off some staff to do with BD admin and needed to balance the books at the same time by increasing the costs, knowing that the smaller team wouldn't have coped with current number of members? It's obvious that it's a loss making initiative for them.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 13/02/2024 17:39

I think they are definitely trying to end it. Another one here who'll wait for April's box then leave. It will be interesting to see if it's terrible because they want it to be the last straw for those of us remaining

BeaLola · 13/02/2024 17:41

Haven't had the email yet

Can I ask for the April box do we need to pay Feb (old rate) + March (new rate ) and then get box or also need to pay April new rate too ?

Nortono · 13/02/2024 17:46

Yup. I’m binning

Neilsfavouritechilli · 13/02/2024 17:49

Another who has cancelled and spent up. The last couple of boxes were okay but underwhelming and everything I ever want to buy is out of stock. I've bought a few gifts for upcoming birthdays and I'm going to do as others suggest and set up a treat pot.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 13/02/2024 17:50

Actually, even more irritated now because I've just received both emails, despite having been signed up for over a year 🙄

Very tempted to cancel, spend my credit, and put £20 per month towards a Bloom perfume subscription instead.

Bloody hell, Liberty. I am such a loyal customer but you're pushing me...

My email says May is the new rate. So I was planning on cancelling after April.

periodiclabel · 13/02/2024 17:51

I'll be interested to see what they say to those of us who've had the two emails - as far as I'm concerned i'm on the old rate until May because they told me I've just joined, even though I was there from the start (when it was meant to be exclusive, obviously another marketing gimmick they had no intention of honouring)

Camdenish · 13/02/2024 17:51

I’m out too.

i only joined as I always use Blink for threading. I used my £20 a month for Blink every two months and got a nice box through the post every now and then.

I will probably carry on going to Blink at Liberty rather than JL Oxford Circus though. It feels such a treat to be threaded in Liberty!

I'm guessing it will depend on the day of the month your subscription is deducted.

The April box will arrive about the 17th of the month. If your monthly payment is later than this (like mine) I'll cancel as soon as the box arrives. So just paying the extra in March.

If your payment comes out before the 17th it will be two months at the new rate.

I'm willing to bet it will be dire in order to get us to give up as they've clearly decided it isn't working for them

Ap24 · 13/02/2024 17:54

I had both emails and I replied to clear up which date was correct.

@Ap24 aaargh. Affect v effect. Grrrr.

kenyaswhiterefrigerator · 13/02/2024 17:56

@Ap24 thanks for that. Really useful and good to know we have 24 months to spend the credit post cancellation

TreesinthePark · 13/02/2024 17:57

Oh this is a real shame! Not all the boxes were great but for free you can't complain (I definitely did though sometimes lol). I'm not paying £15 for unknown items, I'm not into those types of subscriptions at all.

I've just cancelled after getting my first major beauty advent in 2022 and then a couple of great kits and GWP in 2023. I feel I should spend my credit asap if they are potentially having financial issues. I'd be gutted if I lost my £100 credit plus £10 voucher.

The credit has been hard to spend though lately as the kits have underwhelmed. Also, my beloved La Bruket lip balm is never in stock and neither is the Moon Carnival perfume. I'm going to use up my credit but keep an eye on the GWPs and kits as I would love another good one and would consider buying with "real" money.

TheSandHurtsMyFeelings · 13/02/2024 17:58

Thing is, if it isn't working for them, why not just say, 'sorry all, April will be the last box, scheme ends after that, you've got 12 months to spend any outstanding credit and here's a last hurrah of a great GWP'

Rather than this half-arsed faffing disguised as 'extra benefits' which is just pissing people off?

Could have respected that. They have just annoyed me now.
