Can I ask a daft question? Think I've got this right but want to check ...

My next payment is literally in the next few days so was going to let that go through at the old price this added to my balance.

Balance is well above minimum for delivery anyway assuming I use it in one go.

Therefore as I've 2 years to spend my credit and get the free delivery I'm ok to hold out for a GWP? I'd planned to do this anyway so would be gutted not to get that last bonus!

I wonder if rather than kill it completely, they are trying to refine their BD demographic - shed the plebs who spend ages deciding what to buy (like me!) and keep those that are more free with their spending. It definitely looks from this thread that the extra £5 will make it more exclusive, and a better fit with their brand. I don't think Liberty intend to be a retailer that caters to the masses but that's probably what they've ended up doing with the BD. For me, living too far away to pop in store, the BD has meant getting a little bit of Liberty magic delivered.

I too am definitely a pleb GrinGrin

i've cancelled it, set up a Monzo saving pot called Advent Calander and a monthly transfer of £25 and will choose a nice AC later in the year.

I think i will miss the box a bit but whether a £60 a year bit remains to be seen

Hawkerslife · 13/02/2024 16:15

I have just put my last £20 credit towards a diptyque candle for the downstairs bathroom and cancelled. I was in two minds because I struggled to spend my credit in the sales this year and this has made my mind up for me.

I bet there has been a massive flurry of cancellations this afternoon. Perhaps that's what they want.

OooScotland · 13/02/2024 16:16

I’ve had the two emails too, one saying the fee kicks in in March and the other one saying May as I’m less than three months in (not true).

No benefits we weren’t getting before and £60 per year for only 4 boxes of mostly ‘meh’ and weird samples. If the boxes were monthly I’d consider staying but…..I’m cancelling. I’ll be getting a way-out -of-my-price-range perfume with my current credit (the extra made up as a birthday present from DH) and that’s it.

I think some other posters got it right - Liberty want to end or at least massively scale back the scheme. Tbf offering a ‘free’ box of luxury beauty stuff even quarterly must have been the creation of a monster for them. I don’t blame them but I’d rather have the £60 a year to spend on something I want than a load of random samples. I’ve done the beauty box thing quite a few times now and I’m over paying for them.

Bimblesalong · 13/02/2024 16:16

That's a nice idea @listsandbudgets and will give you a bit of choice as to where to put the money.

This is not going well for Liberty if such loyal customers who enjoy the scheme are all bailing this fast - they'll lose more than the money from the scheme.

paradyning · 13/02/2024 16:19

Just got the emails!! I'm going to cancel too! That's insane

PomsRun · 13/02/2024 16:22

I’m going to cancel too - I was finding it hard to spend my credit anyway, so this has pushed me into a decision.

UntamedShrew · 13/02/2024 16:26

I would have spent £5 per box but not £15 per box, too @Lightenuppeople

I will still shop there but now only for stuff that’s hard to get elsewhere like biologique recherche and when I’m passing.

Beepboops · 13/02/2024 16:28

Oh gosh this is such a shame as I was looking forward to these boxes on my maternity leave as a pick me up and only subscribed last month. Now I'm technically paying for them.

I'm going to be cancelling after the next box.

ninja · 13/02/2024 16:31

@LilacpointMummy I joined in January for the same reason - there's no way I'd spend that much money in an advent calendar otherwise and so I'm left with money there that I have no idea how to spend.

GinandGingerBeer · 13/02/2024 16:31

Strange! I've had the email twice too. Mine says they will honour it until May as I'm in the first 3 months of subscribing. I'm definitely not! I've got £240 in credit that like many I've just not spent as nothing is ever in stock.
I will definitely be cancelling but will keep it for the next box.
£5 per month admin fee is insane!!
Especially as they're not giving us anything for it.

periodiclabel · 13/02/2024 16:42

I just had two emails too @ginandgingerbeer. Like the rest of you I'll stay on until the next box but then cancel. I was already dithering about cancelling but decided I every now and then get a GWP so worth staying on but of course I'm not going to pay £60 a year for some random samples!

Bimblesalong · 13/02/2024 16:42

It's ironic that they can't even get the kiss off right by mucking up the emails, again.

Ametora · 13/02/2024 16:44

When it started it was limited numbers and there was a waiting list but they then made it instant sign up and universal

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 13/02/2024 16:45

I’ve just compared the prices of my most purchased profits and Liberty isn’t actually that much more expensive than elsewhere which may mean that I stick.

Thehamsterthatcametotea · 13/02/2024 16:45

@Ametora yes!

slipperyeel · 13/02/2024 16:46

I’ve cancelled and spent the credit I had. There wasn’t even much I wanted but will try a couple of Lisa Eldridge things and move on.

Summerdew · 13/02/2024 16:48

I’ve emailed them to ask about the date and to feedback that it’s a massive increase for no additional perks. Interested to see what they respond with.

BangingOn · 13/02/2024 17:00

The more I think about this the more annoyed I am. It isn’t a 25% increase, it’s a completely new charge. The £20 a month payment was all turned into credit, so the boxes were effectively free. From free to £15 per box is crazy.

I agree with others who have said that they must want to scale back BD. It’s a shame, as I spend a lot on beauty products but it won’t be with Liberty any more.

OooScotland · 13/02/2024 17:03

£60 pays for my Pai cleanser for the year. I’d rather have that than 4 boxes of strange samples. And don’t get me started on the eye masks!

OooScotland · 13/02/2024 17:04

ooops

cancandt123 · 13/02/2024 17:06

Yea I feel quite sad about it. Feel forced to cancel, but it was such a lovely treat.

I will make the effort to put the £20 to one side but I know it will just get sucked up into other stuff.

SarahC50 · 13/02/2024 17:07

I've not checked my emails yet but I don't like what I am reading here. Am I right that the boxes are now going to cost £15 per box from being free? If this is correct I am going to cancel right now as I'm sure many will. What a change in terms and conditions.

Isabelle70 · 13/02/2024 17:07

I am going to cancel as for me there are no longer any benefits, being in Guernsey they wouldn't post the BD or advent calendar to me so I had to use a mail forwarder which all costs. I will keep the credit I have and maybe buy something when I visit London in the summer or put it towards the next calendar.
If I really want to try anything I can always pick up bits and pieces from eBay.
