General “waifs and strays” beauty advent calendar opening thread

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

As previously, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - food, jam, socks anyone?

Please do not include spoilers before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

I’ll be opening the Vogue and Selfridges calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1.

Actually seeing @MalibuBetty saying it’s apricot and banana I had another look and it is indeed apricot and banana. Didn’t have my glasses on earlier! Not too sure about it now……. Sounds a bit sickly.

Thanks for this - I just happen to have some Elemis Kefir Mist in the stash that needs using up.

@Peridot1 I was actually thinking to tag you in that post in case apricot and banana wouldnt be nice on a Christmas cake.

Apricot and banana jam for DH and I got an Elemis moisture lotion from my LooksFantastic....not sure what to do with a “lotion”. I’m 54 and definitely need a moisturiser rather than lotion, but pleased it’s Elemis - one of my favourite brands.

@BaconAndAvocado I pat a few drops of the Elemis into my skin after cleansing, leave a little while then put my moisturiser on. I like it for this time of year when my skin feels a bit more parched.

I mistakenly wrote lotion instead of essence.

I have a L'Occitane AC. Very underwhelmed by day 1. A teeny tiny bath cube. Hopefully things will get better, I thought they might start on a high though.

Look Fantastic is an Elemis serum moisturiser.

I also have Pukka tea and today is lemongrass and ginger. It was ok. Went a little licorishy towards the end.

and a mini chocolate mince pie from Selfridges (nice though really really tiny and I worry if the others will dry out before the 25th...)

I have the Boots No 7 Ultimate calendar. Today is a No 7 brow gel. I’ll give it a go as I’ve never used one. Also Lancôme, the first day of which is a handbag size perfume, La Vie Est Belle which is my favourite so I’ll certainly use that.

Eve Lom cleanser in the Elle calendar today. I'm pleased with this as I am out of my usual (Beauty Pie Plantastic) and I think/hope this will be as good, if not better.

Loving the thread so far. I wasn't going to buy a calendar this year but got serious FOMO and caved last week. I'm so glad I did!

I've got latest in beauty however mine is going to be slightly different as I've sold the things I didn't like and replaced them (Vinted)
Day one full size Tatcha water cream. I'm a huge fan of Tatcha so amazing first day

I have Clarins, HN and Harrods. Loved all today.

I know AB The Rich Cream can feel tiresome but I have to say, the ONLY time I notice the grooves on my forehead is when I don't use it.

Very pleased with the Figeuer candle in the Diptyque calendar today. I actually currently have the bigger size on the go but this is one of my favourite's so I'm happy to have a spare!

I got my husband the Bonne Maman calendar too!

Is there no thread for Cult Beauty this year? I don’t have it, but I bought it last year and was interested to know what was in it.

Don't have a calendar so joining as a 'waif' to enjoy vicariously 😃

I have the Boots MacMillan beauty calendar - anyone else?! Very pleased with today's moisturiser!

Ah thanks @OchonAgusOchonOh it was Shay and Blue Camellia fragrance - just sprayed it lavishly tonight when putting on PJs and now cannot smell it at all! Ah well.

I have a Homemade by My Sister one.

Basically I've had a very bad year so far with my Mum getting cancer in May & passing away in September.
So my sister unexpectedly turned up at mine on Thursday night with a surprise Advent calendar that she had made herself!!!
I was so shocked & happy.

So day 1 was yesterday.

Here is a photo of my Homemade Advent Calendar with the first present; a lovely pair of stud earrings.
