General “waifs and strays” beauty advent calendar opening thread

As in previous years, this a thread for those opening Beauty Advent Calendars not covered by specific calendar opening threads (though also happy for contents of those to be shared here too).

As previously, it will also be fun to hear about other calendar openings - food, jam, socks anyone?

Please do not include spoilers before 7am on the relevant day. Please also avoid dropping hints or spoilers about future contents if you have opened the calendar in advance.

I’ll be opening the Vogue and Selfridges calendars this year. Really looking forward to Day 1.

I think a good idea for Next year for people who want the surprise element but to still know they are going for the right calendar, they could comment saying I want a calendar heavy in skincare particularly serums etc and DODs for me is make up then others like me who doesn’t need the surprise element could recommend you go for X calendar and avoid Y calendar if you know what I mean. X

Today's Harrods is Roja Elysium Eau Intense. 20 ml (£60)

This will be lovely in the summer. Very fruity with lashings of tuberose and juniper.

Day 25 Diptyque was a small Sapin candle. I wasn't keen on the smell at first sniff, it's quite sweet and fake smelling. Just giving it a try to see if it's better when burning.

Day 25 for me was an exfoliating cleanser

I'm not a huge fan of physical exfoliating products but I have used this before and it's very gentle

A bit late but Day 25 of Harrods was a travel size Floraiku fragrance called ‘Between two trees’. It wouldn’t be my first choice of fragrance but isn’t awful so will get used. It’s apparently meant to be layered with another fragrance from the range though so on its own is a bit of a lame final day to the calendar.

Overall I was happy with this calendar but not blown away. I have a couple of others still to open so will be interesting to see if they are any better.

I’ve really enjoyed sharing all the calendars with you all and thanks to @AprilLady for starting the thread.

Today is Montale Arabians Tonja
Very heavy and full of oud. Perhaps not the right thing to wear to work today

Lovely bottle though.

Enjoying hearing about your Harrods calendar @Babysharkdoodoodood Montale fragrances have a reputation for being strong, I imagine the oud one is not subtle.

Tried the Rabanne colourshot eyeshadow from the Selfridges calendar today - really pleased with it, both the colour and how well it went on and has stayed on.

Harrods today is Tiziana Terence;Kuma
Very fresh and fruity. Love this.
Size is 50ml. Retails for £410/100ml !!!!!
Will use sparingly

I'm really enjoying the Harrods fragrance calendar. I had no idea that todays perfume was that expensive! 😮

I've had three 5ml Ghost fragrances so far in my ghost 12 days of Xmas calendar, as well as a nail varnish and hand cream - it was an excellent buy for a tenner! 😆

Today's Harrods fragrance is a 30ml bottle of Ormonde Jayne Montabaco Verano. It's really lovely and must be quite strong as I can still smell it despite this being my third day in bed with covid 😆. I got a little grey leather credit card holder in my Ghost calendar.

Harrods today is Parfums de Marly Delina 30 ml. Retail is £140 for 30 ml. The prices so far exceed the outlay for the calendar.
I bought the advent for this fragrance and haven't opened it yet, in case it doesn't meet my expectations. I'll do it later when my nose is clearer. But of a cold atm.

I've just opened mine and it's gorgeous. I much prefer the perfumes in this year's calendar to last year's so far. I also got a small Ghost Deep Night in my Ghost calendar today.

Todays Harrods is Bulgari Spettacolore and Baciami Eau de Parfum (2 x 10ml)

Haven't opened. No cost as this is a special for the calendar, but they are in the sale for £95 each.

And forgot photo again. In a nice little bag as well

I am on day 8 of my 12 day Clarins calendar. Apart from one lip oil, it’s all been sample sizes so far so totally not worth the money, (even though I got 20% off).

Thank you @Peridot1 it came very early so even more of a surprise.

I now understand the concerned look on H’s face as I was prattling on about having too much stuff and definitely not needing another calendar in an attempt to convince myself not to buy another.
