Lovers of Parisian style and fashion with a conscious mindset and lots of chatter in between.

red, I have a cool, olive green merino jumper, which I do like. I think I have to make sure it's not too warm a shade of olive. I do like olive green, though and pairing with other greens too.

Now you have my full attention Bo!

This is definitely the colour that lifts my spirits and really suits me.

yes quirky, a tad too warm olive and that is not good on me either.

quirkychick · 07/12/2023 13:24

I love blue, too! Thank you, bo. Those blue jumpers are gorgeous.

mm47 · 07/12/2023 14:40

Those 👁️ earrings are fabulous and would definitely capture my attention if someone was wearing them. And I really like that rooftop pool picture as well as that amazing cream installation the woman in black is standing in. 👏👏👏

Floisme · 07/12/2023 15:06

Thanks bo. Your can't go far wrong with green for me, I like most shades, but when it comes to blue, I'm much more fussy. I think I've talked about that before so I won't repeat it. They eye jewellery looks spectacular though, if not entirely comfortable. But what I really need to know is, are we really leaving several inches of hemline on show under our coats (Day 6)?

botemp · 07/12/2023 19:04

Yes, I really like the eye jewellery, I haven't seen it modellrd on the ears but it will definitely be a bit <pun intended> eye catching. Very surreal and in line with Schiaparelli's brand DNA though (which reminds me, with some free time coming up over the holidays, I will remind those who still haven't watched Transatlantic on Netflix to watch it for the costumes, including some Schiaparelli and the surreal eyes feature too).

But it does also remind me a bit of Michalene Thomas' work that features a lot of collage, especially with eyes, (wanted to work it in somewhere but haven't managed it yet, but maybe I will on another day, so potential spoiler?). She's actually the woman in sparkly green trousers on I want to say day 4 as she's also an inspirational dresser.

Oops, I forgot MN doesn't like archive links, I'll see if they reinstate my post before attempting to rewrite it.

That was quickly reinstated, I forgot to mention I picked up my Cordera not a cardigan and I'm in love with it. It's even nicer than anticipated, perfect balance of slinky and interesting that sort of styles itself.

I had sort of assumed it was the material as a knit sort of bralette top I have of hers as it's the same colour, that's linen and I want to say silk but this is a nice toasty wool. I hadn't bothered asking about the material as it was so well priced and the brand uses only natural fabrics I rushed it through check out so it's even more of a bargain than I thought and I don't need to wait until spring to be able to wear it.

quirkychick · 07/12/2023 21:01

The eye jewellery is very cool, I agree. I realised that I thought the middle, top pic was a jumper, but on second thoughts, I think it's a dress.

Your not-cardigan sounds lovely, bo.

PuppyMcPupFace · 07/12/2023 22:01

Salut les parisiennes

Diving back in after a long absence. I was here right from the beginning with the Parfois fur stole (still wear it) and red lipstick discussions.

Going to Paris this weekend. Mainly slogging around in the forecast torrential rain but if anyone has any current exhibition recommendations, I could stay dry for a couple of hours....

botemp · 08/12/2023 08:05

Crkd, I like that they've gone to Manchester, unexpected move but I like it. That live blog is quite the read though, as I rather love how unglitzy it all is, bumping into celebs in the train station and the frenzy over Kate Moss at Aldi.

Puppy, I'm going in January and have earmarked the Rothko exhibition at the Fondation Louis Vuitton (also really interesting building) that's had nothing but glowing reviews, Iris van Herpen at Musée des Arts Décoratifs, Azzedine Alaïa at Palais Galliera. I think they've all started already. I also usually recommend the permanent La Galerie Dior (definitely have lunch/a glass of champagne in their café after) if you haven't been there already. The YSL museum is always worth checking but its offerings are very mixed. I'd recommend reserving tickets for anything you absolutely want to see as things do regularly sell out. Have fun and eat lots of pastries 🇫🇷

Puppy, forgot to mention that if you like contemporary art, the Pinault Collection is well worth the visit. It's the old stock exchange building with a huge cupola and I suspect it would kind of be delightful being inside there during torrential rains.

OP posts:
Floisme · 08/12/2023 08:24

OMG I'd read about Chanel in Manchester and then forgotten all about it! I'd have loved to have been there, hanging around in the rain without a ticket.
Crkd I don't know how long you're there for but there's an exhibition at the art gallery - 'Unpicking Couture' - that I've been meaning to visit at some point. It's free so probably small but they did one about a year ago - 'Dandy Style' - that I enjoyed more than that masculinities one at the V&A.

I've not been in Paris for years Puppy so can't really recommend much but have a great time.

And now I'm off to look at bo's post.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 08/12/2023 08:37

the frenzy over Kate Moss at Aldi.

I'd seen that as a 'headline' on Twitter and assumed it was a joke. Glorious that it's true!

When I was in Paris recently I went on a Masterpieces of the Pompidou Collection tour:

www.centrepompidou.fr/en/program/calendar/event/xl0P7EA

It was really good - the tour leader was inspiring and added so much to my enjoyment and understanding, especially of the more recent pieces (from a fairly low base, admittedly).

I stayed in a tiny flat near the Pompidou, on Rue Rambuteau, which was the perfect Parisian street for a foodie, so if you are, it's worth a trip to gaze at the fabulous selection of food shops. It's not under cover, of course, but you can duck in and out of the shops. À la Mère de Famille sells gorgeous chocolate.

Papyrophile · 08/12/2023 09:32

It's the interiors shots that get me every day. The others too, but ravishing architecture and swimming pools!

Clothing-wise, it's been all about weather proof here for two months. I am so fed up with rain and we have not even got to the winter solstice!

PuppyMcPupFace · 08/12/2023 20:22

@MmePoppySeedDefage I walked past La Mère de Famille five minutes ago!

PuppyMcPupFace · 08/12/2023 20:25

@botemp also just walked down Avenue Montaigne. Rothko doesn't start till January but I'll certainly look at Dior.

PuppyMcPupFace · 08/12/2023 20:26

Damn, Galerie Dior sold out.

botemp · 08/12/2023 20:29

@PuppyMcPupFace , no, it started in October, link here but looks like very few tickets available.

OP posts:
botemp · 08/12/2023 20:29

You can chance Galerie Dior without a ticket but you might be waiting a while (outside) which is not great if it's raining.

OP posts:
PuppyMcPupFace · 08/12/2023 20:39

How strange, Bo, God knows what I was reading Blush

botemp · 08/12/2023 21:01

@PuppyMcPupFace, I've just spotted the Fondation Alaïa has a Madame Grès exhibition that looks good, it's a small space but usually well curated and never busy (if you're not paying attention you'll easily walk past it). Also, great bookshop. It's not far from Lafayette Anticipations (the department store's art gallery) that usually has something interesting going on too, also easy to just walk in.
