Argh, didn't proofread the title, this is what I get for posting when I should just be going to bed.

And, I don't know what went wrong with that link, format looks correct Confused

Re. V&A - I have the guest membership.

Voltefarce · 02/07/2023 23:43

Ps thanks for new thread

mm47 · 03/07/2023 07:14

Thanks for the new thread bo and Volteface for offering up the plus one to the group meet up. Red micro do you have plus ones on your card?

botemp · 03/07/2023 08:33

I just checked hotels/train for the proposed date and they're double normal rates so I assume there's some event. I like you all but I don't like you enough to sleep in an overpriced windowless room, so that's me out, unfortunately, and one less guest ticket to worry about.

OP posts:
Redandblue11 · 03/07/2023 09:00

@botemp would it help if moved to 20 Oct?

Redandblue11 · 03/07/2023 09:01

@mm47 I don’t have a membership… yet

mm47 · 03/07/2023 09:39

Maybe we could reschedule so hotels aren’t even more insanely overpriced than normal?

Voltefarce · 03/07/2023 10:28

13th is unlikely to work for me work-wise…have checked diaries and we have a couple already on leave. I could do the evening.

botemp · 03/07/2023 10:36

I'll have a browse later. Elle did you want to add on a shopping day? If so, preference on the day before or after meetup?

OP posts:
ToEllewithIt · 03/07/2023 11:44

I might try to add on a day. I'm on holidays at the moment so you'd think I'd have time to check flights more thoroughly, but ironically no! I will only stay one night. I can be flexible on the day before or after as I've nothing on in October. I also might stay with a relative / friend in London so am less at the mercy of hotels and happy to fit in with the majority.
I have a plus one for the V&A.

EffortlessDesmond · 03/07/2023 13:45

Still reading along, even if I'm not contributing much at present. Don't need any clothes right now, and haven't seen anything I have to have.

MmePoppySeedDefage · 03/07/2023 14:04

I have plus one membership for V&A too.

microbius · 03/07/2023 17:00

I don't have a membership and am flexible with dates

mm47 · 03/07/2023 22:37

We’ll work it out - so far as I can tell micro bo and I need to be someone’s plus one and if we don’t have enough I’ll either join or borrow a friend’s card.

botemp · 04/07/2023 09:20

Does anyone know if Eurostar uses dynamic pricing? It's shooting all over the place where the Dutch national rail version for international tickets prices are steady and cheaper Confused

Anyhow, looks like the latter two Fridays work for me, or November. Would be there thu-fri then, Elle.

OP posts:
botemp · 04/07/2023 09:21

(And anyone else who wants to join for random day shopping in London)

OP posts:
Redandblue11 · 04/07/2023 21:44

I can do either Friday 20 oct or Friday 3 Nov. Pls choose one @botemp
both have very few availability at around 4/5 pm ish.
we will need an extra ticket I am happy just to buy one for me.

Redandblue11 · 04/07/2023 21:46

If we go at about 5 pm, I can be there from the morning and do shopping too.
might be able to join Thursday but not sure

Redandblue11 · 04/07/2023 21:50

Actually, I thought the membership was more expensive. Might buy one in which case I will have a plus one too.
so we will have
elle, volte , poppy , me with plus one
and the plus ones Bo, mm, micro
so all good
(flo is a maybe)
do I have all?

botemp · 05/07/2023 06:54

20th of October, but I can't do a 5pm start time on Friday as I'd need to get to a train or plane fairly soon after that. Easier to turn that round, V&A in the morning/early afternoon, nose around shops after if there's time.

OP posts:
Redandblue11 · 07/07/2023 11:22

good morning. I am very jealous of anyone on hols as is nice and warm again and I am here .
desmond, good to hear you are still reading along . To be honest I am disinterested in clothes too. I am thinking I will try not to buy till our meet up, maybe that will spark my interest again.
(don’t get me wrong, I am still very interested in looking well and choosing what to wear, I am not interested enough in the stuff I see… nothing says to me “buy me”)

EffortlessDesmond · 07/07/2023 13:39

Thanks Red, I sometimes wonder if we should do "my clothes today"?

So in the spirit of thinking about clothes daily and aiming for a considered look, no picture, today's ensemble is

Loose linen trousers in a dark fawn, secondhand, by Toast.
A long-line vest, same colour, from Tesco, under
A short, loose, not quite Breton shirt in very narrow stripes of mushroom and white, made by a Belgian company, Mes Soeurs et Moi, (my newest garment).

Pewter fisherman's sandals on an espadrille sole, bought this summer in Lugo, in northern Galicia. It's very comfortable for a warm windy day.

mm47 · 07/07/2023 16:05

Margaret Howell sale begins online and in the shop tomorrow- but I imagine those who are interested already got the email! Very late notice.

In the spirit of Desmond I am wearing a t shirt and a pair of balloony yoga pants plus birkies - more for comfort than glory as I strip them on and off while trying to work out what to take in the world’s smallest carry-on for a week’s holiday with two girlfriends! They each only travel with cabin luggage and manage gym wear and different day and evening wear for 7 days. I normally travel with 20kg but I wanted to enter the spirit of things - I really wish I hadn’t bothered, I love the idea of having to be really creative and so on but it is fiendishly difficult!!!! Attached photo is the bombsite of the bedroom I’m using for ironing and packing Nb my case is 55x20… the iron is to give an idea of proportion
