New thread, thanks for the brilliant title suggestion, as ever!

It's a bit... Star Trek. If you know what I mean!

Maireas · 30/11/2023 19:32

I love it's sharpness. It's like an anti-Erdem dress.

this is all I can find of Victoria & Daniel at the Royal Variety at the moment.

For a minute there I thought Victoria had a bare midriff!

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 30/11/2023 19:35

I love the dress, including the sleeves, and I think the way the fabric drapes on her stomach is lovely and even subtly sensul/sexy, but the shoulders just aren't good. It's not a great design with the pads given the fabric either - looks very clumsy from the side IMO.

But overall it's still a great dress and she looks fantastic.

I totally get that. 🤣

I love the texture of Victoria’s dress, paired with modern gold jewellery.

MrsLeonFarrell · 30/11/2023 19:41

I like the colour, I'm on the fence about the shoulders but it's a dramatic look that I think she can pull off.

Sidebeforeself · 30/11/2023 19:51

@Serenster That photo you posted is fab..another one of her iconic shots that is entirely accidental

whiteshutters · 30/11/2023 19:58

I love this outfit on her - I'm wondering if the shoulders are to balance off her very slim figure ? The only thing I would like to see is shoes with a bit more of a sole to them but then I couldn't walk in the heels she wears so maybe it is what she is used to. Victoria looks very matronly in that kind of outfit. Less really is more.

What is lovely picture of her and William!

Yes she can pull it off, but we've seen what, at least three lots? in quick succession. It ends up looking dated and prescriptive. Which is the opposite of what one wants when wearing an extreme design. It's supposed to be new, fresh and exciting.

myrtleWilson · 30/11/2023 20:12

I think the sharper lines of the dress work better for her than the original which may have looked a bit more like an elongated version of her day silhouette?

JSMill · 30/11/2023 20:18

The colour is great on her.

ArcaneWireless · 30/11/2023 20:32

On a day when jammies, slipper socks and an all enveloping sofa would probably have been the preferred option?

And a ‘hair’ moment too?

She looks just grand.

Over in Spain, Leti and Felipe attend the opening of a hospital.

Meanwhile, the Queen and the Gloucesters are out tonight at a function at the Guildhall, Check out Brigitte’s stunning pearls and emeralds! I’d take her jewel vault over several of the main royal’s collections any day…

I love it! The sharpness of the shoulder pads elevate it from simple to statement. I like the big bouncy hair, it balances the shoulders out. The fringe draws attention to eyes and cheekbones. And the colour is lovely too. I like the bracelet, would have liked it more if it was real (don’t think it is anyway. I might have gone for a satin shoe with a sparkle trim rather than the velvet, but they’re ok.

gluenotsoup · 30/11/2023 21:04

Ad how gorgeous are those pearls and emeralds?!

Gooseysgirl · 30/11/2023 21:19

The shoulder pads totally ruin it for me, they are dreadful. I would have loved it otherwise 🤷🏻‍♀️

Eaumyword · 30/11/2023 22:31

Oh wow, Kate looks other-worldly fabulous there! Super swishy hair too and lovely makeup. Good for her 👍
I also love love love those emeralds and pearls.
Not keen on Leti's large jacket/skinny trouser/heels silhouette.

XpelairHamPortal · 30/11/2023 22:55

whiteshutters · 30/11/2023 15:57

May I add hands clasped as opposed to hanging at their sides as was commented on previously on W and K.

Well that's my theory blown comprehensively out of the water! Grin

whiteshutters · 30/11/2023 23:03

@Eaumyword I totally agree about Leti's trousers and heels 🤐

Makemydaypunk · 01/12/2023 01:24

Leti’s outfit is a big miss for me, it’s the shoes that ruin it, she should either have opted for a proper high heel or a chunky flat loafer, I hate that in between apologetic heel look, for me it has to be one or or the other.

I totally agree with you on the dress. IF she hadn't already worn those extreme pads so many times.

I can't understand why she does it.

But, being fair to her, taken on its own merits I do think it's a fantastic look and I agree, her hair balances it out well.

As always I think she looks fabulous and also comes across very strong and dignified.

SenecaFallsRedux · 01/12/2023 05:26

I watch video of Catherine and William arriving. Often her clothes look really good in movement. I'm afraid that this one is a fail for me. When she turns sideways all you could see was this giant form creating the pointy shoulder. Not a good look. I do think the color is really good on her though, and as usual, the fit is perfect.

Also, I have to admit that I am getting a bit tired of the split sleeves with the dangly bits that so many royals and celebrities are wearing these days.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 01/12/2023 05:37

@Makemydaypunk Apologetic heels! That's such a good term.
