Thank you for the new thread!

The Euro royals always seem to be having little get togethers and state visits to each other. Ours need to get in on the act! We need more tiara-and-gown state dinners for Kate!

KillingMeDeftly · 07/11/2023 17:19

Are there any state visits planned? I'm sure the Japanese emperor has never visited - Charles needs to get in touch!

Maireas · 07/11/2023 17:23

We are shockingly short on tiara events. The Euro royals go for that a lot more!

Thanks for the thread @Maireas - I feel very flattered that you used my title!

And yes, desperately short of formal events here. Even if it's not tiaras I want some sparkly dresses and jewels!

Pandaandpurple · 07/11/2023 17:35

Checking in!

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2023 17:39

Even though I think she looks great in them, I don't think PoW is particularly enthusiastic about tiaras. IIRC she's only ever worn 3 - Cartier Halo, Lotus Flower and Lover's Knot.

Camilla OTOH obviously adores the bling. Though she looks terrified both at the Coronation and the State Opening of Parliament (or Playmobil as my phone suggests...) that her headgear is going to fall off. I guess with a tiara it can be much more securely attached than a circlet.

Maireas · 07/11/2023 17:56

I think you're right. Kate tends to avoid the bling and usually favours a low key look.

SenecaFallsRedux · 07/11/2023 17:59

I am guessing that Camilla's head circumference is larger than the late queen's and maybe they didn't resize the Diadem. And that's a lot to manage: dress with a train, state robes (heavy) and headgear not worn before. She looked great, though. I really like her coronation dress.

SqueakyDinosaur · 07/11/2023 18:02

I love that it has her dogs embroidered on it!

MrsLeonFarrell · 07/11/2023 18:04

I like that bling, it's not as if it's new and if you have it why not wear it

I can see why Catherine and William might limit the number of occasions it comes out though. Formal wear isn't as generally worn these days and this sort of extreme bling is worn even less. I think it does show fine line the royals walk which other very rich people don't have to worry about.

KillingMeDeftly · 07/11/2023 18:20

I don't think we'll ever go back to the blingy days when QEII and PM seemed to be dusting off and donning the tiaras and gowns every week!

ChicoryDip · 07/11/2023 18:32

This is a nice dress on Sophie. The print and the style really suit her and I like her boots.

It's MeandEm. I think she's worn a few nice dresses from there.

William looking very dapper in his green velvet jacket.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 07/11/2023 18:37

Sigh. So many beautiful items of bling languishing unloved and unappreciated in dark and dusty corners of the vault...

I really liked Cam's outfit today. Was lovely to see the Coronation Gown again and I thought the Diamond Diadem suited her well - she looked very regal indeed.

I actually didn't like how she wore the GoGBaI recently - low and wide...I thought it was too similar to the way she's always worn her pieces, which does suit her tbf. But I do want to see something new every so often, and I like the way today's diadem is worn more like a crown.

She looked fab as always, although I did think she went a bit heavy on the brows!

themessygarden · 07/11/2023 18:38

Nice green colour

Yes thank you! 💐

Oh I like that green velvet!

viewsoftheshard · 07/11/2023 18:57

I love seeing the Euro royals all dressed up. There is the Korean State Visit in November, not sure of the bling potential though!

LaBrujaPiruja · 07/11/2023 19:23

Gossip
Spanish and Danish press reporting Frederik met Genoveva Casanova in Madrid and spent the night at her place. Pictures to be released tomorrow by Lecturas magazine. Genoveva is the Mexican ex-wife of the Count of Salvatierra, Grandee of Spain, the youngest son of the late Duchess of Alba.
Mary does not look very happy tonight.

Maireas · 07/11/2023 19:30

Oh dear. I had heard rumours.

OP posts:
nettie434 · 07/11/2023 19:31

Do we think William and Hannah Waddingham coordinated on the dark green? It was a green carpet too.

I thought Camilla looked good today. The gown looks a bit heavy and uncomfortable. Not that I am suggesting she ignored protocol and wore her PJs. It would be funny to see the fallout though!

smilesy · 07/11/2023 19:37

themessygarden · 07/11/2023 18:38

Nice green colour

Is that the same one he wore last year with the polo neck? This one . Attendees were asked to re-ware something they already have
