New thread, thanks for the brilliant title suggestion, as ever!

Serving up some Von Trapp realness there!

Maireas · 23/11/2023 05:55

Sam Cam's dress is from Cefinn, £390.
If I was a multimillionaire going to a state banquet I'd push the boat out, dress wise and also come bedecked, but that's me.

An article about how one should wear one's tiara. It suggests they are not very comfy!

It looks great to me. Royalty tiaras are very heavy and not easy to keep steady on the head. I remember reading an article years ago talking about how the tiaras affect the person's movements just by making sure it doesn't get dislodged. Letizia mentioned years ago that they give her a headache and I'm sure she's not the only royal getting one.

We'd love to wear one of those sparkly things at least once, but I'm sure they'll lose their appeal if we ended up with a headache. Mmmmm.....maybe! 😋

I'd just take the neurofen and plough on 😉

Princess Anne's hair style is so severe for evening and with the white dress draining her face she looked really unwell. Harsh lighting and lack of makeup didn't help either.

I expect she doesn't care too much.

KillingMeDeftly · 23/11/2023 07:03

Sophie's off to Colombia next week so that means the Waleses will be at the variety performance. Another gown occasion! But maybe a rewear? The RVP is less formal than a stage banquet so it would be nice to see one of the dresses from the Caribbean tour again.

ChicoryDip · 23/11/2023 07:28

Hopefully not that yellow and white monstrosity @KillingMeDeftly? 😊

She wore a beautiful green gown in the Caribbean that I loved and I don't think we've seen again.

Wow.

WOW indeed. This is the first time I've seen Kate looking not only superb but sexy and elegant at the same time.

Here's Max all caped up and with a massive hat to boot! But on her it just looks right in a way that it didn't on Kate the other day.

So nice to see new tiaras! Actually it's nice to see any tiaras at all on the British royals - I still feel a bit short changed by the coronation. They all look lovely.

And here is Leti looking amazing, although I am wondering what happened to Felipe and the other gentleman before the photo(!)

I love Letizia's dress and adore the shoes. I want them!

Felipe had an accident playing padel and has been wearing the wrist brace for a while now.

I think the problem I have with a lot of Catherine's outfits is her commitment to shoulder pads that are too pointy, I don't think they are flattering for her at all.

whiteshutters · 23/11/2023 08:12

The more I look at the red cape the more I love it as more images have come out from that day. It was such a grey day too.

Nope. Still don't like it.

Max's choice of colour is more subtle.

2 words I never thought I'd use in the same sentence- Max and subtle (style wise)😀

I think the red hat makes the outfit a bit ott

whiteshutters · 23/11/2023 08:48

Queen Max is 52 so a whole decade apart and actually looks a load older in that photo. I had to goggle her age . I know I would wear the red 😍

Jellycats4life · 23/11/2023 08:56

I don’t hate the red cape. I actually love capes in general. I think it swamps her thin frame though, and kind of looks like it’s wearing her.

Alondra · 23/11/2023 09:09

Kate dresses way too conservatively, except when she wears informal pants. Then she looks her age and the century she is living in.

Maxima is the opposite. Aside from the age difference, Max is always over the top and the centre of attention. In between both, there's a happy medium to dress classy, modern and elegant without being dowdy or over the top.

All in all, I prefer Kate grandma's dress coats (how many does she have?) than Maxima's all over the place style.

gluenotsoup · 23/11/2023 09:41

I loved it! And I might have loved it a bit more if the cape had a more open front, rather than edge to edge, which would have made it less voluminous. But I did love it, especially in motion.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 23/11/2023 09:45

I liked the cape outfit! I just thought certain elements were a little bit off, and all together it was too OTT.

I adore a cape. The only one I haven’t liked was the Duchess of Gloucester’s Star Wars affair.

Kakibob1924 · 23/11/2023 10:34

I think the all over red with the red hat was too much of the one colour.

ChicoryDip · 23/11/2023 10:36

CPV and Daniel joining Kate and William for the Royal Variety performance on the 30th.

Feels like a good enough excuse for a new frock Kate.

chesterelly1 · 23/11/2023 10:44

I think max has a flamboyance and confidence that means however outlandish her outfit is she wears it not the other way round. Kate is more conservative and while we are slowly seeing her start to try new things it's baby steps so new cape but keep everything monotone so she's not then got to worry about clashing colours but then that much red overwhelms. But on the whole I like it and I'd like to see more of her trying new styles

justasking111 · 23/11/2023 11:00

Anyone spot Sophie wearing bright nail polish at the dinner 😂

Wordsworse · 23/11/2023 12:18

Has anyone posted this yet?

My goodness that flat lay perspective doesn’t do Kate’s figure any favours at all! The legs!! Grin
