New thread, thanks for the brilliant title suggestion, as ever!

I can't imagine what Samantha Cameron was thinking when she picked that dress. It's completely inappropriate.
Akshata looked stunning. That colour is great on her. She is quite a stylish dresser.

Certainly in the photo @whiteshutters posted of PAnne there was quite a difference colour wise between face and neck, but it may be down to flash photography or the lighting @AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras

PA does a lot of sailing it's not unusual to have a tanned face and hands with the rest of you depressingly white when sailing in Scotland which she does in the summer.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 22/11/2023 16:28

@LadyEloise1 my fault! I happened to be looking at another link featuring Princess Anne at the same time and got confused between two totally different photographs! Yes I agree it does look quite stark.

AllTangledUpInTitlesAndTiaras · 22/11/2023 16:56

Yes @justasking111 that was my thinking - sailing/horses/outdoorsy.

UtterlyUnimaginativeUsername · 22/11/2023 17:41

Just dumping this here for no particular reason.

I think I have identified the woman with Prince William - Elisabeth Mainelli - wife of the Lord Mayor of London. She is German and from Bavaria - so I think it is Bavarian folk costume and a rewear.

Although I think National costume is allowed under white tie rules

Maireas · 22/11/2023 17:46

Excellent work, @Lunde ! Yes, that definitely looks like her, it makes sense that she's in Bavarian costume.

I think Mrs Sunak would look lovely in national dress. She looks so young...as does her husband.
I assumed the Camerons were a last minute invite and Sam didn't have time to nip to Harrods for a frock.
What's next...Christmas?

Lunde · 22/11/2023 18:48

For the British royals there is usually the family lunch at BP in mid-December and then the Sandringham walk to church

We should see the Swedish royals in tiaras at the Nobel banquet on December 10th

whiteshutters · 22/11/2023 18:50

She wore it the other day when they celebrated Diwali. I love the red on her though!

Sam Cam is a designer with her own clothes line, isn't she? Maybe it's from her collection.

It is.

But a shame she didn't pick a more appropriate full length, evening dress from her own collection.

I thought the annual diplomatic reception was usually held in late November or early December, but I may be wrong about that. It's usually a tiara event?

Twazique · 22/11/2023 19:41

How do you pronounce Cefinn? I like to think the f is pronounced with a v as in Welsh. Oh is that a Dior? No, its a Kevin dress.

Different skirts?

Your might want to ask MNHQ to remove that photo @justasking111 as it's got identifying information on it!

Have done. Kate has had a seamstress on the skirt. Looking at the model it's a panelled full skirt. The hemming is superior too.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 22/11/2023 21:50

The POW always looks good because her tailoring is perfection.

Sidebeforeself · 22/11/2023 21:55

I thought Kates hair was underwhelming last night. However since she’d had it up earlier maybe she had that hair headache thing…

MrsFinkelstein · 22/11/2023 22:02

I'm obviously the odd one out, but I really liked Catherine's red cape outfit from yesterday.

But I do like a cape - I had one when I was a student Nurse, and it was lovely.

I liked the colour and the fit of Catherine's - so I'm obviously a fashion misfit.

Maireas · 22/11/2023 22:20

As we know, @MrsFinkelstein , taste and style are subjective! Just look at our responses to Erdem! It would be a very dull world indeed if we all had the same opinions.

It is - and Palace invitation dress codes make this clear. So if you come from the relevant area, a dirndl is perfectly appropriate wear to any event, no matter how formal. Which I kind of love. (Hugo Boss has a dirndl range for its German and Austrian markets! Quite a surprise if you idly wander into one of their boutiques in Vienna…).

Serenster · 22/11/2023 22:56

From the current season’s range, for example…😀
