I thought I'd do a Xmas edition of the styling threads I've done before for anyone who is interested 🎄👠

@frillseeking thank you so much! 🩷

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 20:40

@DarlingCoffee are you thinking for casual or for wfh?

Probably a bit of both to be honest! I like to look put together in my outfits even if I’m only wearing jeans. Thanks @frillseeking

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 22:06

@Stripedfluffysocks that's great to hear! I was thinking of something like this
Celine style tshirt with these amazing
wide leg trouserss*. They're a mid price point but I'd highly recommend- they're a really lovely fluid crepe with a flattering elasticated waistband which pulls the waist in. Don't let the jogger description put you off as they're quite smart in real life and work with a casual jacket but you could chuck on a blazer to dress them up. Do you have any existing pieces you're planning to take away with you?

Thank you!
I’ll grab that t shirt, love it. Have wide leg black trousers - will get them out for a try on session!
Ive read about the jeans you recommended from Marks, and will try them - any other high street jeans for Apple shape and sweatshirts/long sleeve tops now I don’t feel comfortable tucking things in 😟
Have bright apple green bomber jacket. Have mango boulce (sp?) cram and black crop cardigan jacket. Got red hoodie from Zara.
I would love some cuffed jeans/cargos in a beige or khaki and cropped wide jeans which would suit big tummy.

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 23:31

@Stripedfluffysocks this stripe knit from New Look is a good option as it looks chic for high street, lightweight so good for spring and for layering and its not too oversized or long. They also have lots of great sweatshirt options- love the styling of this one.

The H&M tshirt would work with your trousers and you could wear the mango jacket if you're going out. I'd suggest trying it tucked in and pouch and the right trousers should skim over the tummy area

Thank you so much for that!
I love the styling of that second outfit too and just found a skirt that is identical.
I found this one too, it’s floral, pencil, midi and it fits atm most importantly!!!
So your stylists honest opinion - i can take it 😉 -is it out of date, the length, style etc? And please what would you wear with it?

Thanks @frillseeking some lovely pieces there. I'm not brave enough for the sweater vest but I like the slouchy suits. I bought a blazer but am having so much trouble styling it on the bottom https://www.madewell.com/the-rosedale-blazer-in-plaid-99107213802.html

I tried skinny jeans (blue ripped and grey Everlane classic) and some slim fit leather look pants and they just looked so dated even with some cool backless loafers. What do you wear with it??

@MrsGannicus I just bought this leather bomber for a weekend away and got so many compliments on it. It's only high street but so soft and buttery, would definitely recommend and it's not as cropped as it looks on the model (I'm 5 foot 5). I love the way this bomber is styled for a casual every day spring look. I also love the jacket/ cardigans that are around at the moment. I've attached this mint velvet one for inspo

Hi @frillseeking , where is the leather bomber from that you recommend here?

Also wondering if you take on private clients?

frillseeking · 21/03/2024 18:29

@Pinko1 here is the link for you - faux leather bomber and yes drop me a PM with your email address and I'll send you details

@Urgenthelplease I've attached some inspo for you. I'd definitely try a looser silhouette on the bottom to look more current. I like the idea of a straight leg pair of leather trousers and a pale blue denim shirt to compliment the blue in the check.

@Stripedfluffysocks hmm I'll be honest I think that's going to be a hard one to style up to look current because of the length and print. I wonder if it could work with a grey tshirt and trainers but I'll be honest I'm not convinced 😆

@DarlingCoffee elevated knitwear is great for wfh as it gives you the smarter look without being too stuffy and tailored. I know I've mentioned it a few times but the knitted jacket/ cardigans are a great option. I love the black and cream Sezane one. You can wear with a blouse or with a tshirt for a more casual look and you could also dress up with a leather skirt or trousers. I also love the black striped Zara shirt. This would look great with jeans, loafers and a gold necklace. Accessories are key to pull the outfit together and finish your look.

@Cismyfatarse what do you think of something like this? I think it's a real stand out dress without looking too fussy or formal. Great shaping detail around the waist/ tummy area too.

Gorgeous @frillseeking guess I just need to try and forget all the rules of looking slim and have volume top and bottom. I just don't want to look square. Thanks @DarlingCoffee for your question too. Love that sezane cardie. What's the name?

frillseeking · 21/03/2024 20:02

@Urgenthelplease if you look at the first image, the belt draws the eye to the waist so it breaks up the silhouette. You could also wear a v neck or round neck top to break up the top half if you're worried about looking too square and if you don't want too much volume on the bottom, try a fluid trouser that will skim without adding too much volume.

Just noticed it's out of stock in a lot of sizes but they do restock so worth checking

@frillseeking so cute. Yes I'll try the fluid pants you recommended to another poster. I've got some silk midis you recommended last time but I'm not sure they'll work with a heavy jacket. I do have some wider black pants but I feel very buttoned up. I also splashed out on a black suit I love but it's very formal. I don't know how I'd pair the jacket differently with the rest of my wardrobe.

I love it!!! Really gorgeous.

frillseeking · 21/03/2024 21:26

@Cismyfatarse so gorgeous isn't it! So many occasion/event dresses are quite frilly and floral or completely plain and can look a bit meh so I thought this was a real winner

@Urgenthelplease the images have disappeared now for some reason but the suit and trousers looked great. Where are the trousers from? They look like the perfect fluid trouser without being too wide so am guessing more high end as the material looks like a decent fluid crepe. I've attached some inspo for how you can pair a heavier blazer with a satin skirt just for some ideas. I feel like I'd like to see it with a more delicate blouse like this one to play around with the masculine/ feminine and different textures

@frillseeking just pinged you my email!

Cismyfatarse · 22/03/2024 17:42

@frillseeking It was out of stock in my size but it just came back. Do you think leather jacket if it is chilly over the top? ( Scotland by the icy East coast) Shoes need to be flat or comfy. Lots of walking. Any ideas?

It is on its way to me now. Thanks!!! Fingers crossed.

Urgenthelplease · 22/03/2024 20:06

Thanks @frillseeking the suit was country road so the trousers were about £140 equivalent, poly blend I think.

Will definitely try the jacket with the satin skirt. Thanks again. You've got great taste.

frillseeking · 22/03/2024 20:34

@Urgenthelplease ah are you the lady I worked with in Australia? Just had a look at that brand and they've got some great pieces. The Australian brands do it so well 👌🏻

@frillseeking I am! They do some really good quality clothes you're right but they're not cheap and usually very classic which isn't my style but I'm growing up!
