I thought I'd do a Xmas edition of the styling threads I've done before for anyone who is interested 🎄👠

Lovely to see you back, frillseeking.

frillseeking · 19/03/2024 19:21

@lindyloo57 I'd recommend a straight leg style if you don't want to move too far away from skinnies and stay true to a fitted style. They are on trend and work great on narrower hips. This style from Topshop at Asos is the kind of style I'd suggest

@frillseeking they look good, just wondered if you know a shop i could go to and try on, didn't really want to buy online thank you. I have looked at levis 314 style I might go instore to try on.

Tired00 · 19/03/2024 20:06

Lovely to see you back @frillseeking ! I’ve recently bought some pale pink trainers and was wondering how you’d style them for day to day? I feel like I dont even know what socks to wear with trainers now 😂 I am a mum of little ones (size 10/12 5’6) and have quite a casual lifestyle. Thank you!

Hey @frillseeking no apologies necessary. Got to make that £. I'm struggling with a more formal work environment then I'm used to. Always been in a role where jeans and trainers are welcomed and now I want to be a bit more grown up. Any basics you'd recommend for a capsule work wardrobe to look pulled together but not stuffy?

frillseeking · 19/03/2024 20:40

@lindyloo57 I'd also suggest trying the 312 from Levi's, image attached if you're going into Levi's. John Lewis normally have a good selection. I've said it a few times here but I really rate M&S denim. I'd try the shaping straight leg and I'd give the Mom shape a go as they're quite fitted (not loose/ relaxed like some mum jean shapes and they have stretch so mould to the body and don't go loose when wearing.)

Help me please 👋
Two outfits please, prob large size 12 / 14 🙄
I have put on weight that I will loose to get back to size 10 so I just want to spend lower high street prices, just something nice to wear on UK city break with kids over Easter.
I carry weight around tummy. I will wear anything if it is flattering as I feel so heavy.
Am 5 ft 7. Blonde. Not into patterns but like black and colours. But will try anything that you suggest 🙏
Wanting mix and match jeans/tops/everyday dress please give links so I can just get them ordered, I’ve no time to shop atm with work.
Something up to date, stylish for city break and being around nice hotels.
I’ve ordered so many things you’ve recommended for other women before!!

lindyloo57 · 19/03/2024 21:37

@frillseeking hi, I just returned m&s boyfriend jeans, crop slim, and boyfriend ankle jeans i didn't try the mum ones, the boyfriends were nearly right, but i felt the legs are to loose, I think because they are tapered, I need them to be straight, going into city tomorrow I will try them as well as the levis.

frillseeking · 19/03/2024 22:36

@lindyloo57 yes boyfriend will always be a bit more of a looser leg. Report back and let us know how you get on

@frillseeking will do.

rodarrrach · 19/03/2024 23:09

Hi there,
I am just sending a message to say thanks a million for your advice regarding a headpiece and shoes for a dress I had for my brother's wedding. It was 2 months ago ...but only getting round to saying thank you now!
Lovely thread. Really appreciate you taking your time to offer advice 💗

WeDidntHaveWaterBottlesInThe80s · 19/03/2024 23:27

@lindyloo57 I don't know what your view is on flares, but the M&S high waist stretch flares are very flattering - I was taken back to the late 90s and early 2000s when I looked great in jeans!

lindyloo57 · 20/03/2024 08:41

@WeDidntHaveWaterBottlesInThe80s my favourite jeans of all time are from the 90s oasis scarlet jeans, I managed to buy 4 pairs recently from ebay they are slim on the hips and top of legs with a small bootcut, the only thing is they are slightly low waist but they do just come up to my belly button so not too low, I will try the m&s ones today.

lindyloo57 · 20/03/2024 16:37

@frillseeking so update went in marks with my ten pairs of jeans to try, mum jeans not quite right too much fabric at the hips and under the bum, did have success with the high waist stretch flare that was suggested on here, and I brought another pair of the lily's slim, I only wanted a black and grey pairs, that did limit my choice, and the levis 312 I already have these i do like them, they fit very much like the m&s lily's, so still looking for a straight leg pair, just found some levis 314 onbay, I've took a chance and ordered, they were only £10 so if no good I can resell.

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 17:10

@lindyloo57 the high waist flare they also do in a straight leg so may be worth trying if you like the fit around the waist/hips. I was thinking the Lilly may be too close to a skinny. Have you tried the Levi's ribcage?

MrsGannicus · 20/03/2024 17:22

Hi @frillseeking. Love your threads! Have you seen any good spring jackets out there? I love my denim jacket but looking for something to wear with jeans (not ready for double denim!).

lindyloo57 · 20/03/2024 17:29

@frillseeking Are the ribcage button front? I think I remember trying them last year, I can't remember why I didn't like them .the trouble is when you are slim hipped and a small bum, anything to wide from under the bum looks awful on me, I can do a wide leg trouser, as the fabric is more flowing,

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 18:11

@Urgenthelplease some workwear inspo for you. Obviously it will depend on what type of office environment you're in but I like to start off a bit more adventurous 😀

I’m so bored of my wardrobe and would love to hear your top three purchases for Spring please @frillseeking WFH in a professional role.

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 19:17

@Tired00 love the trainers 💗 I've attached some inspo for you. For every day I'd wear them with jeans, tshirt and a leather jacket but I've mixed it up a bit to give you some style inspo. Love the idea of a denim maxi as we go into spring and the bomber js very much around still this season.

Ooh. Can I ask? I have DD's graduation in June, but in. Scotland with lots of standing about in between and walking. I need an outfit, and possibly shoes. Maybe a dress and jacket or something. Happy to splurge a bit.

  1. Blonde. 5ft 10 and size 16 but tall so need longer length or not too short. Good legs but busty and don't want to look matronly, or like the mother of the bride.

I don't like frills or anything too fussy and would love to look slim, young and not freeze. Thanks so much.

frillseeking · 20/03/2024 19:50

@MrsGannicus I just bought this leather bomber for a weekend away and got so many compliments on it. It's only high street but so soft and buttery, would definitely recommend and it's not as cropped as it looks on the model (I'm 5 foot 5). I love the way this bomber is styled for a casual every day spring look. I also love the jacket/ cardigans that are around at the moment. I've attached this mint velvet one for inspo
