And that I can wear with socks

Any ideas? Not as heavy as boots and not as casual as trainers but comfortable

parsonsnose · 04/10/2023 15:09

HOTTER ?

minipie · 04/10/2023 15:23

I have these which are incredibly comfy but suspect you may class them as a trainer or a boot

Lovemusic82 · 04/10/2023 18:19

Following because I am trying to transition from sandals to boots and would like a in between option.

i have a very old pair or Art shoes which I love but they have seen better days, Art don’t make the same style anymore. I do have a pair of Art chelsea style boots that I love.

Amazon classes them as a boot too, because they are!

I know you said not boots 👀 but then said you don't want them because they're heavy. I absolutely live in my Grenson Nanette boots and they're so, so light. I don't know how they do it! And the most comfortable things I've ever worn. Especially with nice cosy socks. They're also incredibly well made, in a way that very few shoes are these days. Plus, when the soles wear down, you can send them away to be rebuilt and come back basically as new (for a fee, but cheaper than buying new shoes). I love how cute they make my feet look and love them with dresses as well as trousers. About 5 of my friends also have them 🤣

If I've not convinced you to consider that style, I can't recommend Grenson enough as a brand and they have many other wonderful non-boots. They cost more than I used to imagine ever spending on shoes, but they could last you potentially decades with the rebuild service so it's worth it, I think. I used to have to buy a new pair of winter staple shoes every autumn but I've had mine for 5 years now and counting.

Do these look like trainers? I love the colour but don't love the sole but can live with it...

They do look a bit like trainers, I think it's the white soles. I've spent three years trying to find something without white soles, they look tatty so quickly

KirstenBlest · 04/10/2023 19:35

@laclochette , what's the sizing like on the Nanettes please?

OneLittleFinger · 04/10/2023 19:36

How flexible is the sole of these? I hate driving in stiff soled shoes and tend to wear Rocket Dogs, but it's too wet to wear them outside. Currently have v little time to run between jobs and don't have enough time to keep switching between them and my DMs, but don't feel comfortable driving in the boots.

It’s such a pity Rogue Matilda is gone.

ElleCapitaine · 04/10/2023 20:48

I have these - DM Adrians. I’m on my second pair. Easy to break in and then they’re like wearing slippers. I can walk for miles in them. Stylish with socks. Also come in other colours and sole thicknesses.

I have lots of feet problems so really struggle in shoes. I have these for work, so comfortable and look smart too https://www.fitflop.com/uk/en/shop/rally-elastic-tumbled-leather-slip-on-trainers-p-GN6#090

Sophieptl · 04/10/2023 21:31

Have a look at ugg if you dont mind spending a bit, they usually have a veriety of designs that arent specifically boots, never fail on the comfort either! Xx

Eminybob · 04/10/2023 21:42

Oh god, I've only gone and fallen in love with those Russell and Bromley ones. They would be perfect for work but I can't really afford to drop £200 just like that.
Oh who am I kidding I just need to decide between the black or white soles 🙈

minipie · 04/10/2023 22:05

Fair 😆

laclochette · 04/10/2023 22:11

@KirstenBlest I find they run true to size, I wear them with proper socks but not necessarily super chunky ones (although those are nice too).

Forgot to add that they are super easy to get on and off versus the DMs they replaced for me, which is a huge plus in boots for me, can't be faffing about inelegantly pulling things on and off any more 🤣

They're often on sale somewhere, so do Google to check (my friend just got a pair for £150 on Yoox!)

1 vote for black soles

@laclochette - you need to get yourself to the annual sample sale!!

I have some grenson brogues which are brilliant - but I see we have already discussed brogues.

Camper shoes are worth a look if you want comfy/quirky. Not smart.

Oh - I like white soles on the R&B trainers. Black looks like a medical shoe.

PurpleRadish · 04/10/2023 22:18

All these shoes are so ugly and expensive!
This is no disrespect to posters, just to general shoe fashion!

Stylish, flat comfortable shoes are as rare as hen's teeth aren't they?

Thanks to barstard osteoarthritis in my foot I can't wear heels or any elegant shoes any more 🙁

HerMammy · 05/10/2023 02:27

@PoppiesForTea
possibly the ugliest shoes I've seen, deary me
