And that I can wear with socks

Any ideas? Not as heavy as boots and not as casual as trainers but comfortable

Reiss make some good sturdy winter shoes. I admit that mine are a low ankle boot, but they likely make them as shoes. They're very comfortable.

I have these from Russell & Bromley for that exact purpose. Mine are the ones with while soles but black also nice.

Wow - I love it - comfy?
But I just bought a pair of black boots - I will have a think about buying another pair of black shoes - (I'm strange like this?

I never see loafers styled with socks? I need socks!

I love loafers with socks! Example from Google attached.

Yes comfy! I got these for wearing with black tights in winter on way to work and in office if I don’t have a meeting as I find it increasingly uncomfortable wearing heels! have had a lot of comments from random people asking where they are from!
I think they serve a different purpose to boots so if I were you I would treat myself to both 🤣

Sorry this is regarding the Russell & Bromley pair - am a bit of a novice commenting so didn’t realise I hadn’t quoted your question OP!

Just seen they have so many more colours and even navy ...so unfair!

How do you cope with keeping your white soles white? Since they are expensive and look more formal than trainers, I suspect this will stress me out...

Brogues with socks of the same colour. Suede looks smarter.

Or really short ankle boots?

I think white coloured sole and wider cotton laces usually give out “trainers” vibe so I would avoid them.

Well typically for Russell & Bromley (with their relentless upselling!) they sell trainer wipes for that purpose but I can’t confirm if they work as my son seems to have made off with them!
I am terrible at taking care of my things in all honesty but I have to say the soles have not really got dirty! Granted I am not wading through fields of mud in them but in comparison my white superga trainers need replacing / washing regularly - for some reason these R&B ones haven’t got that marked!

You don’t? Socks with loafers have been having quite a moment.

I honestly love loafers. So ridiculously comfortable and always stylish.

Brogues with socks are in vogue, as you already have them, start styling them that way while your new boots are pending!

VelvetVoice · 04/10/2023 07:43

I wish I could wear brogues and loafers, I like the style but for some reason they don’t look very good on me.
I’ve had a good pair of DMs that I gave up on and I bought summer loafers, very nice and managed to wear 2x but they are very soft material so not good with socks or heavier clothes

Maybe my outfits are outdated…

I absolutely hate boots, I will be wearing DM shoes and hiking/ walking shoes instead this winter.

KirstenBlest · 04/10/2023 10:09

I don't find loafers comfortable, and like having laces. Prefer a plain lace up to a brogue.
Brands like josef seibel, gabor, hotter and skechers tend to be comfortable, and have styles that aren't trainer-like.

vestedinterests · 04/10/2023 10:11

@taczilla aww love these! I should also stop reading these threads in S&B Grin

Jitterybugs · 04/10/2023 10:19

I bought these Sketchers shoes at the end of last winter after slipping and falling on my arse due to poor grip on my old winter shoes. They are non slip soles and super comfy. I know they’re not the most elegant but that’s a low priority for me. I love them. This is an Amazon link but I saw them a bit cheaper in Sports Direct

Are clogs still a thing? I'm easily influenced and bought a few pairs in various colours/styles over the summer. They took a bit of getting used to as they're obviously not flexible like trainers, but I find them comfortable. It's a certain look to wear them with socks, but if you like it, it's sort of cosy and autumnal... I do like it personally and have bought some nice socks specifically for this (did I mention easily influenced??). Not cheap but for work (hospitality- loooong shifts) I had a couple of pairs of ecco lace ups- one pair blue suede and one pair black leather. They were more comfortable than my trainers! Have proper support (plus removable support insoles), great grip soles and were brilliant even on the 14 hour days.

CountTo10 · 04/10/2023 12:24

These are the most comfortable boots ever. It's like wearing slippers. I have them in black and brown.

TheSilentSister · 04/10/2023 12:38

@CountTo10 - I love those - they aren't like the 'typical' chelsea boot - really wish I didn't read these threads, lol

KirstenBlest · 04/10/2023 12:47

I meant to include Rieker on my list.
The brands aren't your typical S&B ones but I won't wear uncomfortable shoes.

AdoraBell · 04/10/2023 12:56

Place marking, sorry I can’t help but I need ideas too. I struggle due to sever bunions and previously broken and dislocated toes.
